- Hello friends, today we're speaking about how to become a Cruise Ship Doctor. Imagine travelling around the seas, practicing medicine and visiting loads of new places, sounds appealing? It may be more stressful that it appears. My friend Dr Kieran Kavi has had the opportunity to speak to a cruise ship doctor about their journey and what the job is really like.

thanks for sharing that!! as a medical student with a wanderlust have been looking for ways to do that post-grad
This was very interesting. On recent cruises two different cruise companions had to go to medical. One had lots of tests like an EKG and X-ray the other just needed a Covid test. Both visits were quite interesting to see the area and all that they were able to do.
Great video 🔥
Loved this!
Thanks Ezgi!
This is great information ❤. One thing I want to add, the infection control protocols are being implemented by public health technicians and practitioners now instead of nurses. Public health professionals are more knowledgeable about outbreaks and how to resolve them quickly. Technicians/professionals/practitioners (AS-BPH/MPH/DPH) are taught how to apply scientific modeling in disease prevention education instruments. You are right the med docs work crazy hours on that boat and so does the public health director/inspector/officer.
As a future Filipino doctor, this is gold. 😂
Nice idea bro
hey kiran….nice to see you again man ! ❤️
Thanks dude!!
That actually sounds quite miserable work with little pay.. reminds me of my House Officer years lol
Very cool video kiran
Really appreciate your effort mate .. great info in short amounts of time ❤……
Thanks John!
Can you make a video for paramedic??
Wow pay is trash, can make easily twice that in the US
do they get paid for each patient consultation on top of the basic salary?
What about paramedics
Does the cruise line give free/discounted cruise vacations to the doctor?
How to apply as doctor in cruise ship plz shear
How to become cruise ship nurse ???
Your 20s are for experimentation so time to become a boat doctor 🗿
Lol
I really want to know how about lab technician on the ship , can u talk about it
From what I hear, the nurses do labs but it does not hurt to look on the website and apply.
Can you recommend any agencies to apply to
A really want to go this route
I don't sorry!
Only they hire consultants or is it enough to be medical officer witj three year experience in A&E?
I actually am not sure
I really appreciate this video, do you have the agencies names to apply?
I do not unfortunately but asking normal locum agencies may be a good start!
I am from Turkey and my medical degree is not recognitioning by UK. Am i still being able to become a cruise ship doctor at UK or do i have to get an equivalency certificate or something?
Hello from Saudi Arabia.
As brother, if you wanna work at sea exactly on the cruise ?
Just go to the maritime academy in Turkey, with all of your certificate’s.
Usually they will ask you to take some courses ( basic safety ) STCW.
After finish all courses, maxximum one month, you will be free to work at sea.
Finally,
guys please don’t hold ur self and ur dreams, if no one accepts ur experience or certificate’s because I’m sure u will find other options and offers in somewhere. Good luck
@@capt_haitham thank you so much
I don't know specifically, apologies!
Hey I’m a dentist
I’m interested in working on a cruise ship as a doctor so what education do I need to Pursue to work as a junior doctor at the cruise
Most cruise ships you must be an ER doctor or have experience in handling emergencies. I am a public health doctor but cannot work the medical clinic. The qualifications are not too high becuade of the physical demand but the basic quals is ER residency
That’s so little money for doctors
I heard in a 6 months contract, 4 months work and 2 months off . For each of the 6 months they pay 6k/month , not so?
This is just the information he got dude!
Terrible pay high ammount of hours not for me but nice to know.
It appears to be 8k but in the US docs are paid 10-15k a month depending on where you go and your quals. Yep the physical demand is high based on the videos
Hello Kiran, I really appreciate your work. The Content is super amazing and very informative. However, you seem to be inconsistent in the content post and Video editing. I know you're swamped with work and have busy days. So for these reasons, I want to be part of this journey and would like to assist you in all aspects of social media growth from editing to creativity. My experience will surely save days-hours of time and effort. Please let me know when you are available to discuss this.
I’ve already got a team, thanks though! Inconsistent with posting means I’ve taken a week break after posting every day for 2 months 😂😂
Working on a cruise ship it is very hard, especially medical and guest services. Many did not get back after covid.

Awesome!
