  • We are comparing Cruising on Carnival Cruise Lines with Royal Caribbean. Is Carnival the Walmart of the Seas? How does it compare to Royal Caribbean. We just got back from our first Carnival Cruise and (Spoiler Alert!) it was great! We will compare 10 areas between Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean to see how they Stack up.

    We have cruised both Carnival and Royal Caribbean. We prefer RC overall, but have done more Carnival ones because we get better offers from them.

    You should go on the carnival sunrise, it feels way more open (mostly on floor 5), we never had over a 10 min wait for your time dining, the lounges were way fancier and liquid lounge was very easy to see above other people and the main dining rooms seemed more fancy than what you had

      Thanks for the suggestion. However, we're booked for the next year's solid.l, since we're going on the ultimate world cruise with Royal Caribbean. That's nine full months. We'll have to look in 2025 when we get back.

    It was great to meet you on this cruise! I love hearing other points of view, as I've only ever sailed carnival. The deals I get are several hundred dollars less for the same class of ship so carnival has me hooked! I do want to try RC though, so I'll just need to quit being so cheap lol.

    We have only cruised once so far. My sister in law arranged a Carnival out of New Orleans. That was a loooong time ago, in 2009! Now that I see this video I understand some things. Turns out sil had booked us on a booze cruise, smack dab during spring break. Explains a lot of things, like the coed in the next cabin drunkenly turning somersaults and crashing into the bulkhead which happened to be up against our bed! Life has taken a turn (healthwise) and for now there will be no more travel, but I'm appreciating your input and advice. Someday..... In the meantime I'll travel vicariously through CZcams. As a follow-up to the acrobat next door-she got into a huge fight with another girl and was moved to a cabin below, I'm sure the rest of her cruise was pretty stark.

      @livingphase2  Před 7 měsíci

      Oh my gosh. There are some wild people on some of those booze cruise ships. I feel like if you stick to cruising on seven nights or longer you don’t have that type of issues. Thanks so much for watching. We appreciate you.

    Never been on carnival, but regarding passengers on Carnival possibly being more lively, my experience has been that it depends upon the cruise. We’ve been on 3 11 night cruises from NJ and found that there are repeat cruisers, plus, A LOT of people who get up and dance immediately. I love to dance and can’t stand that often people will just stand around, but on many of our Royal cruises, it seems to just depend on who is on the particular cruise. I love it when there’s a bunch of people who dance because I’ll dance, too(my husband, not so much, lol). Thank you for your info. Also, since our eleven nights were on Anthem, the solarium was fabulous in the freezing cold. We’re D+ on Royal and just love it. We may go with Celebrity in the future since the unsupervised kids on Royal are often annoying (I always supervised mine when they were young.)

    I've been on RC 18 times and Carnival 26 times. I agree with a majority of your points as a ship to ship comparison, but I can also attest to 95% of your negative points of Carnival, don't exist on the newer ships. Adult area, Entertainment, Prominade deck, and Food are Very noticeably more to your comparison to RC and even better in some areas. That being the reason I've changed from RC to CC.

    I’ve gone on 17 Carnival cruises, all 7-8 day cruises with the exception of one 5 day last year. The only bad experience I’ve ever had was that 5 day cruise from Miami. It was definitely a younger / lower class crowd and I did not feel at home on the ship at all. I have since gone on the Celebration back in March and absolutely loved it, so much that I booked a aft balcony cabin for March Break 2024 and 2025. I have also booked a Cloud 9 suite on the Jubilee for my 40th birthday next July. You should try that new ship as it will sail from Galveston!

    Chef's Table on a Vison Class ship is AWESOME! That and the Schooner bar are very impressive on the smaller RCCL ship class. I wish they would build a new small ship, since that is the only option out of certain ports, Like the Port of Baltimore.

    Nice review. I have been on 20 carnival Cruises and 3 RCI cruises. I agree with some of what you said. First time I ever heard someone say RCI had better entertainment but they must have improved. You missed the best dining experience which is early or late dining where you have the same waiters evey night that treat you like kings. The three reasons we stopped boing on Royal C were the dirty bathrooms on the pool decks, the thing you mention about the dining not being available enough , the worst is it is closed when you get back from shore excursions, and the crew and people are not as fun as you mention. I would add Royal C ships have gotten WAY to big. The dining room entertainment is great on carnival too. Overall, similar demographics. Sort of like you, carnival is like an old shoe for me. I board before the general public so not changing. I have to try Princess, wish my status would transfer.

Disney is a class of here own, but Carnival, NCL and RC are second to us…

    Some interesting and fair assessments! I need to get on Royal one of these days. The problem is that Carnival keeps throwing me awesome casino deals and I keep catching them ;) I'm also more interested in trying Virgin first if I branch out. You nailed it in saying the big difference that tends to cause problems is actually the cruise length more than the line. It's a completely different vibe going on a 7+ day cruise on a nice new ship vs a 3 day cruise on an old crappy one. And Carnival is definitely letting a lot of their older ships go to hell :( I so wish they would completely revamp the Spirit class. Nothing beats the social vibe of a long cruise on a small ship. Thanks for the vid! Oh, one more thing...the drink package thing applies in NY as well, with not being able to use it the first day. Curious how RCL gets around that because it's a state thing, not a Carnival thing. Also, milkshakes ARE included in the drink package. Along with coffees, coconut water, powerade, soda...basically any non-alcoholic drink you could want. The only things I have seen that aren't are full bottles of wine, buckets of beer, fish bowls and those special juices in the dining room on Sea Day Brunch. Dang it I keep coming back to edit and this is getting long, sorry. Vista is hands down my LEAST favorite Carnival ship. Even the Panorama, which is the same class, is MUCH better. I don't even know exactly why, but I just did not like it and we unfortunately did a B2B when she first came out. You should for sure try a different ship next time. Panorama is fantastic though sails the west coast which I don't like as well, and the new Excel class look straight up amazing. Finding out in February!

    You guys compared a Oasis class ship to a Vista Class. That is not apples to apples. If you want a fair comparison please take an Excel class Carnival ship. Royal is the Best Buy because it’s kid friendly and everyone love them❤

    • @livingphase2
      @livingphase2  Před rokem +2

      Luckily we had no bad incidences at all on our carnival cruise. Just a lot of very lively people having a lot of fun. We met some really fantastic people. There really is a difference, we think, in a 3 day cruise and a 7 day cruise. We think you see a lot more bad incidences on a 3 day cruise. Also, at least on the ship we are on, lots of kids and lots of Kids Activities like the doctor Seuss themed green eggs and ham character breakfast. They all seem to have a great time. However overall, I would say the huge amount of things for families to do especially on the newer RCCL ships is quite impressive

    • @DenaInWyo
      @DenaInWyo Před 7 měsíci

      Just curious if you've actually ever BEEN on a Carnival cruise? Keep in mind that the media goes nuts with every little thing they can when it comes to cruising. I agree with Livingphase2, the bigger difference is between a 7+ day cruise, and I'll go one more than that even, on a newer bigger ship and a short, cheap cruise on an old ship. I haven't actually been on Royal so I have to avoid the generalization that it's a ship full of snobby people and kind of boring. And Royal has their incidents too.
