This recording presents a remastering of the concert given by Rocío Márquez and Rosa Torres-Pardo at the Fundación Juan March on 28 November 2014, now recovered on the March Vivo label. It proposes an encounter between cultured music and its popular inspiration. The flamenco singer and the classical pianist trace a path that interweaves works by Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados and Isaac Albéniz with popular Spanish songs (some later harmonised by Federico García Lorca). The interpretation of these works from a Flemish perspective reveals a substratum usually ignored in these works, which sought in popular culture the essence of the music of their country.
