  • A full length Feldenkrais inspired movement class to help free up the shoulders. Every Monday morning I teach a movement class in Rutland. Officially its called a Pilates class but I use a lot of Feldenkrais movements in it as I love the way they help my students to make changes. During the summer I taught this sequence to my students and they asked me to record it so they could also do it at home and I am really happy to share it on my CZcams channel.

Last three morning I followed Fabulous Abdominals, Rolling to sit and this. Every single lesson I need and enjoy. It requires much effort to understand English explanations, even less understanding, I have enjoyed your lessons for four months. I am eased by this lesson. I thank you very, very much this morning.

This is what helped me recover after falling down playing Pickleball. Fell on right side hip & shoulder.watched & did so many CZcams videos for shoulders. This is the one I will be recommending in our Pickleball community. There will be more I’m sure, we are in our 70s & 80s.Thank you for being so kind to bring this to CZcams.

That would probably be safer than simply asking you to leave your email address here. Best wishes Stewart

Really enjoyed getting the chance to follow a full-length Feldenkrais lesson. There are very few opportunities online to explore a lesson with this kind of thoroughness.
I appreciated the addition of what felt like preparatory movements, such as working with the ankles before bringing the feet up, or tilting the hips and rolling the lower back before opening up the chest and shoulders. Those extra rungs on the ladder really helped me feel into spaces in my torso that I don't usually sense as much when I'm doing a lesson that focuses on just a few key movements because those sensations got lost in the middle when most of my attention is on performing the movements themselves. That care and attentiveness were really nice additions; I never felt hurried. I think the only thing I would've liked, as I followed along at the pace set by the video, were a few more moments of rest in between some of the longer sections, so that I could digest some of the cues as to where things were changing in my body.
Thank you for making this unique video. My shoulders thank you as well :)

Thank you very much for the feedback Empty Form. The demographic of the classes that I teach in Rutland tend to be slightly older and so I include these preparatory movements to help my students access the class. You make a very good point about the rests. I am always a little unsure of how to include these without making the video itself too long.

Fabulous! Such clear instruction and my back feels as light as a feather. (Just out of curiousity; feldenkrais teachers vary so much in their approach, from the meditative ( the 'there is no wrong way' approach) to instructional (there is a correct wayor at least more helpful way..) How did Feldenkrais himself intend it to be taught?)

Thank you Catherine. I don't think he intended 'one way' provided the fundamental ideas of his Method are honoured. He said he was not a teacher but someone who provided the best circumstances for his students' brains and nervous systems to learn. Personally if I found a 'teacher' who claimed to know THE WAY I would run for the hills. For me it's what works for my students and me.

Around 32 minutes you talk about bringing the shoulder up as the knees come closer to centre point . Is this intentional ? Lift the shoulder and knees come back to centre ??
