  • Today I am making a Halloween inspired magical shelf in Rooms of Wonder, the new Colouring book by Johanna Basford. I am using my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and my Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer watercolour pencils (all pencils colours listed below). While I've coloured all three items in one go, this tutorial can easily be broken down into the individual pictures if you are short on time.
    For the background I've taken inspiration from ‪@blackaneri‬ who did a similar version in Ivy and The Inky Butterfly. She does use different pencils to me (I think Castle Arts and Goldfaber Aqua), so I've adapted this to what I have, but I encourage you to check out her Instagram for some amazing artwork

    I'm so excited to finish this page, especially because it was one of my first coloring lessons. Now that I feel a bit more confident using the Albecht Durer colored pencils I will revisit the backgrounds for each mini. Very grateful that I've left 5 of them undone 🎉 I can't wait to see how I do! Thank you so much 💞 💓

    I love this! You done an excellent job at capturing the look of Black Aneri's artwork. She blows me away! Do you prefer these watercolor pencils over the Inktense pencils when creating a background like the one here as far as the end result? I'm curious because I don't have the other pencils but am considering getting some. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

    • @MaritsColourfulAdventures
      @MaritsColourfulAdventures  Před rokem +1

      She is amazing!! Thank you so much. Yes, I think I’m slightly more inclined to use the Albrecht Dürer pencils. I find they are more forgiving, and because they aren’t permanent I have a bit more playroom for fixing mistakes compared to the Inktense. I also find the colour to be very true to the colour of the outside of the pencils, so it reduces the need to have a swatch chart next to you as you would need with Inktense, so I find I can work a bit faster.

      All my music if from Epidemic Sound. There is a link in the description. I often use the music from Trevor Kowalski, Johannes Bornlōf, Franz Gordon and a few others, so those would be a good start.

      Do you ever use the souffle gelly rolls? I was thinking they would cover the black lines really well since the are so opaque once dry ..

  • @jenniferdennison8315
    @jenniferdennison8315 Před 4 měsíci +1

    This music reminds me of edward scissor hands or nightmare before christmas ... beautiful and a lil spooky lol.. anyone know what its from?

    • @MaritsColourfulAdventures
      @MaritsColourfulAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +2

      That’s exactly why I chose that music 🧙‍♀️It’s from the platform Epidemic Sound (there is a link in the description), which is a subscription service for royalty free music, so it’s made especially for places like CZcams etc. just search for Mysterious. And I have used music by Trevor Kowalski, Jon Bjōrk to name a few.

    Very ethereal, really nice blending … BIG question, How is this paper holding the water brushing color?🎃

    • @MaritsColourfulAdventures
      @MaritsColourfulAdventures  Před rokem +4

      Thank you so much. The paper did buckle a little bit, but it doesn’t run off or anything like that. Usually the buckling can be fixed once dry by stacking some heavy objects on top of the book.

      @@MaritsColourfulAdventuresit also helps to use masking tape in beginning and tape your page down to some scratch paper it holds it flat and helps with the buckling
