Nice spending some time in the glassing room,I miss it.Excellent craftsmanship and procedure.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Love watching a board getting glassed. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this video. Mahalo from the West Coast.
It's very satisfying to watch a master do this! Excellent explanation and demonstration. Best I've seen on youtube.
gulfsurfco couldn’t agree more, and thank you so much!
all Fibreglass Florida videos are first class outstanding
Thank you so much! More on the way
Nice SF crest on the stairs. Great vid, super helpful!
Thanks for sharing ... helpful practical clip.
Have you ever seen a Good Dry waller float a lid like an upside down blanket of snow in one swoop? It's easy just like this guy glassing!! Next level!!! nice job dude!🤣
I've been in waterman's guild glassing shop. They do beautiful work. Santa Ana California
Cool video, coincidentally I was looking exactly for a video on how to glass the deck (after watching the bottom glass video from Matt Holladay - which is super nice) and 2 minutes later you posted this video! For the next video could be on the hot coat process, a natural progression. One on sanding the board would be nice as well.
Ram Martins we will see what we can do!
excellent
Brian Trend thank you!
Just found your channel today, really cool. Watching from right down in Palm Bay. It would be nice to see how to install Futures fin boxes. I watched the video of how to use the kit, but it didn't show how to select the location, set the fin angle, or how to attach the box to the board. If you guys could put a playlist together of building a board from start to finish, that would be awesome. Most of the videos I have come across don't give enough instruction or leave out critical steps. I would love to try to build my own board, but I would be starting from zero so I would need to know pretty much every detail at each step. I would definitely get my stuff from you guys though.
Also, a video on the difference between epoxy resin and poly resin. Pros and cons of each.
Daniel Ruip awesome your probably not too far from our Rockledge location. We are trying to get more and more detailed videos. Most of these guys have been doing it for 10+ years and don’t like sharing all of their secrets. I will definitely add these videos to the list!
Thanks guys, awesome informative video!!!!
Bda4130 you’re welcome!
Old school master just raw dogging with no respirator mask.
This guy is so good he bould glass board in a three piece suit and not get a drop on it.
classic 😆
I see the relief cut in nose -- no need for relief cuts in tail? That is a challenge, avoiding creases or folds in curves.
Strong Video! I wonder how You cut off the Leash plug?
Great content as always FIberglass Florida! was the deck been Foam stained or spray painted? cheers!
Thanks for the video, what kind of paint do you use on the blank before lamination? Cheers from Portugal.
damn what a pro
Thanks for great advice. Have been looking for a good video on freelap lamination but haven´t found one til this one came out. One question: How much more resin would you mix up if you put down all the glass at the same time rather then glassing one layer at the time? Thanks in advance.
Gaute
Gaute Ryan one deck at a time nothing less than 500ml with more than one patch atleast 600ml
mask dude, remember safety never takes a holiday.
Ok, Karen.
Mask doesn't protect you from VOC in resin. Just dust
@@ojad10 with the correct filters they do.
Clear coat the Orange (as well as the reds ) to avoid bleeding.
How do you get the sandpaper not to clog up with resin lumps when you sand the free lap edge? Assuming you didn't put styrene in your laminating resin for the bottom.
also how do you know how much hardner to put in the resin?
About how many CCs of catalyst do you use per oz. of polyester resin?
What is the schedule on that board? Do you happen to remember?
I am working around a 6.8 egg shape and am uncertain as to the schedule.
WHAT KINWhat kind of color do you use to paint the blank before glassing? THX.
Красиво работает.
Do you put wax in the resin, for the laminating, or do you wait and do it just on the gloss coat?
You would wait until doing the hot coats.
Hi guys, I am planning to shape my own surfboard. How much resin do you need for a board like this? Are 2 Liters enough for a 6'0"?
Tobi Ricardo great question, it definitely can vary depending on how much spills off the board and things like that. Being new too it I would make more than you need because you wouldn’t want to run out. We have another video that shows glossing the bottom of the board and Matt goes into alittle bit better detail on this.
@@FiberglassFlorida ok thank's a lot!
what grit are you using to grind the lap? Can you do it with an angle grinder or sander if you don't have a die grinder?
He is using a 50 grit roloc disc. You can use a sander as well.
@@FiberglassFlorida do you put a layer of sanding resin in the lap so it sands easier or do you just grind the lamination straight up?
What was the reason for the first 3 quarter patch of glass?
Its a deck patch to add strength to the area of the board that takes a beating. Adding an extra layer where you stand mitigates some pressure dents makes the board last.
Hey , someone have the soundtrack?
Where did you get those scissors?
fiberglassflorida.com/right-handed-12-wiss-scissors.html
What's the amount of resin u guy's use per feet on a board (per layer of cloth)?
tony beatbutcher never work per feet just refer to per deck a 5 litre can surfboard good resin will make up to two 6' average boards and fins. 550ml or 650ml lanination per deckdepending how many patches per deck . 250ml hot coat per deck
which weight glass did Rob use? i'm guessing its not 3x 6oz..
It’s was 6oz
@@FiberglassFlorida ok! superstrong board :) and hard to saturate 3 layers of 6oz at once, well done Rob!
@@daliks so after further review the inlay was actually 4oz! lol
@@FiberglassFlorida that would have been my guess👍🏻 what type of poly resin did he use? Very clear!
daliks Silmar 249a, we tried at add most products with links in the video description!
Desperdicia mucha resina
.... a genius. Especially working the resin (wathever...) without a mask. Maybe he's a republican.
you wasted some resin.
