Doug Polk's lay down is a testament on why he's so successful in poker. Sick sick lay down
For someone who beats GTO to his viewers with a cane, that sure was an exploitative lay down.
Doug's logic was spot on, he knows Phil is only doing that with the nuts or massive equity. I'm still insanely impressed he managed to lay it down though.
Garbage laydown
Only because it was again Hellmuth... Helmuth is almost always nitty in cash games
@@estegerset yo this is actually such a misconception lol . That’s just what he wants everyone to think . Times change, so do people
New respect for Doug Polk after watching him fold to Phil Helmuth. Incredible.
THAT was Super Cold
Phil basically told him his hand. Phil does some strange things.
Absolute donkey line by Phil though. He stuff 90k into what.. like 15? This is literally the only way he doesn't get paid more besides open folding. And to make matters worse he opens his mouth and basically convinces Doug to fold.
@@naantjez totally agree. Bet was pretty extreme. Talking was incredible from a supposed pro.
It’s a great lay down true but not a hard decision Like everyone says a lot to lose for so little invested. From a risk reward aspect it was an easy lay down. But true most would have called
Polk's logic was sound. He had little to lose by folding and a lot to lose if he was drawing dead. Excellent!
It's true, but I still find the whole hand kind of strange. Why would Hellmuth go all in there with the nuts? Wouldn't it make more sense to go for a value raise to try to extract money from pairs and sets? Or is he afraid of hands with flush draw? Or did Hellmuth go all in hoping to get called by a set/two pair/whatever and win it all? Wouldn't it then make more sense to try to build the pot gradually?
Also, how can Polk put Hellmuth on QT when he raised preflop? I am just an amateur and I honestly would like to understand the line of thinking from both players.
In the back of Polk’s mind, he was thinking about “chip management “ !!! Chip management is also very important? But you never hear anything about it. Very old savvy players know about chip management!!!!
Polk with the lay down of the year. Almost all of us would’ve gone broke there.
Amazing lay down there. Wow
Almost?
@@ilya4759 Yes almost, because he didn't. Meaning, almost. Almost means not everyone ;)
Amateurs
99.9% of players snap call all in here - especially this being a cash game. And he can rebuy.
The guy saying sixes, I knew he had sixes..... jesus man. Have some class.
17:28 “And for some unknown reason that I won’t even try to explain or think about, Ji’s gone all in” 😂
🤣 this part make me cry. Gabe is priceless
At 14:00 Phil blows it when he starts saying what he "could" have. A set or A10 spades seems likely until he says them out loud.
Phil = Fish!
He was begging for a call lol.
This was hilariously stupid. He basically tells him he has the nuts at that point. I wouldn't have made a call then, but unfortunately this situation would have never happend if I were in Doug's position since I would have snap called immediately after Phil went all-in.
No one talking about how completely absurd Lynne Ji 5 bet shoving Q-10 suited into 4 other players is? That is some zynga poker play right there.
She's backed by sugar daddies man
Worst play ever
It’s easy when it’s not earned money
Flush draw on the horizon. So what
Facts 😂😂😂😂
It’s so poetic Phil with the Q10. The rant at the main event, losing to Dani stern, then gets the minimum for megaphoning that he has the nuts. A perfect storyline
Favorite part of the JRB hand is that had Dwan folded, he loses it running it once, chops it running it twice, and chops it running it 3x which is quite brutal.
I know that JRB often complains about how badly he runs, but I can't recall a televised moment where the poor guy doesn't seem to just be utterly cursed by the poker gods. Your observation seems to be another excellent example of that 😅
He must win off camera on the regular or no one would stake him anymore.
@@JDLupus For a start he's always the fish at the tables he plays. He may be a decent player with average joes but he's got no chance against the crushers
@@nardinit I was more observing just how the deck always seems to be against him in featured hands, rather than assessing his actual skill level.
I'm also aware that it's just observation and confirmation biases that make it seems like he's cursed; I don't actually believe it to be the case.
I completely agree with Norman Chad, the painstakingly slow pace of poker makes it more than unwatchable. I am by no means a pro and I realize that there are a few of these decisions that warrant a little extra time, but the sand bagging before a pre flop fold is ridiculous.
Agreed. If you have numerous people behind you, just muck and move on.
Duck oath tanking for that long every street especially in a tournament I would have called clock on both of them
I totally agree. The average viewer will not be so tolerant. What they should do is cut out all of the thinking and just show the action.
Lynn Ji with the worst all in I’ve ever seen in my life. A raise, a massive re-raise and she ships it with Q 10. How is she at that table?
Shocking weren't it. Total punt.
Probably the best televised fold of all time. Props to DP
Polk's fold and Bonomo's Call are like two opposite ends of the World.
Honorable mention to the guy folding for Jungle's last blind and letting him come back to win the PPC.
Agreed!
That hand/fold is so in a class of its own it doesnt even make the list!
A great one
I don't know about this one, wow...
That one should be on here. Also multiple Bonomo vs. Addamo hands. And Addamo (QQ) vs Bill Klein (AJ) for the chip lead at the SHRB. Bad list.
Doug Polk lay down is for sure one the best you will ever see
The most interesting of these to me is Polk v Hellmuth, because I genuinely cannot think of two other people who would be in a hand like this and it go this way.
Hellmuth may be the only player in the world at this level that a poker player may fold Polk's hand to. Anyone else has the potential to be straight out bluffing or semi-bluffing. Hellmuth is the one person who is virtually never bluffing like this at this level.
And Polk is maybe one of three or four players in the world who have the ability to (A) understand and make that read so perfectly, and (B) actually have the guts to fold it.
Great stuff.
Great lay down from Doug Polk ! But those guys should all STFU ! That's no class at all !
It's a cash game between friends and everyone judges them like a rail at the main event.
@@obscurereference6298 Even my local casino $300 buyin tables its a big no-no, floor can get involved when there is talking about a hand in progress. Its pretty common courtesy to wait until after a hand to discuss it.
@@Mildgreenwow your local casino doesn't have a hundred million worth of TV talent at the tables. These players are accustomed to a different set of rules at most/all the tables they play at as either they're with friends being comped or they're celebrities being asked for pictures and questions ad nauseum. It's more insane that you think your spot is similar in any way.
I love Gabe and his partner. . This is my favorite show by far.
Partner is AJ Benza
Dwan is always on the most sick hands
Because he's a luck box
I always call him Pinocchio.
@@drizzle952it's the dwan world
Nice read from Polk. Phil really wasn’t doing himself any favors with his “I could have a set” talk
I think another hand is Dwan calling with a pair of dueces against Hellmuth in the Duel they had. I thought that was one of the most impressive calls I've seen this year. All of these hands are great though. I watched every single one of them many times!
Terrible play by Phil there. He could have gotten all of Dougs chips there with minor raises. I know, I have more WSOP bracelets than Phil and am a better player.
Folding a dummy end of the straight.. what a sick laydown from Doug
Massive respect for the lay down against bellmuth, huge poker iq there
Quads over quads, finally another recorded live gave where this happened again!
Lynn with the greatest punt in the history of HSP Q 10 🤣🤣🤣🤣
right lol.
Great Fold by Doug Polk. That’s world class
That Lococo snap call all-in was an EPIC punt!!
honestly he had blockers to QT and beats all bluffs (both flushes missed), if you aren't calling there occasionally then you're losing money
@@paulhiggins140 if u have to call occassionally it means its almost 0ev. If this is true, given theres so many other shortstacks its better to pass this super high variance spot at the FT imo and look for better spots.
Edit: For clarification, I am not a NLHE expert by any means and I am not debating wether TT is sometimes a call or not.
@@paulhiggins140 blockers to Q10? Huh? Q10 is nothing on that board by the river. He loses to many more hands than he can beat. If he folds he still has an above average stack. Assuming there wasn’t some funky editing, the fact that he SNAP-called for his tournament life with essentially one pair - without going in the tank - for even a minute - was a massive punt and shows he’s not a pro and is a true amateur.
@@mirade4769 ICM adds an entirely different consideration, yeah
@@Sam-db4mr the QT combos are (without blockers) about half of the hands that would bet for value . . . there are waaaaaaaay more bluff combos (Ax or Kx of hearts or clubs, 9x of hearts, 8x of clubs etc.) than value combos
That's cool Doug made it in here. He's extremely underrated.
These guys rambling during Doug Polk’s decision is totally unprofessional.. come on man 🤦🏻♂️
yet he kept his focus. this is a statement that it can be done.
It's a cash game between friends and everyone judges them like a rail at the main event.
The Polk fold is epic 😎😎
Well done Doug, I couldn't have done that. 👏
That lay down, though.... wow!
There's one single move wich can avoid Doug to be stacked in that spot. Hellmuth did It.
I have despised Doug Polk up until that moment. Now I have some mad respect
I don’t think I’ve ever seen JRB win a hand.
What a stubborn call that was by Dwan with QQ!! What a crazy player, he has baaaaalllsssss
World class Polk
Respect Doug Polk!
Sick hands!
Profesor snap commentary on the first clip had me all in
What is Foxen? A welder now, Congrats to Bill Klein love to watch him win!
Lynne is a small child. They obviously show her respect and she enjoys that. She provides cash and a decent vibe. I've never once seen her give any sign of poker skill in any context. Just some huge inheritance. May she continue to contribute to the poker ecosystem with such generous, childlike grace.
She's there for the cleavage. Like a cheerleader at a football game.
The fact that polk made that lay down without having to look down at his crotch makes it even more incredible
Doug Polk what a fold WOW!!
Polks choice to fold is without doubt many hands of play Directly V Phil, and knowing his style. Phil after all is the short stack Knit that will fold AJ with 7 bb
Papo jugando contra los mejores del mundo , de los colectivos del conurbano para el mundo ♥
Polks laydown WOW
11:36 Phil looks super strong here the way he counts his chips imo
It looks like he's just felted someone in a tournament and he's counting out how much the losing player has to match. He did blunder this hand between the overbet, the demeanor, and the talk.
Michael Addamo vs Bill Klein in the SHRB chip leader pot should be on here. One of the craziest call downs I've ever seen.
does anyone have info on salomons hat during the dwan/li clip
Polk top 1 best hero fold ever i've seen
Foxen with a faceshield what a girl. Great job Bill Klein!!!!!!!!!
22:20 - Emotional Damage 'Chinese accent'
Wow
That will forever hunt Loccoco.
Polk sheer class
Big respext for doug mannnnnnnn just wowowowoowowoowowowow
Polk is brilliant.
This first hand was reduclious, I couldn’t stand taking so long in between decisions would drive me freaking nuts . That’s partly why I play cash. The tournament style is so many different people you have to put up with. Holy sheesh
I am nowhere as experienced as Bonomo, but my thoughts about his analysis is like this:
Look at Kleins sizing on turn. It is is much less than half pot. If he had a flush he would have sized up a little bit, given at least one of his two opponents would very likely have a Ten. But if Klein had the As in his hand, which is likely as the PFR, he could also bluff such a value at the turn on such a wet board and if his opponents dont have at least a ten he would pick up the pot straight away. Now when the River pairs the board, Klein bets all in. This is a suspicious bet because if he had a flush he would likely not be thrilled about the paired board to go all in. So Klein could just have the naked As and is bluffing, as full houses are not in his range since no hand that has a set or two pair would bet that turn. So either (a) Klein is doing what is called a blocker bluff by holding the As expecting his opponents to fold Tens when the board is paired and he is holding the nut flush blocker, or (b) he has a straight flush like he has, the odds of which are much smaller, or (c) He has a hand like As Tx where he bet small on turn not knowing if someone has a flush (but he has a redraw) and he is pushing all in on the river ( an attempt at re-emulating the infamous Galfond bluff he did a while back on HSP) when the river paired to represent a FH to fold out chops, straights, even some small flushes.
yep, not that weird to call there, straights and flushes wouldnt crazy bet there like that I guess
I just think it’s an awful call and I truly don’t understand why he makes it.
If you’re going to call with a ten… at least make it a T9, JT… T with a spade sort of hand that blocks some value hands. T6 of clubs is probably the literal worst T he could call with.
My guess is Bonomo will be broke and destitute in less than 5 years time. I make a living backing up bets like this one.
@@parkerbohnn illatke you up on that bet for any amount
@@guillaumebelanger6993 I'll consider it.
8:10 why does Ali sound like he's literally watching extraterrestrials exit a downed spacecraft 😂
Loves how there's one of the best poker play of all timed, followed by a monumental punt of 163k $ ... The high and low of this video
2nd nuts and folds, nice fold.
Lococo made a very loco call indeed.
that polk hellmuth hand is one of the biggest owns ive seen
5 hands in 32 minutes?? Jesus Christ. You guys are allowed to edit out stalling.
JI insane move ㅋ
Top 1 spew of 2021 (TT < 99)
I've never experienced quads over quads but, man it must hurt, but also in the main event? Man that's rough.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko still has his mouth wide open, after seeing quads over quads.
@@Ricky.913 that's the only other time I can remember seeing that.
what about in that WSOP when royal flush ran against quad aces
@@Ricky.913 Yeah. I saw that. Robl had 4 9s. The other guy flopped 4 queens
The players on the first hand were so slow they made the top craziest hands of 2022
The guy that “shhhhhs” Bord is the real hero!
Except when he keeps talking and betting.
When there is a massive pot we want to hear what the players in the hand are thinking, not what the people on the table are talking about. Someone stop their mics lol
The way Helmuth made Polk squirm.
2nd spew of 2021 QTs
The first "craziest hands of 2021" really wasn't that crazy at all. The 2nd hand was crazy, the 3rd hand was crazy. 4th hand was huge
How do call an all in with pocket 10’s on that board.
so nice to see "Micro aggression" Bonomo donk off half of his stack
Aldemir reminds me of Mr Roger's with that sweater...
That first hands slow play drove me nuts 😡
Should be called top 5 tanks of 2021. Geezus these guys are taking longer and longer to make a decision it seems...
Big decisions big money although a bit excessive
@@83Henno trust me, I agree. I would take a bit but some of these are extremely excessive
it's almost like if poker is a game of thinking, right?
@@LucasLincolnn Yeah, and that's fine but there is a problem with excessive "thinking". A lot of the pros have even complained about it. Some are using it as a strategy on the tournament level just to keep themselves in longer, not just trying to make a decision on what they should do.
Whatever happened to Adammo? He was on fire for like a solid year then I haven't heard anything about him since. The bookies finally catch up to him?
I can't get enough of her ... well-rounded thought processes.
Running 15 cards with no pair is exactly where the line "know when to run" came from
which currency are they using?
Why the first hand in the video? Did I miss something maybe?
Some player at 10:16 " I said sixes, didn't I say sixes?" Now that he sees the hand's over.... well done dude.
Come for The quads, stay for the Massachusetts geography.
Dwans look at 21:35 just says “yeah you drink you’re wine and I’ll take your money”
I'm completely confused by Bonomo call at the end, I guess he knows Foxen folded a 10 so that opened a small door. But the paired board on the river just makes that call crazy.
I didn't think the first one was that crazy. I was expecting a 10 on the river.
it was very crazy that guy was second in chips close to the main event ft and calling the shove on the river on a pure bluff catcher lol
@Asterix. Or a Jack at least
I cant take tournament hands seriously
whys that
Nick Schulman is a focking LEGEND in the booth.
Lynne’s let’s just get some hearts comment makes me sick
He did tell him 6’s everyone!! He told him 6’s…
He called a raise with a queen ten
...I actually kinda like Polk with sleeves...
Hellmuth is so out of his depth in cash games it's so funny. Props to Polk
* nice *
