  • The Mamiya 645 (m645 1000S) has been my favourite film/analogue camera since I first got it. However, even though it has been my favourite film camera, it does have some negative points with it and in this video, I will be sharing those point as well as my overall thoughts on this camera based on how I've used it and hopefully you all can gain something from this video! :-)

    The viewfinder going dark is because your aperture is small. Switch the lens to "A", and if you need depth of field preview theres a little lever on the front.
    That basically makes the lens stay open aperture and then close down for the shot

    It's possible that the foam cushioning which dampens the impact of the mirror has deteriorated and become sticky. If so, merely replace it. Kits are available

    My battery lasted years. I’ve just changed it for the first time, having got the idea to take some Argentic photos.

    Hi we exactly have the same problem wherein the mirror doesn't stay up without film but with fim loaded, it occasionally sticks up, however, this doesn't affect the shutter since the shutter still operates normally, it's just the mirror that stays up. You can bring down the mirror by switching to mirror lockup and then switching it off again using the lever. Hope that helps :>

    Hi and thanks for the video. I think those lomography grey films are rebranded fomapan film. I'm sure you can find fomapan easily in Europe so if you haven't yet, give it a try!

    Maybe you need to take peoples comments onboard and reframe the video - or maybe maybe a part 2 with this in mind? It seems the Mamiya 645 is reliable, just a few things to learn with how it works! 😁

      Thank you very much for watching and for commenting. Regarding the comment by others, I am not saying that the Mamiya 645 family is not reliable, they are. Furthermore, the comments made others that assumes the problem that I have with my shutter is not the same as my problem that I actually have with my shutter (as I have also explained in those replies). My problem is very specific to the 1000s model of the Mamiya 654. This has also been confirmed by the service staff as well. That said, in all other aspects, this camera still remains my favourite film camera that I own and still takes great photos. I am happy for you if your Mamiya 645 1000s is working perfectly because this camera can really take a beating and also can deliver great results. I thank you very much for watching and for your kind suggestions, I also hope you understand my perspectives as well that other people's comment on mu shutter issue isn't addressing the particular shutter problem that I have and I am only making that comment to help people if they are considering the 1000s model as one of the other options not to say something bad about the camera since at the end of the day, it is still a great camera. I wish you a good time, stay safe and have fun shooting

    can further elaborate why 500 is more reliable than 1000s ?

      @DavidCuhls  Před 21 dnem +1

      The 1000s is only not as reliable when it comes to the shutter mechanism. In terms of the technicality why it is not as reliable, I am also not sure, I am just taking in the information from the service. I am sorry about this. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a good time, stay safe and have fun shooting :-)

    mine had the mirror sticking issue, it was a rubber panel lining the mirror box to the side of the mirror. the rubber panel had curled over on its edge and catching the mirror, i peeled the rubber lining off and the camera works perfectly fine.
