  • Fear is sneaky, and there are sneaky ways fear is hiding in you and causing your chronic pain and symptoms.
Do you think you don't have fear, so your symptoms can't be mind-body or neural circuit symptoms? I used to think that, and unfortunately, denying fear also denied me of recovery.
The key that turned things around for me to finally put an end to chronic pain and chronic gastritis and reflux was to shine a light on the hidden fears I had and to reframe my thinking.
Remember, physical treatment and medications have a really poor performance record when it comes to chronic pain relief. That's because the symptoms are being generated in the brain, not in the body. Retraining your brain is the best bet for true recovery.

Fabulous! I just had a two hour u/s on what’s left of my poor neck. My body said oh no you don’t go near there and sure enough I’m in a top ten flare of pain spasms and all the rest. I kept reassuring myself, saying let go of holding on like your on a flight to the moon.

Hi, I'm sorry you're in a flareup right now. It will definitely pass. Keep remembering how damn tough the body is. Your neck IS strong. The symptoms have tricked you into believing that it's messed up, but it's remarkably strong.
In a flare, do what you can to be as comfortable as you can. Visualize the next hour being better and the next hour after that, even more improved. Try to keep fear at bay. Talk to your brain and reassure it that you're on a new path now and you don't need the old ways. If you have to take time to rest, it's a good opportunity to watch more videos like this.
Finally, shock your brain with some nonsense humor. Think of a silly word to call the pain, etc. that you're feeling right now. Call it something like fluffernutter or stinky feet. The weirder the better. Doing that can help snap your brain out of the pain loop.
Thanks for being here, and think of how much different things are going to be for you a few weeks down the road.

So true. Excellent content. It's OK to have fear you just need to learn to feel it rather than resist it.

Well said! Those are wise words that took me a long time to understand. Hopefully this video helps others take this step sooner than I did.
