Beautifully filmed, and easy to follow ...but could yu please explain, how and why you use the white colour pencil ?? Is it a blender ??
Thank you so much. Do you mean the Derwent Drawing pencil? If so, it’s very soft and waxy, so yes, it does blend and smoosh together the colours a bit, and then allows me to add more colour on top. You can also use it to add white highlights or individual rays of light too, as it shows up well over other pencils.
Beautiful. When your pencil is ready to be retired, do you buy them singley?❤
Thank you so much. Yes, Polychromos are available in open stock, so you can buy individual pencils as you need them ❤️❤️
Gorgeous! Is that the order of the pencils you used in layers etc. Would love to try it
Yes, I show you the full order I do things in the video. Depending on how heavy handed you are, you may find that you need more or less layers to get the same effect, but the colours are always the same, so you can just repeat a few of the steps until you get the a point you’re happy with. I like to use a sharp point with light layers when working with Polychromos, as it’s the best way of getting into the tooth of the paper gently.
Hope that helps 💖
I'm learning so much about layering and blending from this video! I am finding it challenging to put down color as lightly as you do. Is this a difference between the Polychromos pencils and the Prismacolor pencils which I am using or is it a matter of practice?
I’m so glad you are learning lots. With putting down colour, try holding your pencil further back to reduce the pressure you’re using, this should hopefully allow you to add lots of light layers. Yes, this is definitely the biggest difference I’ve found with Polychromos bs Prismacolor. Because Prismacolor Premiers are very soft, you end up laying down a lot more pigment even with a light hand, which can be great if you are short on time. With Polychromos thought, by adding in different colours to the layers, you can create so many amazing effects and have the colours play off each other.
@@MaritsColourfulAdventures Thank you for your help!
For the colour dark indigo can I use kind of deep purple ?
You could. I sometimes use the mauve or something like the Delft Blue in some of my layers. If you want it really dark, you could also use the darkest blue you have, and add a tiny bit of black in one of the layers to darken it up more.
@@MaritsColourfulAdventuresohhh ᵗʰᵃⁿᵏ ʸᵒᵘ for the advice..appreciate it 😍
