    Good video. I have a smallish board with half a dozen full size quality pedals but also two mini pedals. The two ‘mini’ pedals I have (and would not be without) are the Xotic SP Compressor and EP Booster. These are two stunning high quality mini pedals that add sustain sparkle, boost and tonal character to your sound. Highy recommended. I use a Blackface Fender with P90’s and I have a beautiful clean sound with these two pedals adding a blend of richness and character.

    If you want to create a compact pedalboard, I would really recommend getting the Caline CP-09 tuner that's also a power supplier on its own. It creates so much extra space. And it is surprisingly cheap as well. Check it out.

    I'm currently building a mini board too. I used all Ibanez pedals they fit really snug together and make the board look really clean if you're ok with the patch cables being pushed down between the pedals and thru the board. I used a Metro 24 board though because I added a mini Cry baby wah pedal. For the power I used CIOKS 7 and 4 together. Im at a crossroads right now because the power is slim enough to fit underneath but I've got plenty of space on top. I'm also considering a switcher which would then take the extra space. haven't got that sorted yet. Good build!

    Hey all, firstly wanted to say I loved the video, but I have some advice that can improve it. I actually have the same pedalboard and power supply, and also used to have it on top of the board. There is a space under the board that the block fits, but you can't get the cable for the power supply in f it's there. Easy fix is to cut a power supply sized chunk out of the beam underneath, set the power supply there, and voila, two/three extra pedals!

    I'm uneducated on electronics, but I'm confused about some of these pedals being powered by the L6 power connections on the Pedal Power 2. I thought the L6 ports put out higher amperage, that I wouldn't think you'd want going to these kinds of pedals. From the Voodoo Labs website, it seems like the two SAG ports can be "normal" based on a switch. Lots to learn....

    • @freddysnip6257
      @freddysnip6257 Před 2 lety +2

      That is true, actually you daisy-chain 2 pedals then, the tuner and another pedal of your selection. And there is no problem in doing so, as long as you hook up nothing fancy. A Tubescreamer, or a Boss Chorus for instance will give no issues. I'm using 9 pedals on my board in combination with the Voodoo Power Lab with 8 outputs. Thanks to my Boss Tuner I could power all 9 pedals with it.

    • @chikn35
      @chikn35 Před 5 lety +6

I'm really a luthier making banjos and acoustic guitars.

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Před 7 lety +1

      I suppose Luther Perkins was from a pre-pedal era, so for an authentic sound you probably don't need much - just a nice guitar into a tweed Fender type amp. Possibly a delay pedal to simulate the studio tape echo sound Perkins used. Maybe a reverb pedal too if it's not built into your amp. Reverb and slapback delay will definitely help those bass notes pop out.

    I see here you have the metro 16 with the massive pedal power too supply on the top I recently bought the metro 24 and I'm looking to fit the pedal power X4 unit on the top of my board because the metro 24 like the metro 16 doesn't have enough space underneath. I also see that you have some rather large pedals on this board in addition to the pedal power two I'm a little worried that the pedals I'm going to use and the pedal power for won't fit on top of the board I don't know if you know the pedals I talk about but I have most of all of fenders new pedals and their rather large but they don't seem as large as some of the ones you have on your board and if you are able to fit the pedal power X2 on top of the metro 16 which I thought was impossible do you think I would be able to fit the pedal power X4 the Fender engager boost the fender Bends compressor and the fender Santa Ana overdrive all on the top of the metro 24?You seem to be able to do it with the metro 16 but I'm not sure if Fenders pedals are much larger than yours

    Very similar to what I have done, also in a need of a small board to carry around. Yes, the Moore Black Secret is quite nice, one of the best dirt pedals Moore has released - also got an F-Pedal distortion and an One Control delay - but the rest is quite similar to your set up - a HOF and a Ditto at the end with the mini Poly Tune at the beginning. Though why not insert the power below? Why take up so much vital space on placing it on the top? Note that Pedaltrain has just released an excellent power brick, the Spark - very small yet extremely powerful - fits perfectly under a Nano board.

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Před 6 lety

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Před 7 lety +4

      Good question. Could probably do another video to answer it. Sure there are people who know more about this than me, but i think of them as 3 different flavours of drive. Overdrive is more natural, like a nice amp breaking up. Distortion is more rock/metal. Fuzz is, er, fuzzy sounding. DS1 is a great pedal and you can get a good range of sounds from it, so that might be all you need depends on what kind of music you're making.

  • @originalsongsbyjonathanlew1512

    I always put my tremolo pedal last in the chain.

    Hey no Chorus pedal? If you were going to use one, where would you put it?

    • @Wrokhx
      @Wrokhx Před 3 lety

      Typically modulation after drive but before time. Between the rat and the delay. In this case I'll go before the tremolo, but just because I'd like to hear the tremolo more if I've got both on

    Beginner guitarist.. It's stupid how expensive pedals are. Never would I have guessed that's how much guitarists were spending on pedals. Unreal.
    I just looked up the tumnus, it's 150ish. WHAT. Guess I'll just stick to donner/behringer pedals.

      I think they make a lot of profit on them. I’m making a first pedal board and it’s difficult finding good value for money

      Wouldn't the RAT clone do a passable fuzz with everything maxed out? I think I would swap the fuzz for a chorus too - more Cure, Nirvana, Siouxsie, surely? And that is the stuff to play - as you have demonstrated!

    hi Adrian - excellent review of mini pedals! I may give a try to the Tumnus overdrive as it sounds very natural indeed. Just a question: I see no noise gate. Any issue with noise when you play your lovely Jazzmaster? I have a Moer Noise Killer in my chain. Thanks

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Před 7 lety

      Thank Fabio! Yes, loving the Tumnus at the moment. Using it for nearly all of my recent videos. I've never used noise gates, not sure why. Noise is only a problem for me if I'm using tons of distortion or air I'm stacking multiple drive pedals which is not that often. I'm usually just very quick on the guitar volume control and turn everything down when necessary.

    I don't understand mini-pedals. Since they have side jacks they take up the same space as a standard size pedal with top jacks. Just have to convince pedal builders to put the jacks on top!

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Před 7 lety

      Good point - not thought of it like that before. Wonder why no one's made a pedal with jacks on the top?!
