i learned to drift in a crown vic. drifting in low hp cars or heavy cars gives a very good understanding of how cars handle and makes drifting a high hp car very easy
Low hp? doesnt the crown vic have around 200hp?
@@TheGoldenSapling yea, thats low lol. and it weighs like 4500lb. i find 300-400hp in something around 3500lb is perfect for sliding. u can use all the power and not have to worry too much about picking up alot of speed

@@CLS55-Fonz Maybe it depends on where you live. 100-130hp is normal in Europe. In Sweden we drift cars with 100hp easily, also mainly because automatics were not common 20 years ago here and did not weight much at all.
My corolla 1.6 with 116hp 5-speed manual does 0-60 the same as a 240hp Crown Vic
@@TheGoldenSapling thats a good point, yea im in canada where bigger vehicles are alot more common so i guess it just seems slow to me. i know what u mean tho, if my 160hp EK civic had 200 or more it would fkin fly cause its so light

Greetings from Sweden! I had an Volvo 740 b230A (carburetor) stock with just a welded diff and shitty tires. That car was amazing to drift especially when it was wet outside. It sure is fascinating this old volvos how good they drift stock. Anyways great video keep it up!

@@francoescobar4503 its definitely not lol falls apart at 300whp 😂 the 3rd gear cant even take stock power well. For example CD009 is good, gs6-37dz and -53dz are good transmissions.

Hey man, i love your videos and have been watching for a long time. Im a mechanic in north van and alot of the times with leaks like that its coming from the camshaft seal or the corners where the valve cover humps over the camshaft. A good way to fix it is to put a dot of rtv on those hard corners in the seal!

Without watching the video, I would go by the video title and answer it with, yes you can drift with an automatic transmission but it would hurt it more than using a manual transmission.
Humble example of automatic transmission drifts:

Love your content man!! I think you should build a proper driftvolvo epa. with welded rear window and welded lid for the flatbed. Not fully painted if u don’t want to but build with the rear window so you can open because that is sick I think.

Well, my friend who frequently trades cars and sells and buys, he had a Volvo 945 sitting for years before he got his license, and this winter, he took it out since for a while it was his only rwd car, and well, it's winter in sweden. Many of our other friends said he can't drift that shit, it's an automatic B230f. But he and I took it for a test rip when the first snow came, and it was lit. Later when he got it registered, we drove around for hours 2 days in a row and had hella fun, it works a charm. Then when the snow melted, we tried drifting on asphalt, it did not really want to

I saw someone at an event drifting a 910 automatic Bluebird, motor was stock aside from some twin su's and exhaust, I couldn't imagine that would even be putting out 100hp.

A stock B230F makes 116hp. Instead of going with 116+ hp u should try a D24 "Sugis" with 82hp

Rewatch the drift bible, youre leaving a lot of drtift options on the table depending on powerover. You can drift fwd for f=ukz sake.

Get smaller wheels for more torque, with smaller tyre profile and offroad tyres for less rear grip, opposite for the front tyres.

I think its not to much work to swap the gearbox out for a manual, I've heard that people do it to 960's alot up here in Sweden.

Kids here in sweden start to drift there volvoa at already the ages of 15 and some start even younger. We don´t have the money for a 400 hp car. So all the cars are like 100-200 max.
Oh my God I finally found it I've been trying to figure out what the song was at the beginning of your intros and just my luck I bought a clapped-out 740 parts car and it had an old Philip Bailey cassette stuck it in the cassette player and it was like the third song on the cassette tape I still don't know the name of the song though but I know who the artist is.
