      He's definitely great as Jake, but I think you'd believe the same thing if Matt Damon had played the role. The only reason why he wasn't able to take it was because he was already committed to another project, but if Damon was the casting directors' first choice, then surely he was the one "meant" for the role more than any other actor. Just saying! I don't have anything against Worthington though 😄

    James Cameron said during the casting for Jake, Sam Worthington's delivery in the part where Jake calls for the Navi to battle is what convinced him to give the role Sam Worthington.
    He said the other actors did better in other areas but not as believable as Sam's audition for that scene.

  • @TXNICK96
    @TXNICK96 Před rokem +78

    What's kind of funny and cute at the same time, with the way "Jake" comes in for the kiss she seems surprised. Then she returns the kiss with her own and says "this is very good, but we have something better..."
    Implying the nerve connection bond
    But what I find sort of cute is that Jake was introducing Neytiri to a kiss, possibly something the Navi do not do. (At least, we don't know, so far in canon)
    Jake, as a human, showed Neytiri how humans show affection to those they love. Then Neytiri shows Jake, as a Navi, how they do their own gesture of affection to those they love.

    • @jessicalarson6358

      I don’t think Na’vi kiss or hug. Even in the final cut when Jake went in to kiss, Neytiri seemed a little hesitant and unfamiliar with the action. I noticed since being with Jake, Neytiri picked up on human behaviors especially in “the way of water.” We saw her and Jake hug, as well as hugging her children.

Even if you felt indifferent about Sam’s voice acting (which I thought he did a pretty solid job as an Australian actor), he can convey his feelings so well that you don’t need words on a script to know what emotions are being felt, and I believe that deserves a lot of praise. James Cameron knows how to pilfer in style.
    That scene where they talk about Jake picking a mate... it felt so familiar to me. It was like a distant itch in my memory. Then it hit me. * BOOM *
    Charlton Hesston. When he played Moses in the 10 commandments. Wasn't even born when that classic came out. But, its damn near the same exact scene where Moses is being told by his own love interest that he too can now pick a wife. And she goes on the same ramble, naming one female after the other, pointing out each ones attributes just like Saldana did. Before Moses tells her he has already found the one he's looking for in her.
