Today I raced the 2022 Hackney half marathon which has to be one of the best supported half marathon races in the UK. The borough of hackney sure know how to show the love to the thousands of runners who took to the streets. Would highly recommend this one but just a week after the Copenhagen marathon this was a tough one for me!

It’s come to my attention that a runner at this years event lost their life. My thoughts and condolences are with the family at this point. ❤
Props for getting out there and racing again so soon after the marathon, like you say if you feel OK for it and ready to enjoy it then it can be done. Hadn't heard of Hackney half before but looks like a great one
5 days after a Herculean effort at the Copenhagen marathon Ben still manages to end the Hackney Half Marathon in 7th place🤣
Well done. I was the lady that gave you your medal and you kindly posed for a photo. Thank you.
Was lovely to meet you
Amazing stuff Ben. We need to remember that your fun pace would be a dream race pace for some of us 😅
I still gave it all I had on the day! Thanks Otto
Hey Ben, another great running video! Could you make a video about what you currently do for strenght/core workouts?
Well done mate - very inspiring!
Well done mate. Great stuff. Quality video as usual.
Thank you Jeffery
Well Done Ben!! 👏
i agree dont run a 1/2 marathon a week a full marathon. i did think during the first lockdown. so much slower than i wanted but still had a great time. you're a machine, keep it up
Ran this event and unfortunately wasn't prepared for the heat. Was a scorcher for the second consecutive year 🥵
It certainly was a warm one!
I would look up the 'magill 3' if your looking for a strong core that's functional for running. Also some basic rotation and anti rotation work 👌
I love the problem solving bit of running. Identifying the weak part from a previous race and working on it for the next one. It's a really satisfying thing to progress and get stronger each time. This was fun. I need to try some of that Puresport but not sure if shipping to Canada is crazy. I'll check.
It certainly is a fascinating aspect. Will build a stronger core and hopefully next time I’ll be able to stick with the pace
Great to see you encouraging running for fun and not just the entering of races that one can win, thanks for that💪
Yeah hopefully this video shows that even if your not in shape to run a Pb or be competitive you can still have a load of fun if not more
@@BenIsRunning Exactly😃
Hi Ben, it would be interesting to know more about your first steps into the running world. I know there's a video already saying something about it but I think you should cover your background in sports prior to running, how you got into it, first trainings and feelings, etc.
This is something I’ve covered in a few other videos :) maybe worth making another video though so thanks for the suggestion
Well done Ben you've been inspiring me with your videos lately 👍 I'm quite new to running and I too ran this race (first HM) Bloody hot by the time I finished! Keep up the great content
Hope you enjoyed it! 🎉
@@BenIsRunning Loved it! Festival atmosphere was amazing. Bit different from the Essex/Suffolk border lanes I'm used too 😉
Already back to a half?! Ben you're a machine!
I wish :) certainly didn’t feel like one 😂
Been binging you Ben for the last couple days you have gave me inspiration & motivation 😀 I am on a weight loss mission. 27yr old 18 stone and achieved my PB last night. 3km 16.12, extremely chuffed! Thanks dude
Love to hear it! All the best with your training 3)
You are not an idiot for doing something you love. The only way you personally will know what you can and cannot do as far as racing is to give e it a go and most importantly listen to your body. Some folks listen to the standard and never see for themselves. The reason we have world records is because they choose to do what was deemed "impossible".. You've done well.. keep it going!! You are inspiring!!
Thank you! Appreciate the support ❤
Cool to see Nick Bester in the video. Ayyy the crossover we’ve been waiting for.
Brilliant video Ben. Make sure you rest
Thank you penny!
Incroyable. Félicitations 👍
Thank you 🎉
Well in Ben 👍👏
Cheers Alex 😊
Yeah, I’ve been injured myself because I’ve jumped back into racing too soon after a marathon. The top marathon runners take a long time before they do but I know it’s tempting to try and get back quickly. I assume wanting good content for your channel and being asked by sponsors also plays a part.
Great performance by the way, given the circumstances.
Amazing Mate! UDAMAN! GG! Do a 10km next then a 5km. Four weekends in a row. Oh Yeah!!
Beast Ben 👊🏻
Thanks Matt
I couldn’t walk properly a week after I raced my quickest marathon so well done for running a half a week later !
Thank you
0:28 you can become a champion, but you will never leave Soreen. :D congrats bro!
Soreen is elite
Outside the medals…. but loving it!
Not to be today but once I dropped of the pace that’s when the real fun began! Even managed to grab some jelly babies
Racing a half so soon is properly mental 😂 fair play!
Not to be advised:)
Congratulations! It would help me if you told us what shoes you used and socks. thanks
Nike alphafly and puresport club socks
@@BenIsRunning Thanks!
Share that new ab routine in a video!
The Kit looked good!
Yeah very nice! Made in collaboration with pressio so that’s to be expected
25K SUBS BABYYYYYYY
❤❤❤
Third .. notification came late a well 🥳🥳🥳
Got to be quicker than that fabmystro 😂
@@BenIsRunning I know . A well sometimes gotta let someone else take the win to keep them motivated
Taking a fairly different experience away from the race than those who had to pay £60 for it. This year's was so much worse than previous, I personally don't think it's value for money whatsoever. Anyways, love the content keep it up!
£60 - to run in Hackney!! Ridiculous - Id rather pay £15 and do a half marathon in Richmond
Always been a rip off race and not power of ten
That is very expensive! The festival set up must of cost a fair bit I’m guessing but can understand why you’d be a little disappointed
Sir Ben, if you want to participate in the US Army 10-miler (In Washington DC) an event that started in 1985, usually has 30-35 thousand participants, this year its on 09Oct2022. You have a place to stay, if you wish. GG!
👍
need to do my 8-minute abs mate ;)
Legit bro, need to start adding it in! How regularly would you recommend, 2 times a week?
What happened to the parkruns?
Been too busy!! Long runs in the marathon build up had to take priority
They don't make Ben any money 😂
@@BenIsRunning I want to see you come and conquer the big hill at Finsbury parkrun
@@briankerr2989 He takes any race that gives him a free enty or kit
@@BenIsRunning yeah but surely can do a long run involving the parkrun
For easy ab strength and core fitness overall Ben, try hitting a heavy bag at a boxing gym. 11 rounds, 3 minute a round, 3 times a week.
Doesn’t sound like a bit of me I’m afraid 😂
Hey bro I am from india and iam 13 year old my 5k time is 25:38 and i became a marathon runner thanks
Best of luck with your running journey😊
@@BenIsRunning thanks for give me heart reply
Might feel ok, but takes a month to recover from a hard marathon. You will do more long term damage
I agree in terms of time needed to fully recover but long term damage is pushing it a little far. As long as you listen to your body there is no reason you can’t build on from a marathon effort and gain fitness in my opinion
Didn’t somebody die at this race?
A quick Google search confirms yes.
I hadn’t heard this information but it appears so. My thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the runner ❤
Didn't this guy only just run a full marathon? Are his legs not recovering? lol.
This guy did
Me first this time 😂
Where’s my medal Ben 😂👍
Another great video Ben always look forward to watching when I see the notification come in. Thanks for being a source of inspiration for me also. You are making this runner much better 👍
Here ya go lad 🥇
@@Eddie-Spaghetti love to hear that! Hope your training is going well
Second?
Yep 👍 😂
Another great video Ben!
