I'm not super tight on my history but you're probably more correct. I've heard both names but I've really only been personally exposed to 'apache whip' so it's the one we use but you're right on!

Question. What if the follower is shorter than the lead? How to level the height difference during the hand transition?

Hello,
You want to make sure that the followers arm does not get stuck in an uncomfortable position. So the arm needs to come down before going back up.
If your partner is significantly shorter then this may be difficult without squatting, but if it’s only a little difference in height then you should still be able to lower the arm first. 😊
