    Hi. In today's episode I'll show you how to make a professional DC-DC Boost Converter (Step-up Converter) built around the TL494 PWM IC. You can step up voltage from about 20V up to 170V easily. The power rating is about 100W, making it suitable for powering many prototypes, Switch Mode Power Supplies among other Circuits.     i have step up boost, similiat to this schematic. the input is 12v, and the output stucks at 86v, even though i've replace the inductor with 1.55 mili henry. what should i do, to get ouput voltage 96 - 120v?
    update: i've replace R8 with trimpot... lowering the value for voltage feedback, is increasing the voltage out...

    ItS a great circuit..you are really doing a good job..will the current increase because the voltage has increased..what effect will that have on the battery..

      None. As long as the battery is above it's rated minimum discharge voltage, it should operate well.

    about 100W from 1 capacitor on output ... at 20 V it is 5 amps ripples .... full profesional

    Using R6 to open nMOS gate is awful. You better use internal TL494 transistor to open the gate and DB140 instead of Q1 to close the nMOS.
    Separate Vcc of TL494 from L1 noise by diode /*or at least a resistor*/ and low ESR capacitor.

    Los pines 9 y 10 deben conectarse a la base del transistor, no los pines 8 y 11, así funcionará el circuito

      It's 8 and 11, not 9,10.
      You can check the pinout of this ic on google friend.

    I got this working but when I put about 600 miliamp load it drops do you know what problem is

    Did you notice you never put the a error amplifier Ic the voltage with drop to nothing so the circuit is half of the converter the load will drop off the voltage I believe me I try it and the voltage drop off i had to use lm359 to get volt stabilized any load

    Unfortunately you didn't take advantage of the TL494's that have a capabilities for over current or overload protection at pin 16 and pin 15

    Hey I don't have TL494 but I have UC3842 can there is any solution for this can I build both boost and buck converter with UC3842 if so how can I? Can you give a good converter circuit with UC3842 ?

    A failed circuit and did not work, not to mention the many errors in it. Explain the circuit’s work in one valley and its work in another valley. If it was correct, I would have collected the circuit and tried it in front of us.
