    Thanks for posting this. Maybe a dumb question.. But, I have oil around what looks like a allen headed drain plug on the bottom of the cooler. Is this actually a drain plug? If so, would oil, or coolant come out of it?

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 4 měsíci

      The oil cooler it self I could be wrong but I do believe that it does not have not there is a drain plug in the plate that attaches to the block that might have a drain plug but if it’s leaking you might want to replace and if your there already and your oil cooler is blue or green is original I would highly suggest replacing it since you there already.

    Hey Jose....thanks for posting your videos.They have really helped me coz I have the same truck..One of my radiator hose started leaking coolant and I had a mobile service replace the hose but I just realized there is oil in my coolant. topped off the coolant 10 days ago and there was no oil in it.Did you say it's better to replace the oil cooler or just the gasket that goes around it.Napa has these oil coolers for 465$ while kits are around 200$.

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 5 lety

      I believe they are cheaper on ebay

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 5 lety

      And no i wouldn’t just change the gasket you must replace the oil cooler and it never fails weeks or days maybe months after you change that the egr cooler goes out too i would highly recommend changing the egr cooler and oil cooler and flush coolant and oil and the egr valve also cleaned it because if it has gooey on it it will trow codes regarding the egr

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 5 lety

      If you do the oil cooler and egr cooler your looking about 1200 with ebay dont go dealership you would be looking around

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 5 lety

      Close to 2,200 if not more and to change those parts its not complicated you could do it your self you know how i know you can

    • @AtlanticTransportation

      Because i was in your shoes 3 years ago and the fact that parts were expensive and mechanics also were expensive i prayed and ask God for guidance and help and guess what

      Check for dirty egg valve. Makes turbo get too hot and shuts engine down.

    Hey Jose two questions. Could the oil cooler develop an external leak? And when replacing it is this something you recommend getting from the dealer or would aftermarket dorman one be ok?
    Thanks!

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před rokem +1

      Doorman is fine also but f the oil cooler is bad you should be able to read temp very close to each other on the actual cooler but what kind of issues are you getting

      @@AtlanticTransportation thanks for the reply! I have a minor oil leak that looks like it’s coming from the top of the cooler and running down. Haven’t had oil in the coolant yet but want to prevent it from getting that far if the gaskets are bad. I know the gaskets can fail and mix the oil and coolant but not sure if the cooler can leak oil externally or if I should keep searching for a different source of the oil leak. It looks like that’s about the only place it could be coming from, from what I can see.

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před rokem +1

      It can develop a internal leak for sure but also make sure is not your egr cooler or you exhaust manifold can sometimes leak is common make sure that you verify where the leak is at before replacing anything.

    When this goes out, does it smoke white? just replaced the EGR cooler and it ran fine for a couple days then it shut off and started to smoke with and sputtering.

      Usually when egr cooler is changed its recommended that you also change the oil cooler

      Are you lossing coolant and its not in the ground or leaking through hoses then your burning it in exhaust

      INTERNATIONAL 4300 DT466 SOLUTIONS
      Yes its not leaking out but coolant is a low, i pulled a code for VGT performance fault. Im guessing the oil cooler is causing that too?

    • @AtlanticTransportation
      @AtlanticTransportation  Před 6 lety

      I had the same problem on mine if the egr cooler goes bad all the coolant travels through the egr valve and mess up the egr valve if take off the egr valve and is full wet carbon looking then the oil cooler is going out
