BOSCH CROSS LINE LASER LEVEL! THE GLL 30S

- Check out this amazing Bosch Cross Line Laser Level, model #GLL 30S. This comes with 2@ AA batteries, a carrying pouch, and a MM2 flexible mounting device. This level is self leveling if you get it within 4 degrees of level. If it's more than 4 degrees, the laser light will blink every 3 seconds and hold the line in place for manual mode. This allows the user to create a laser line at angles for projects like a railing installation on a staircase. I found this tool very user friendly and accurate. If you have any questions about it, please ask and I'll be happy to respond.
Question of the day: If you had a cross line laser level, would you ever use a traditional 4' level again?

Literally the first video of someone using the laser! Thank you
Thanks, happy to help!
@@MarkThomasBuilder Could I use this to set the height of deck posts? Transfer the top edge of the ledger board to a post, mark that height, substract the height of the 2x10 beam?
I'd like to know the answer of your question as well..
Thanks markthomasbuilder
Just bought a condo and have dreaded hanging pictures more than I dreaded the closing process. Your video is awesome and I ordered on Amazon right after watching it. Thank you!!
That's cool, thanks! I use mine all the time for a variety of projects.
Wow doggy!!! The Quick comnnect swivel mount is actually designed for your step ladder or framing studs or any similar fixed surface. The bracket is not for your camera bag! In fact you need no bracket at all because it mounts onto your camera's tripod using the threaded screw built into your tripod!
Yes, it's a great items that makes this laser extremely useful.
I have one and it is handy but it doesn’t make your standard level obsolete like you stated. When doing tile it’s nice to have the laser level but you still have to have a regular bubble level to work with as you work your rows up your laser line. Same with a bunch of other applications in remodeling. New tech in tools is nice but some of the classics will never be replaced out right. Otherwise your review was accurate and well done. 👍
Thanks, I get your point. I have an Empire torpedo level that I still use quite a bit, bot my 2' & 4' levels get used way less after using laser levels.
Thanks a lot for the video
You are welcome
I just bought a hauper box1g green lazer because the blinking drives you nuts and you can only use this for self leveling, no manual mode, the hauper can be used in manual even use with either horiz or vertical lines individually, the bosch is good but the blinking will get under your skin believe me :)
Awesome 😎
Thanks, it's a great tool to have.
Great video! Do you know how to get the horizontal line longer than the vertical without tilting it since that causes it to blink?
Thank you very much . Very appreciated. Just bought it but don’t really know how to use it . I am used to plomb etc
You're welcome. I think you'll find many uses for it and like how simple it is to operate.
I will be trying tomorrow to level a 1950 ceiling ...;/)
How to use horizontal level above 6 feet height say for door top level or wall mount tube light above 8 feet ? My tripod doesn’t goes up higher standard height 5 feet max so any thing above max tripod height cant be level ? Especially horizontal lines?
Great review! I’m looking to build an outdoor deck. I’m in Athens planning stage and looking for something to provide me a rough estimate / guide of where things should be in terms of height? Would this device be suitable?
Jim
Typo: *I’m in the planning stage*
If you're building a deck, you could use this at dusk to see the lines. It definitely comes in handy for a wide variety of projects.
markthomasbuilder Excellent Tip, Thanks!
Thanks was wondering why was the laser Lee cutting out
Thanks, glad to help.
Will this work on a ceiling? I’m trying to hang garage lights and want them to be in a nice grid pattern.
If you point it up, you'll get a straight line to work with. The light will blink as you're working, just to let you know it's not level. The 3-plane laser is your best bet for ceiling work, but it's more expensive.
Would this work well on a ceiling for lining up L.E.D pot lights?
Sure, it's like a big chalk line, great for lining things up.
Once I get a solid level line, can I simply tilt the tripod head and still be level even though it may blink?
Once the level is over 4 degrees off, it will blink. If it gets slightly bumped, it will self level again.
Dang, I bought this level and was hoping there would be an answer to stop that blinking every so often when pointed at an angle. That sucks you can't stop it from blinking.
The Milwaukee laser does the same thing, except it doesn't blink as fast.
It blinks to tell you that it is not level. Level it and it stops!
@@timothyjerwin187 Sometimes I can't get it high enough so I want to point it up to reach where I need. I guess it's not built to do that unfortunately.
Mıklantıslımı metale yapışıyormu
I thought up a pretty quick way to test how level the laser is instead of trusting masonry work or your eyes on a lake. . . With. . A level? Like the 4’ one you had in your hand, ha. Sorry to be Mr obvious, just, kept waiting for you to do that as I’m going to buy one of these today I think.
Haha, yeah, that's a good way to test it.
How does one charge for this service?
Instead of the lake comparison, could you not use a water level to check the level: water in a long clear tube?
Yes, absolutely that would work. I used to level piers for building structures with a water level. It's just as level as a lake or pond.
How do I get the horizontal line to show more than 2 feet like on the brick wall?
Is it really close to the wall? It sounds like it needs to be pulled further away. If you need a real wide line with the laser up close, there's some other options out there.
Does anyone got how accurate I it from 80ft or the plumb too
+ or - 4 degree. So, the balance cannot work close to the ceiling. Right, sir?
The laser is down about 1 inch from the top of the laser. The laser is self leveling unless it's more than 4° from being straight up and down. Does that help answer your question?
@@MarkThomasBuilderYes! Thank!
The light will never reach the ceiling without blinking unless your higher than your ceiling, correct?
What's the difference between the GLL 30 & the GLL 30 S?
Good question. It's possible that the 30S might include a storage pouch.
Mine isn’t so easy. The auto leveler doesn’t kick in when using the mount. I fooled with it for about 10 minutes and still got a blink.
It's either a defective unit, or it's not within 4 degrees of level. Sometimes it takes a good eye to get it close to level, so it doesn't blink.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I know it works, for sure. The tripod does the job but that mount is fickle. Seems like you have to be pretty spot on in order for it to pick up.
What?! When you tilted it in “manual mode” it flashed cause it wasnt level lol
Yes, basically making sure the user doesn't think it's level, so they added a blink feature. What would be cool is a red line for angles and a green line for level.
Do you use a 4' level and a pencil to hang pictures? Are you ready to give that up and just use a cross level laser?
You bet I would! Cross level lasers rock, only downside is they run out of batteries.
That's true. I'm guessing the batteries last a long time. The other advantage with the laser is that you don't have to put any pencil marks on the wall. The marks don't erase very well if it's a flat paint finish.
I will have to try it someday!
Why are they flashing?
It flashes when it's more than 4 degrees out of level. It flashes to let you know it's not level. You can use it angled for certain projects like installing a stair rail or diagonal tile.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks, I bought mine yesterday and I was curious why it kept flashing lol
I rate it at 3 stars. I purchased this product. Its useful for the price but there's one flaw.
If you use the device with a standard tripod, works great, but the clamp that comes with it is plastic and flimsy shit. The swivel head will definitely come loose after some time. make the clamp more solid and you'll get 5 stars from me. I'm returning it, as soon as i finish laying these tiles.
Thanks for the honest review. I have a shower I need to knock out. Going to try it out
Instructions tell you not to tighten too tight or that would happen.
Ohh...its free! Forabasic entry level....nit bad. But blinkjng led means its iff kevel....not accurate.
I bought it, and returned it. I am an engineer and I rejected it as crap. Why? You will have to buy a tripod that can raise it to the height "y-axis" , .... The height you are going to level. Crap it is. Imagine leveling anything higher than 6ft. "Crap" raised to power of infinity.
Really bad laser
What's the main issue? Accuracy?
Do not buy.
*So far, this device has performed as advertised. It's built rugged🌕 **allabout.wiki/GRL300HV** Bosch Self Gold the laser is easy to see and the storage case is well made*
