It's also good to see that the certification of the 777-9 seems to be back on track!!! Now, if they could just get the 737MAX 7 and MAX 10 certified that would be great!!!

      I agree. This is the true 747 replacement. It may not carry as much as an A380, but it offers more capacity than anything Airbus has and, unlike the A380, will not require specialized facilities. The operational cost savings will be impossible to ignore for long-haul operators serving high-demand routes.
      That, of course, assumes that Boeing can deliver.

However while Boeing has a great future proof king of long haul, the Airbus A321XLR was a gap in the market that Boeing dont have a current counterpart, they missed the mark without a new 757

    My bet, companies must see 777X test data, which must show it is highly economical on fuel consumption. And you would be losing adv not having it in your fleet replacing older wide bodies. So everyone will continue rushing to cut the line for 777X.

    • @StopMediaFakery
      @StopMediaFakery Před měsícem +3

      I doubt that. The engines might be efficient but it's still a very big and heavy aircraft, much heavier than the A350. These airlines are likely just firming up their orders as the 777X enters the certification phase recently, after so many years of uncertainty. Boeing's reputation is in the toilet, which likely means big discounts on the list price. Airbus planes are in demand, which means high prices. Simple supply and demand economics. The A350 can seat 480 passengers, but requires 10 abreast seating. Some airlines just won't want to do that, which probably explains the orders from Emirates and Qatar. Tim Cook also complained about how the engines on the A350-1000 perform in the weather conditions of the UAE, though some argue there's more to it than that.

      That’s not the right way to look at it, that airplane today is scheduled to launch in 2030. So you’re waiting until 2032 to get an airplane in 2024, the 777xf and -8 have the exact same airframe. Which means, it the same airplane, so it’s not a failure. 777X is 15% heavier, 25% more expensive, has 20% less range than A350. In return it can carry 9% more payload, if airlines can fill (Remember what the problem with A380 was). It doesn't look like a good tradeoff.
      It will only work for certain customers who has condensed passenger traffic in certain routes, e.g. Emirates.
      A350-1000 is also a perfect replacement for 777-300ER where 777-8 is inefficient, 777-9 too big, 787-10 too small.
