The game director, Jonathan Warner, said, "Without revealing too many details, Anthem, at its heart, is about the progression of your javelin, your powers, and chasing rare loot." This was stated in a recent interview about having less branching stories in Anthem. Personally, this doesn't sound like an RPG. More like a shooter looter, making it as much of an RPG as Borderlands or Destiny.
As much as Anthem devs are constantly contradicting themselves about the game (as highlighted in YongYea's recent video), I don't have any hope or interest in the game. I am more concerned about whether DA4 will be released and the quality of it considering the rumors of the story being rebooted and "live elements" being added. Whether you liked DA3 MP or not, it was extremely broken.

I just want me some Dragon Age. Anthem better be phenomenal if they're sidelining Dragon Age for it . I'm on the fence with Anthem, multi player doesn't appeal to me.

Sadly the more I see of this game, the more disappointed I feel :( This is simply not the game I want, it's not a RPG and it just looks / feels like another Destiny or The Division type game.. bah.. too few companies make high quality RPGs, I look to Bioware to make RPGs... not action nonsense game :(
They still havenât shown us any Story or Choices. As a huge Bioware fan, I havenât seen anything interesting from Anthem.
There's a few choices if you slow down the second video (I believe) video they play. There's one where you OK what the Dominion say or call them a bunch of murderers to Layton's face (the ex-Dominion). Similar to what they usually do with Mass Effect, they're keeping story under wraps hard. (I miss Dragon Age for how open the devs from that upper management team were there) There's also I believe chance to possibly get someone kicked out of Fort Tarsis, though I couldn't tell from the phrasing whether that was a joke or an actual plot point when said
No proper story choices. It's a looter shooter with a heavy cooperative element. If you're not on board then just wait for something else.
Extremely glad to hear that they're giving us face-to-face conversations again. I love-love-love Inquisition and Andromeda but it really struck me in Inquisition how impersonal a lot of quests felt purely because I basically didn't see the quest-giver's face.
Same! I'm so glad they mentioned that because what made things special in earlier BW games (DAO, KOTOR) was that soooooo maaaaany interactions were face-to-face. Makes things all the more special.

So there are NPC characters to quest with?
The Demo: So with the Demo being February 1st, that will almost run into the Trial/Early Access on the 15th. It's essentially a 'soft launch' of the game up to 3 weeks pre-'official' launch, starting with the people who pre-ordered. They got stung hard with the Mass Effect Andromeda trial so they are clearly being much more careful this time.
Am I the only one seeing Mass Effect Andromeda in both Anthem and Destiny?
I would not be surprised if we find out Anthem is 600 years in the future of Andromeda. Maybe that group that broke away on Pedronas or the anti AI group or Cerberus agents.

The game looks soooo bad. The gameplay looks boring, like destiny with mech suits. Why EA got Bioware to make this instead of Dice is beyond me, really hope they dont shut down Bioware when this game flops.
phrasing! saying the game looks bad TO YOU because of the lack of RPG Elements is a very valid argument. But saying the game just looks bad overall is very, very dishonest of you.

I'm more than likely gonna be asking a really silly question here, but...what is the world like? The current situation, the area we keep seeing? I'd imagine it's already been told somewhere and have just forgotten it or something, but...I can't really make heads or tails of what this game is supposed to be, besides it being a shooter/action game.
Sooo the world has consistently aggro and chaotic storms in different parts of the world because the gods deserted it before completion. We (the freelancers) want to neutralize the threat because this causes too much destruction. Another faction called the Dominion want to control the power that creates the chaotic storms. But in reality, can't really do much to solve the impending chaos because the Freelancers have descended from grace, in the eyes of the public. So you gotta fix that and gain some power so you can start knocking heads.
Hmm, Andromeda's tech test got cancelled. Hopefully this won't be.
I still have zero interest in this game...the multiplayer focus is a huge turn-off.
To me this is not a BioWare game.
you can still solo it man. even Mark Derrah said it himself on Twitter you can solo this game if you want. :)

You can matchmake with regards to everything. Also, it's a new IP. Stop placing such an emphasis on what they've done before. This is what's popular now. Like it or not. If you want single player narrative driven games there are still plenty to choose from. And stop acting like this means they're creative directions are changing indefinitely. It's ridiculous and very dramatic.

Well - that remains to be seen. From the reactions I have seen so far, Anthem may not sell as well as EA may hopes. Of course, some seems to like Anthem, but a lot of old Bioware fans ... not so much.
the "not recommended" is for stronghold mission not for normal mission who can be played without problem.
Why do you all here in the comments feel so entitled to Bioware to feel like you can say what is or what is not a Bioware game? Why do you keep expecting Anthem to be an RPG when from the very first second they did say it wouldn't be? Why do you keep setting up yourselves for dissapointment its like y'all want a reason to shit on Bioware just because they are doing something diferent of what they have already done. If you're not interested its okay you don't have to play every single game a developer makes, but at the same time they don't owe you nothing and y'all should keep that in mind when criticizing a game you might not want to play.

You can't deny that he has a point though . At the end of the day however , if Anthem fails those who will suffer the most will be the ones who actually give a damn about the game and/or spent their money on it in the first place , not the ones who dislike it or couldn't care about it's success/failure .

I am very interested. I love personal armored suits. I have already preordered.
I'm looking forward to this, not for the story aspects but more since the gameplay looks to be really enjoyable from what I've seen so far. For a game like this the story isn't that important in my eyes
multiplayer focused games are a huge turn-off for me don't get me wrong they can do it right but it causing every other game to be multiplayer focused ie what fortnite and pubg is doing with battle royales
For me its not really a Bioware game. I could even say that Bioware is not Bioware anymore, with how many people have left the studio. Any studio could have made this Destiny like game. The deep and branching story, the companions and relationships, have been sacrificed for multiplayer. I will not be playing this game. First time I will walk away from a Bioware game.
knights of the old republic ...dragon age origin ...jade empire ...mass effect 0ne and two are some of the best games ever to be developed by any one not just bioware .... to bad ea and bioware sucks now
