    This is one of the best videos on a motorcycle to Tuk. I rode to that area in August and got detoured due to the fires.
    Looks like you had good weather, at least from the footage that you showed. The drone footage of Tuk and the moose was beautiful. And I think you did a great job showing the balance of logging miles and stopping to see the scenery. You are to be commended for camping, not easy to do with the daily added challenge of set up, take down, food, shower, rain, etc.
    You also showed a lot of side trips that I was unaware of and I am sure others too.
    Great job. I am sure it was not easy to create this video with all of your footage.
    Thanks!
    Clint

    The road to Tuk looked very nice and well packed. Really enjoyed the drone too. I just got back from Alaska and wanted to do both but my travel companion was ill equipped for riding this terrain. I’ll definitely go back. It looks beautiful!! Great video!!

    Your trip is incredible, the affection you have for animals is very cool and admirable.
    Does it take a lot of time to go off route to climb to the top of Pink Mountain?
    Do need pay any fees when crossing the ferries?
    Thank you very much for sharing and all the best 👍🏻

      It was a couple of hours to get to the top of pink mountain and back. My wife was on the back of my bike. If you're riding alone, you'd be quicker. The ferries are free:) quick and easy. Good luck!

    Nice work with the video - looks like a great trip and you got some decent weather. We were up there about a week earlier than you. Got into Tuk on the 12/13 of June. Wish I had known of Pink Mountain and the Laird hotsprings for our ride... Great finds! Will have to add those for the next visit out west. Makes me with I had flown my drone more while up there.

    Congrats on the solo ride! I really enjoyed the video, always great to see the trip thru someone else’s eyes.
    Looks like you had some pretty awesome weather. Also, that early in the season, it looks as if the mosquitos have not come out in force yet.
    And thanks for sharing the Pink Mountain component. I have been all over that mountain in the 80s doing heli-portable seismic but never drove up it or if I did (can’t remember) it would have been 4x4. I will ride up there the next time through.
    I have Telegraph Creek to complete (was late at night and raining) and I want to do the Canol North Road as well. Top of the World was overcast and rainy when I did it so it would be nice to repeat on a clear day. Just a long ways from Calgary. I bailed in 2018 at Eagle Plains on Sept 4, when it was raining and snow plows working on the road at the NWT border. Sure, it was late in the season but the colours were amazing. It was like the tundra was on fire (it was in 2016 on my first trip).
    What drone did you use and did it have follow me or did you have the controller on the bars? I liked the moose video which is where I think I saw some mosquitos, but was not sure.
    Lastly, looks like you didn’t check the nrcan drone site selection tool for Tuk, or at least the person that gave you the footage didn’t. Ha.

      @Brimo890  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks for watching my video and the thorough feedback! It's much appreciated.
      I used a DJI mini 3 pro. Yes, it can follow you. Although, it randomly stops following at times.
      The mosquitos were irritating on the way up. I had rain just about every day on the drive north. Most of my video footage is from the drive back down when the rain stopped and the skies cleared. I've been to Manitoba lots, and the mosquitos were no worse than Manitoba:)
      Take care and all the best.
      Brian

    • @Brimo890
      @Brimo890  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The bike is truly amazing for what I do with it. It's never felt underpowered with 2 people. I've dropped it lots, and it holds up well. I've had to clean the fork seals a few times, but that's pretty normal for off-road riding. I checked the valve clearances this winter after 57,000km, and they were all still within spec. I've got the WA BDR planned this year and riding the Baja California next year:) I have no doubt or worries about the bike. Enjoy your 890 and all the best.

    • @Brimo890

      It can, but from my understanding, you'd need to pre-book rooms. There's very limited hotels along the way. Good luck!

    Nice video/photo log. I'm from Red Deer. Two summers ago I did the Campbell Highway, Top of the World, Dalton Highway (as far as the Arctic Circle) and Denali Highway solo on my Harley Softail. I'm hoping to go back and the Dempster is on my list. Judging from your shots (and other videos I've seen) the Dempster is pretty good when it's dry and not in a construction zone. Was that your overall impression? How were the temps mid-June?

    • @Brimo890
      @Brimo890  Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks for watching. The gravel is in good shape when it's dry. It's well maintained. The trouble is finding 4 or 5 days in a row that are dry to do the trip up and back.
      The drive up was around 10 degrees and foggy. Most of my pics and videos are from the drive south when it cleared up.
      I loved the trip!
      Safe riding.

    Awesome video . Thats my ride 2024 June/July. Key West to Tuk and back .I purchased The Pig (KLR650) and decided not to take the Triumph which is unreliable. Roughly , how many miles do you cover daily ?

    • @Brimo890
      @Brimo890  Před 7 měsíci

      My goal was around 500km/day (300 miles). I find anything more than that, and there's not enough time to stop for pics and walks etc. I camped every night, which takes time for set up and teardown each day. You could probably drive a bit more if you're hotelling it.
      Good luck! Thanks for watching.

      The campsite was $60. No hookups etc. Northern prices, but worth the night.

    • @Brimo890
      @Brimo890  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the feedback. My friend paid for 4 riders camping in Tuk, so I'm not 100% sure. ($60 sounds right). The camping was very random, and we shared a spot with several other riders too. The government campsites in the Yukon on the way up are great, $20/night, and include firewood.

      The Mitas E07+ Dakar version. They lasted the full 9,500kms and my wife was on the back for the first 2,500kms. I was really happy with them, and it's the same tire that now comes on the new 2023 KTM 890's. Good luck!

    Any bears? Did you pack bearspray?

    • @Brimo890
      @Brimo890  Před 10 měsíci

      I saw probably over 20 bears on the trip. I did carry spray but didn't need it. The bears were busy doing bear stuff and were not interested at all. I felt very safe and, of course, left them alone. All the best.
