Which is better for a desktop application? The SK01 & SK02 or the K5 Pro & Sk01 combination.
Does one of the two options offer any particular advantages?
Hands down SK01 + SK02.
With this combo you get:
- All three socket types
- Superior tone control than K5
- Enough power for almost all headphones on earth
- Perfectly clean background (on SK02)
K5 Pro is NOT a neutral amp (when tone controls are in the 'zero' position)
The only thing you get extra with this is a mic input, so it's only really good as a super-tiny all-in-one solution for people who want to dip their toes into higher-end audio, or just need a good all-in-one solution and is willing to take compromises.
SK01 and SK02 have practically zero compromises.

May i know if connected SK01 & SK02, the speaker cable / headphone cable should be put in which device?
If you have both the SK01 and SK02, they will be connected together at the back using a 3.5mm -> 3.5mm 'aux' connector - from the SK02 AUX-out to the SK01 Line-In.
Then on the front you can pick any of the headphone ports.
SK01 has 3.5mm and 6.35mm.
SK02 has 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced.
If you want to also connect loudspeakers via a 3.5mm cable, you can plug it into the SK01 Line-Out.
That will create a perfect daisy-chain: SK02 -> SK01 -> Loudpeakers.
So i need both the sk01 and 02 to use my headphones for gaming on my pc?
Absolutely not.
For gaming on your PC, the on-board motherboard audio is enough ;)
If you want higher quality audio, the SK02 is all you need.
It is both a DAC (digital to analogue converter = essentially an external soundcard) AND a headphone amp.
It's a 2-in-1, or all-in-one solution.
The SK01 is a Pre-amp and headphone amp - it does not contain a DAC.
There are only two reasons to get the SK01.
1 - you need a more powerful amplifier than the SK02 - for example you own some difficult to drive planar headphones or vintage headphones
2 - you need some good tone controls - for example your headphone sometimes doesn't have enough bass or too much treble etc etc.
