I bought an XL. It came without cruise, crank windows etc. To add cruise required buying a new steering wheel off eBay for fifty bucks and getting the dealer to activate cruise. cruise is built into every truck and can be added as a dealer option. I bought an after market security system for about two hundred and it came with remote keyless entry and the capability to control electric windows. We bought and added the window regulators and switches, again as recycled parts for a few bucks and added them. A 2 inch receiver hitch kit for the truck costs about $120 and when bolted on lets you tow. The vast majority of work trucks come configured for towing so the cooling is there and at least a bumper hitch is included. Once you add the receiver hitch you are good to go. For the trailer brake controller, it was a "dealer installed option" I bought one off ebay for a few bucks and installed it myself. Generally the wiring is already in place to accept this kind of dealer option. You can purchase an XL for thousands less than a "fully equipped truck" and for a little effort and a few bucks you can make it into a good, solid truck with the options you want. The only thing that you CANT change economically is the power train. I drove my F150XL for five years and enjoyed it very much until I needed to tow two cars over the hill. The base engine just was not up to the task. On the flat, it was fine. Went to Texas and back with a car hauler and no issues. You do a good job of describing the base truck but there are lots of options that for the right buyer make it very attractive

I don't know how people can talk about this like this is normal! I'm a small business owner and the mere fact that a work truck is over $50,000 is ridiculous!!!! The last truck I bought was a well equipped 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 for $35,500 out the door. I've been shopping for a truck now for 3 months and cannot believe the price of 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton trucks. I know I cannot be alone in this. I cannot see putting my business at risk for $1,000 a month payment for a work truck. Please keep the smart-ass comments to yourself. I understand that three-quarter ton truck inventory is low. This is not what I'm talking about. I am talking about overall MSRP pricing.

$28,940 in year 2021 is equivalent to $25,153 in year 2011. Inflation is driving up cost but you’re getting a better built vehicle with better power, better MPG, better safety, better payload and towing capacity, and more comfort than you did 10 years ago. A lot more value today than back then. So that $4,000 increase really comes with a lot.

I know 5 star is the sponsor of this video but they are like Walmart when it comes to Tunes. Generic tunes for Tow / MPG / RACE / etc . . . When I bought my 2016 F150 Platinum 3.5 EcoBoost I wanted some more power and I contacted 5 star tune in 2016 and I purchased three Tunes from them tow haul fuel economy and race tune so I loaded it up in my tuner and put the tune in my truck and back then it took about 30 minutes to load a single and I literally could not notice a difference between Factory Ford and 5 star. Long story short after some research I found SSI Southern speed Incorporated and my tune from them felt like swapping a 4 banger for a BIG BLOCK V8 . It was insanely powerful and I will be a customer of theirs for life.

For these prices I'm looking at a HD Truck, but that's me. Of course not everyone one can utilize a truck of such, or properly due to the emissions equipment. You gotta wait for the big cash back and negotiate so that way you get the 10-15k in discount for the nice xlt or lariat, with will still be expensive for most people. Here in Co most house are 380k to start, add family, 2 vehicles, you'll need around $110-150k annually to be normal middle class. It just shows you how close people are living towards the edge when you see very nice vehicles 50k+ in most of the neighborhoods, very few actually can afford them on the financially 5-8% of them. Even if you lease them most of the payments are nearing the 1k mark with no money down unless its the special.

  • @robertwalker9638

I am not exactly a Ford fan. Fox ignition switch, Wilderness and Steeltex tires, cruise control disconnect, etc. However, when it came to move from a one ton dually to something a little more civilized, Ford became the only option for a 1/2 ton truck. Ford has the best option choice of the other brands. You can pick and choose exactly what you want, if you are patient enough to order and wait for delivery. Ford's option choice is varied, and if you spend enough time, you can get exactly what you want. Not so with the other two US brands. Don't even go there with imports, it is basically, take to leave it. Speaking of economy, I gassed up a 3.5 Lariat with optional gas tank in Jackson, WY and the dash read 962 miles to empty.

It's a little easier to park. The shorter wheelbase is better for off road. The 6 1/2 will give a little better ride on the highway and better towing stability. The FX package will reduce both the payload and towing capabilities.

This is Andre. I was thinking about this question for a long time. The 6.5-foot bed is very handy to carry more stuff. If I wanted a full-time camping truck, I would go with a longer bed. However, the shorter bed offers more payload, and it is a little more manageable off-road. This is my thinking behind 5.5-foot bed. I am also worried a bit about the turning radius for daily driving.

One thing I may add to the context of the high MSRP pricing on these trucks is that if you're a savvy shopper and have time to wait for the best deals to strike, you may be able to get incentives close to (if not equivalent to) the ~$14,000 off MSRP I'm seeing on 2020 models now that it's the new year. To me, that's a fantastic deal if you can grab a 2021 XLT w/ PowerBoost, FX4, and 7.2kW Onboard in the sub $50,000 range at the beginning of 2022.

The mirrors on the truck are not the greatest they leave a big blind spot that makes it hard to see what is beside you. The design of the mirrors is the problem. The rearview is to small and the side Mirrors were designed to lay flat so they are trapezoidal, this leaves the widest part of the mirrors way out at the edge the housing. So to get a good view you have to push the tilt back more then should be needed to see behind and to the side of you.

I have two f150's, 1997 & 2019. While installing a Roush CAI on the 19, it was still running when I popped the hood, I was surprised to see a "Hood Ajar" indication. With that said, WTF can't they put a "Tail Gate Ajar" or "Tail Gate Down" indication. I have tonneau covers on both and on more than a few occasions I left "contents" on the ground. I figure since they spent the time to let me know what's going on in front of me, how about letting me know what I can't see. Also, luv my engine compartment light on the 97.

Ford needs a standard six more like Chevy's. People don't want that high winding buzzy horsepower, but the low end torque that doesn't make the truck feel like it's struggling all the time. Best thing about Ford is ability to still get short wheelbase reg cab and 8ft extended cab that others no longer offer.

Andreeeeee!!!! I need your help, please!!! I'm getting a mix of responses and I feel you are the man to speak to! Ford can be very confusing. I have been reading the 2021 Ford Towing Guide. Here is my scenario and please let me know if I am on the right track. I'm purchasing a boat and will receive it in August. The boat loaded (gas/engines/water) is 8500 lbs. The trailer for the boat is approx 1,200 lbs. To be conservative let's say I will be hauling 10,000 lbs WITHOUT A WD HITCH. I am considering a 2021 F-150, Lariat, Supercrew 4x4, 145.4 WB (short box) with a 3.5 V6 Ecoboost, 3.55 axel ratio, and Max Trailer Tow Package. The guide says this config = 13,900 lbs towing capacity (page 20 of the guide). This is not a work truck, so payload will just be people. I like to have as much room to play with even though won't exceed the 13,900 towing capacity the guide says or get near it. Unless I get a larger boat :0). The load cap is around 1,700 lbs more or less, and I am aware this number is lowered by the tongue weight. Based on these specs, AM I GOOD? Tongue weight should be between 600-800 lbs so no problem there. My confusion is...... Why does the trailer hitch say on the sticker under the vehicle, Class IV with a max tongue weight of 500 lbs and max conventional towing of 5k lbs? I've looked at several trucks with the above specs and every single hitch says the same thing??? Doesn't the hitch need to be a class V? Does this not matter because of the way the vehicle is ultimately configured? P.S. I wish they were as simple as GM/Chevy where they put the capacity nice and clear on all the trucks. It avoids having to do so much research.
