I like how the current akb48 member especially trainee are getting alot promotion and events.. unlike the older days just few member of new generation that get pushed/promoted by management..
Is there a reason for this in particular? I'm curious.
@@spicybentvreacts they have to. Like half (or more) of the members graduated in the last 1 year. They changed labels and management, I guess the new management just want to focus more on the future, so they are pushing the younger ones more.
If you want to check, their MV about 10 years ago (yeah they are that old, lol) have some of the most popular graduates who are very well known even until today in Japan. At their peak, they can sell out entire stadium for multiple shows easily. And by the time of the MV created, some already graduated. The song is AKB48 - "Kibouteki Refrain". Would love to see a reaction to that. Might see some familiar faces. below is the MV link,

I was aware of them way back then, i knew they were around during the 2nd KPOP generation but I was heavily into watching K-dramas during that time in the early 2000's and gravitated towards kpop more than jpop. It took almost another decade for me to expand my interests so to speak. Lol.

The main character, the center, for this song is Sato Airi. Airi is also the new center for AKB48's new single. Pushing these future generations forward to face the challenges.

1.The most common for former members to come back is on a current member's graduation performance.
2. Also, there are occasions when former members come back to perform for special event like an anniversary.
3. Because the AKB48 theater is going to be remodeled in the autumn. They actually is having former members back as guest performer quite regularly this year.
If they end up having a new concert, I would love to check it out online.
@@spicybentvreacts I don't know what you want to see exactly. But if you've never seen a theater performance, they released four of them during the start of covid "temporarily" and just never took them down (so don't be too loud about it...). Of these, I would recommend mokugekisha (目撃者) the most- it's one of my two favorites (other being Pajama Drive). It's just on their channel under lives, 4 years back.
Concerning J-idols, I mostly moved off the mainstream down to underground and like Neo Japonism, Qumali Depart, Kannagi Rabbits, and most codomomental groups, particularly zenbu kimi no sei da and seireki13ya. Not requests- they won't get you hits or anything, just if you're bored sometime check them out.
If you just sort by "popular" on their live page it should be the first one.
The last two concerts (outside their theater) were
1. Kashiwagi Yuki's graduation on March 16 2024, many former members that were close to Yukirin showed up and they performed some of the iconic songs that marked her career in the group, it's a very beautiful and touching concert
2. The spring concert on March 17 2024, this one focused on the current members and included both new and older songs
The next concerts will be the tour to celebrate the 17th generation and should start July 21st 2024.

Sorry for the second comment, and this will be quite long. If you want to try some "upcoming" Japan idol groups. By upcoming I mean, they are popular already in Japan, but not at that level as major label popular. Check the list below:
- #Babababambi - Seishun Guilty (czcams.com/video/_54E97hTRro/video.html) and their other wacky MVs (latest one "Geisha Fujiyama") that are doable to finish all of it to most recent one.
- iLiFE! - Cyclone Life! (czcams.com/video/n-Srh1jYgDA/video.html) there are the MVs but I think their live videos are better to enjoy.
- JamsCollection - New Era Punch! (czcams.com/video/CPFe2aIB5AI/video.html) there is also an MV. This video is from their last big concert. I particularly like "Equation of X", "Future Rider", and "Somosanseppa". In general their songs are really enjoyable.
These 3 are about the same level as Takane no Nadeshiko but with smaller backing of label. All of them already at Budokan level (able to fill Nippon Budokan for a concert). All struggled in the beginning due to debut around the pandemic. But managed to grow and even bring younger sister groups in the same agency.
A true upcoming group in 2024 in my opinion is Rough x Laugh, latest MV "Pappa" (czcams.com/video/WaKpa77VhUM/video.html).
Might want to check #2i2 - Monster Live (czcams.com/video/rxU59QIchco/video.html) they are #babababambi 1st sister group.
If you dig just slightly deeper of the groups mentioned you can have 2-3 months video material already I believe. There are more groups, but would love to see some reactions to these less known groups for international fans.
