Man, I could watch Bird Stories forever. Dunno why. I watched him play. Never knew he was a trash talker at the time. Seemed quiet on the court, from the distance of TV land anyway. Courtside seats during that era woulda been somethin'.
Always remember the time he came out after hurting his back. Didn't think he would be back, but the impact he had on the game when he came back. Never seen anything like it my life. One man, comes back after an injury and the entire game changes. But, you knew it would. You could feel the letdown in the opponents. "Damn, we're up now, but Larry's back." You knew what would happen...and it did. It was really like a movie when Superman finally shows up and saves the day. lol

I can’t remember the game, man I wish I could remember the game. It’s was late in Birds career. His back was all torn up. He was out of the game constantly but he suited up for this particular game at Boston Garden. He probably wanted to give the hometown a show. He hurt his back in the first half scored maybe a couple points and went out because of the bad back. He was hobbling around. He came to start the second half and the crowd went insane! Larry scored 35 points in the second half. He was absolutely on fire hitting everything. Hobbling around with his bad back. Barely able to run and still kept hitting shots. I had tears in my eyes. I’d never seen anything like that before. He was unreal.

But knowing Isaiah he he was laughing because he knew that Larry was one of the best ball player's ever. Bird got upset when you heard it but I think looking back he realizes what Isaiah was actually intimating. I got more respect for Isaiah now that I heard the actual recording. I know he knew better. Those were the best days of basketball I believe. They did more than just dunk the ball which any person with heights can complete.

I agree with Magic Johnson, who said at Larry’s farewell celebration in a packed Boston Garden: “There will never, ever be another Larry Bird.” They just don’t make ‘‘em like that anymore.

They used to say this a lot about Jordan, you can't stop him, you just try to contain him. Jordan was a natural, as for Bird ,he was said to be to slow, can't jump, overrated, to hear that motivated the guy. What he lacked in anything, he more than made up with determination. Only a fool would bet against him, he played on a dream team, and to his opponents, he was a nightmare.

    Nick,
Your video on Bird proves to me *ONE THING* ,,, "Larry Bird Belongs On Mount Rushmore, PERIOD!"
Both he and Magic belong there for all eternity▪️▪️▪️▪️👊
And I'm a brutha saying this who watched him play throughout the late 70's, through the 80's.....
I have tons of footage on him. His 25th Anniversary Video, entitled Larry Bird basketball legend. I have his wars against Magic and the Lakers on VHS. Some of his wins and defeats against Dr. J and the Sixers in the 80's. Games against the Pistons!
I have recorded games when Indiana State beat Depaul, and his NCAA Finals game against Magic, Greg Kelser and Michigan St....
The Boston Celtics use to have 3 pre-season games against NBA opponents at the Hartford Civic Center in Conn where I once lived.. I made sure and had tickets EVERY YEAR for those contests!
I have every "92 Dream Team" game plus the "Tournament Of The America's, the tune up games before the Olympics also on DVD!
So I have proof that Larry Bird *BELONGS* on Mount Rushmore, without a doubt. He should be there for all eternity❗Shaq says you have to have G-14 Certification Status for Mount Rushmore Approval.
Both Bird and Magic should have *Full Exemption Status* ❗The certification is not applicable to them▪️▪️▪️▪️
One of the Greatest Players to ever lace'um up....

Thanks for the time and extra effort you put into your videos. I have been a fan of Larry legend for........oh crap! I'm ancient. Anyway, I appreciate the videos you're uploading, they're not just a cookie cutter product that is the same as every other video out there.
So I have a request. Would you consider doing a video on pistol Pete Marovich? Such an amazing player who was ahead of his time. Let's help keep him from getting lost in the shuffle of time.

Your vids on Larry Bird are my favorites. Grew up being a Larry Bird and Robert Parrish fan. My favorite play was a sleight of hand dish from Larry to Robert ending with a monster one handed dunk. My nickname was BIIIIRD! when I played bball...largely because Im white; I dont think my game has even the smallest molecule of Larry's ability...besides breathing....maybe. 😄

Dennis was wrong...Isiah was wrong....Larry was not just another player. When both Magic and Kareem name you as their best ever....you are not just another player. Listen to what Dr J says about him too....this guy was next level....

  • @twinwankel

I remember the controversy with Isiah's comments in support of Rodman's. In truth, he could have said something totally different and still be supportive. Isiah knew the truth and I'm sure his best friend Magic had some words with him about it. But the damage to Isiah and his legacy had been done. We will never see Isiah as the sweet baby face guard that children use to adore. What's left is his quote which will remain him and his record for eternity. Bird was very forgiving and made a statement that he was not offended and ppl should move on. In more recent interviews, Isiah has gained a better perspective and maturity, rightfully admitting his mistake which he didn't before and truly admiring how great Bird was. Bird, a victim of racism, has always said he didn't see skin color and he always treated all races equally. And he has shown this with his close friends in the NBA. It's clear the whole NBA lost something with Isiah's statement. And it's a loss I don't they ever recovered from.

It was at peak bad boys Pistons. I still love him, they brought entertainment to the game and I appreciate that the leader of the team backed up Rodman. His legacy wasn't ruined by it. Everyone knows the Birdman is a certified legend and what better 'bad boy' thing to say than saying Bird 'is just another white guy'. He should have never apologised and double down.

As a white person myself I don't disagree myself. The media is terrible and will twist what you say in the worst way, it best to try to choose your words carefully when you in that eye. I don't think that they meant any disrespect to the man. I believe they are right if bird wasn't white his legacy would be looked at much differently today which wouldn't be fair to him whatsoever and his back problems would be the biggest part of the topic whenever he would be brought up and not what he did and left out on the court.

I do not watch sports. I have been to a few baseball games in a few basketball, like I won the tickets. If I had to choose basketball is my favorite because it's fast. But again I don't watch sports but I find these Larry Bird videos extremely interesting. I'm not saying he's the best. But I do believe he's the best all-around. And for some reason I really like this videos and I can't get enough. I'm 55 years old and now I know who Larry Bird is. My favorite quote from any of this is from magic Johnson. He said Larry Bird said there will always be another Larry Bird magic Johnson said you're a liar there will never be another Larry Bird❤
