  • This video features the Bosch Gll 40-20G Self-Leveling Green Laser Level. This tool is small & compact, yet very powerful. If you watch the video all the way through, you'll learn the shortcuts and the secret to getting perfectly level items. I also compare the red cross line to the green line, just so you can see the difference. The green line is definitely easier to see all the way around and goes further. To find out more, click the link below to see it at The Home Depot website.

    Thanks Mark. Considered several brands and models. The Bosch GLL (green) seems like the best value for my worksite application. Your review showed everything I needed to see. Much appreciated.

    I’m a tile setter red laser sucks . I work in dark bathrooms and it barely covers 10 ft when there’s any sort of light going on in there and super hard to see . Anyone looking to buy should most definitely go with the green one . Makes life a lot easier not having to adjust the laser to get better visuals on the line

    ... but as soon as i point the cross line laser to the floor, not the wall, it kept blinking.
    just wondering why? might be not level enough? or not using for floor, i mean i do not need to level floor, but just want to have the nice line to install the tiles on the floor

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před rokem

      The laser needs to sit on a flat surface, within 4 degrees of level. If you're installing floor tiles, you may want a 3 plane laser. This laser will blink letting you know it's not level, but you can point your own lines downward, but the laser will blink, which might get annoying. Hope that helps.

    • @rtmunro
      @rtmunro Před 5 lety

      I bought the green one today. Been waffling between red/green and your comparison sealed the deal. I didn't realize it would blink when set to an angle (e.g. 45) but I can totally understand why it does, and certainly can live with it. Thanks for pointing that out. I'd likely have thought my unit was defective before I really thought it through. One of my big projects coming up is wainscoting in my foyer and up the stairs. This should certainly help with the layout. We recently moved into a new house so I've been hanging things on a daily basis and am a stickler for level/plumb. This will make my life so much easier.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 2 lety

      If you just bought it, I'd say to exchange it. I just checked mine and made sure there's no switch for locked/unlocked positions like other lasers have. This is a straight forward laser and shouldn't blink if it's level or within 4 degrees.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 2 lety

      That's correct, it's raised off the floor a bit. You would need to use a tape measure to see the distance down. I have a section of my garage floor that dips down on the one side wall, so I'll use a grade rod measure to figure out how much is required to fix it.

    How is the beam pattern on the ceiling? I got a project putting up 8 foot led lights in my garage. Wall to wall is 31 feet at 9 feet high so can I get a solid line that far?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 4 lety +1

      It does a great job on the walls, floor, and ceiling too. The beam goes at a slight angle up from the laser unit, so it's not a 90 degree plumb line. If you want the ability to do a plumb line, the Bosch GLL 100 will do that. I made a review on that unit a month or so ago, explaining and comparing these units.

    Only possible positive criticism I could give brother would be comparison to other cross beam laser.
    Pretty sure we all know this but it's not that green is any different than red just our eyes see green much easier due to the visible spectrum. It's a good cross laser I bought it but there are better ones in existence for more money. The things I dislike about it: overpriced. Massively. No IP rating. Alkaline batteries not able to be used with battery systems (not that I use them). Also it's not as accurate as I'd like it to be. (.8mm/m).
