- Flipping eBay pick-ups with a couple simple steps! In today’s episode of Restorations with Vick Almighty, he will walk you through exactly how to clean and restore one of the most iconic colorways or all time!
This restoration wasn’t as routine to Vick; since he never worked on this color before the color matching was going to be tough. The main steps of this restoration would be cleaning, unyellowing, and a quick repaint!
To kick off the restoration you have to start with a clean slate. To take care of this cleaning we relied heavily on RESHOEVN8R products. One great thing about these sneakers is that we didn’t see a lot of color bleed while cleaning that upper material. We did choose to wash these in the laundry system. When buying used sneakers it is always a great idea to give them the deepest clean possible with the Laundry System.
After the shoe was clean and disinfected it was time to move over to removing the nasty yellowing. To do this it took a couple coats of Sole Revive and 4500W of UV rays. Luckily it only took about 5 days to get the results Vick wanted.
Now we move onto the tricky part… The repainting process! With this process comes a lot of taping and prep work by removing the paint that was previously on the shoe. Once Vick has the perfect paint mix all that’s left to do is hand-paint it on the midsole! Painting it with a paintbrush rather than an airbrush allows him to be super precise.
With the midsole repainted, we are almost wrapped up in this restoration. The last step is to revive the suede using Mink Oil and a Horsehair brush. Now this 2017 pair is looking almost as good as the day it dropped… minus the bald spots on the suede that are not repairable.
Overall Vick killed this restoration…. What is one shoe he has never restored that you want to see!?

These are the exact shoes I’m working on right now! Have heavily beat them but deep cleaned them using Reshoevn8r and mink oil just need to do the midsole repaint. Can I ask what your ratio of the 3 paints you used to get the UNC colour? Also did you use flat black or regular black?

Just a reminder for those that wanna try the mink oil, I recommend doing it outside cuz that stuff STINKS!!!
We do recommend applying it outside or in a well ventilated area for sure.
This my thing bringing shoes back to life I love it!! I wanna get into shoe restoration for real!! I've brung shoes my friends thought was done back to life! I wanna know what tools you need to do so far as brushes and all the whole 9 yards!! I've been restoring sneakers all my life but don't have the tools he got!! If possible "IF" possible Whats the main tools I need? I love and respect his work cause he do it by steps and he don't rush anything I'm a huge fan of his craft and the passion of it and I actually write down things far as paints,brushes, and etc... keep up the great work hopefully I can have the tools and start me a small shoe business one day

One of the shoes i’ve always wanted to cop just havent pulled the trigger on spending the $$…these are def on my want list tho…I like simple color ways…the blue on these pop
This colorway might be one of the best of the UNC releases IMO
For UNC specifically I like the 3’s the most personally (which I have… as far as the 6’s they are really clean. I want them but i’ve also considered getting the Powder Blue 10’s cuz they’re a bit cheaper and still the baby blue shade…I like those too and I think 10’s are underrated. I just want something fresh for the baby blue color…my 3’s are in decent condition but I just cant get them back to the bright white like they came. I dont think ANY cleaner can get them brand new white. If I wear a fresh new white t shirt you can def see the difference in shades no matter what cleaner I use. But thats another reason to get the 6’s cuz black stays lookin fresh longer🤷

I don't know bro those were pretty yellow before the bag and wash. Not calling shenanigans but does some of that yellow come off with a thicker brush?
Some of the dirt would come off with the Stiff Brush to make it look a little less dirty, but the yellowing doesn't come off much by just scrubbing.

We use 1500W UV rays and then we use Reshoevn8r Sole Revive to ice the soles.

The problem with the nasty synthetic durabuck "suede" that Jordan brand uses for these sneakers, is that in time they always dry out and crack off leaving bald spots. I hate restoring anything with durabuck and never buy the material on Jordans. It's a ticking time bomb. Jordan should use better quality material for the amount of money they charge. It's highway robbery. This pair is only from 2017 though so it's possible they were still in decent condition before you got them all dusted up. This pair seemed barely worn looking at the tread wear on the bottoms. Good pair for a video.
