      @@OKG2000 Yes, but the ALL-IN doesn't even add up TBH. When you get raised with AA OR KK on a board like that you should slow down thinking SET, not go all-in and if you have a set, you sure don't go all in, so Ivey put him on AK or 88 JJ type hands, and he beats most of those hands, and JJ like AA or KK probably slows down there. Also, there is not a flush draw on that rainbow flop. No jam made sense there TBH.

      @IAmPez Před rokem +2

      Unfortunately they had him on a such a tight leash though, he was so safe and toeing the line, that it ended up making it hard to listen to by the end. It was Norm's voice, but it really wasn't Norm at all. It was more like someone reading a cookie-cutter script in a Norm impression.
      They had a such a goldmine fall into their hands and they completely wasted the opportunity by neutering him like they did. I honestly don't know why they even went to Norm in the first place if they were not going to allow him to be even slightly himself.
      The commentary went downhill rapidly when they split the Gabe/AJ dynamic and, unfortunately, it kills me to say it, but it went even further downhill when they brought in Norm to do it. He honestly could have saved the entire show if they just let him be Norm. Instead, it died immediately after.

    Thats why i love Ivey. I never understood why people so far ahead would run it multiple times. Why give the underdog that many more chances to hit? Is it just to keep it friendly or something? Surely it cant be because of variance.

    • @jackbrady9738
      @jackbrady9738 Před 2 lety

      Bro it's literally the same % whether they're super ahead or super behind, 87% is 87%. By running it twice you are halving the amount of variance i.e halving the amount of hands you have to play to "realise" your expected value

    • @mydogniko
      @mydogniko Před 2 lety

      @@jackbrady9738 i just read an article that says whether you run it once, twice or ten times your odds stay the same. It said running it twice is like playing the one hand today and running into the exact situation tomorrow. So it seems youre correct. My question is how/why? I cant remember the hands and dont want to go back through the video so ill just use this as an example.
      Say Player 1 flops a flush draw and gets it all in. Player 2 calls. They decide to run it twice. Player 1 obviously has the 9 outs to hit his flush and win. He bricks the first board. Would his odds of hitting a flush on the second board not go up bc he has those same 9 outs with 4 less cards in the deck? I dont see how that can be the same as playing the hand today and again tomorrow bc the underdogs odds to hit his flush go up on the second board. Right? Im generally curious on why this isnt the case so if you have the time could you explain it? Because in my mind running it twice always gave the underdog better odds to win bc he has the same outs with less cards in the deck.

      @mydogniko Před 2 lety +4

      @@jackbrady9738 youre point is valid. Thats why when its a flip or 60-40 i can see running it twice. But i always thought people did it for 2 main reasons. 1- to keep it more friendly. Most of these guys are friends and losing large pots suck and 2- so if the person ahead does lose on the first draw, variance says he should win on the second draw and they chop. Its a way to ensure getting sucked out on doesnt screw you over. However, my point is dont you want to get it in as a 4:1 favorite? If you lose you lose but why give the dog a second or 3rd chance to chop, when each time running it betters his chances? Thats how ive always seen it.
      All that being said youve seen the video where hellmuth runs it 4 times against the amateur guy that doesnt play well right? Cant remember his name. Hellmuth lost 3 out of 4 when the guy had like 5 outs total or something crazy. One of my favorite videos bc everyone just eats into Phil lol.

      It shows why J5 suited is such an awful hand. And shows the size of Hellmuth's ego, that he thinks (1) he can play it correctly (2) against Phil Ivey.

  • @MrKarmaface
    @MrKarmaface Před 2 lety +48

    Best move was the Mercier 3bet cause he has a crap ton of equity with a wheel draw and backdoor nut hearts.
    Selbst was a punt, but because they all know Ruffin is a whale, she leveled herself like us mid stakes grinders vs an OMC 😭

      Her trying to convince herself the guy, who was so excited he acted out of turn, was making a move really reminded me of myself like 10 years ago. Dusted off a lot of stacks trying to convince myself shit that there is no way on earth is happening.

    • @omarjaved6087
      @omarjaved6087 Před 2 lety

      With mercier I think the best play is to call ivey's raise bcz you are never going all in with any of the over pairs in case ivey is raising with some stupid hand bcz there are literally no draws on that board other than 45 which mercier blocks.
      The ruffin hand is not a punt I saw him making crazy stupid plays all over the episodes. he is the kind of guy that doesnt fold top pair. So with an overpair as played you have to go broke in that spot.

    What a sick hand on 7.30
    It's so mind blown this guy plays 10 years ago like I do nowadays..
    But in this hand I don't like the size of squeeze by Mercier preflop, I would do at least 26k.
    And on the flop he goes for half pot which doesn't represents any strong hand so I really like the value raise by Iphey putting him on some brodways and negate equity from hitting one of them on turn / river.
    But I also reeeeeealy like the bet 3bet push by Mercier with his backdoor and gutshot... He put iphey on a real test and in fact he feals crushed by an over pair "if u got me, u got me"...
    What a play.
    Prolly if he would done 1/3 and then push iphey can fold.. Maybe..
