- Hey friends, I'm SO excited to be sharing this DIY enclosed garden project with you! I've been wanting to build this for a while now and this year, I finally tackled it. It turned out even better than I imagined AND was even easier to build that I first thought.
I hope you enjoy watching it come together. If you want to build one of your own, I've got you covered!

FOR THE ARBOR: (I used cedar for the arbor material)
(8) 4x4x8 posts
(8) 2x2x8 boards
(10) 2x4x8 boards
FOR THE FENCING: (I used pressure treated lumber for the fencing)
(8) 4x4x8 posts
(20) 2x4x8 boards
(20) 2x2x8 boards
(8) fence post caps (optional)
OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED:
(25) cedar fence pickets (to build garden beds inside fence)
Welded wire fencing material (you’ll need 4 ft wide x 100 ft): homedepot.sjv.io/e4xA1Q
1 ¼″ exterior wood screws
2 ½” exterior wood screws
2 ½” exterior pocket hole screws: amzn.to/3WQiUeZ
2 ⅞″ timber screws: homedepot.sjv.io/x9JJO5
¾″ staples
(2) pair heavy duty gate hinges: amzn.to/3MYOaVJ
(2) gate latches: amzn.to/3oFQlUy
Weed barrier fabric, gravel, pavers, mulch, soil as desired for inside
(4) 80 lb bags concrete to set posts
NOTE: There are varying opinions on using treated wood in and around the garden. I recommend you do your own research as there are a lot of factors to consider--not all soils are the same, not all treated wood is the same, not all applications are the same. We did our own research and built our garden the way we did intentionally and mindful of the pros and cons.
To be honest, what they're spraying on the crops in all of the fields nearby and all the garbage they add in processed foods are far more of a concern to me than treated wood posts...but I digress.

Very nice garden and beautiful property!! I built 9 garden beds at the start of covid and added drip irrigation so I never water -- it was a game changer!
That turned out SOOO beautiful!!! It looks totally professional. If it were mine I would add a bench outside to just sit and admire the garden or perhaps you'll put your Adirondack chairs out there. Bubby looks like such a friendly cat. He always wants to be close by where you're working!
Thank you so much! A bench is a great idea! I’ve already been brainstorming some ideas 😉 Bubby is great company. Sometimes he’s in the way, but I appreciate his enthusiasm to see how he can assist haha.
Your projects are always so creative and inspiring for even us novice DIYers. This is another great build!
I love to hear that. Thank you so much for watching and following along 💕
This is so great! Your directions are so clear you make it seem all so simple. Very inspiring!😊
Thank you so much! I try to keep things as simple as possible so I’m glad you find it helpful!
Yes here too in south Louisiana,no water needed, the ground already has more then enough.
Gorgeous ❤❤❤❤ love the fenced in garden area and the arbor’s are adorable❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh I’m so impressed
This turned out beautifully! When you stain the boards that come in contact with the soil, make sure you use a food safe stain since you’re growing food (versus flowers).
That is the best looking fenced in garden I have seen on you tube! nice work.
I LOOOOVE this so much.❤❤❤ I want to replicate this somehow into my garden, mainly to keep the deer and rabbits away from my plants. Gonna be brave and go for it!
Such an amazing garden! Thank you for showing how to make it work for you and how to work with what you've got.
What a beautiful build! Love it.
a Block of wood and and a clamp will hold your cross posts ,,, Very nice !
Love this, I've probably watched it 10 times as I'm getting ready to re-fence my garden and plan to follow this style. I love how you keep it simple and don't make us feel like it has to be perfect. Definitely makes me feel less intimidated 😁
This garden area looks fantastic, Shara. I'm thinking that you and Danny are going to use and enjoy this area for years. Thanks for sharing this project with us.
I sure hope we get lots of years (and fruit!) out of this project. But even if not, I still enjoyed building it haha 🙌😅 thank you so much for watching! I hope you have an amazing weekend!
This is beautiful! We built a 42x42 enclosed garden a few months back and your garden has inspired me to add ground level flower beds all around the inside! We have several raised beds and a few planters currently. Looking forward to more videos!
How beautiful!!!!
You are the best, you are the inspiration to all of us.Thank you
Well planned and well built, lots of good ideas and cool design.
You're amazing! My garden heart is green with envy! Beautifully done! :)
This is awesome! I have been trying to decide on a look for a space I'm enclosing. I only have to make two sides - coming out from the corner of my house and turning to my deck. It's for an 18' x 24' space I have that's next to my tiny back deck that's off the kitchen, and I want my veggie garden there. My dad taught me well and even though I'm in my 60s now, this is a project I can tackle with a friend easily. Thank you for showing how it's done!
So happy I found this channel!! I've been wanting to learn how to build a fence just like this
I love your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to make them. I’m going to start beekeeping and this is perfect for the area I want to create. Also, I’m rehabbing a house. Your videos have been instrumental in teaching me and giving me confidence. Thank you.
Very Nice. My tip, if you are going to expand it in the future. When I fenced around my driveway, I used similar construction to your fence but used cedar boards instead of wire. To set the 2x4s, I put wooden screw clamps on the post at the desired height and just laid the 2x4 across them. I screwed in the pocket holes from the top and plugged them. I've also used the clamps as a saw guide to cut a flush top. I wasn't lucky enough to be on the flat.
Thanks for the tips! Sounds like you’ve got a nice set up!
Loved this video. You capture everything I needed including building materials. Also love that you cut the wood as you installed it - this is a common place people add waste to their process that you didn’t run into
You are talented. Considering you "eyeballed" this entire project and it looks this impressive--wow!
Wow! Beautiful work!
Absolutely beautiful
I love it. This is exactly what i want in my back yard😊
Gorgeous!! Great job!

Wow your projects are lovely
this is literally goals!!!
Oh. I see. All the finishing works will be done later.. before winter comes. You arbour garden is very beautiful and more than perfect, Shara. Cheers!
Yes, I’ll apply a stain later this summer once the wood dries some. Thank you so much. I appreciate you watching!
Great job, I love what you did!
Bang up job! Very nice!
This makes me wish I had a house with a yard. I'm saving this as an idea for when that day comes! Great job!
Well I have a house with a small yard but the HOA is a pain!
Thank you for posting this. I'm looking to do something very similar to my existing raised beds.
You are amazing! The garden looks great!
This looks great! Definitely serving as inspiration for us.
Wow. Love it. you're so talented.
Thanks for the step by step looks super cool great work
looks great! what you could do when setting those long upper horizontal 2x4's is use a scrap piece of 2x4 and clamp it to the 4x4 at the height you want, then rest the 2x4 on top of the scrap and level and attach the opposite side of the 2x4, then just go back, remove the clamp and the scrap piece and attach that side
That’s a great idea!
Beautiful
You did a beautiful job! Well done. Thank you for sharing your project with us. It is really helping me design my master garden plan! Happy growing!
Liked your extra effort with the 2x2s as trim to frame out those squares.
Nice overall job. 👍
What a neat work! Bravo! 👏🏻👍🏻
Beautiful fence and garden.
Totally " zig-zaggy " is a building term, I use it all the time😂❤
Looks realloy beautiful.
Thank you 💕
So glad I found your channel. These are projects I'm trying in my backyard. Just getting used to Ryobi tools and hoping I can do this alone (smaller scale too). Thanks so much for sharing!! Lovely garden!🏡
I actually like the spaced out pavers. I'll keep that idea in mind for my own garden
wow you did great it look's so NICE what a great job
Love this !
YOU ARE THE BEST I LOVE IT SO MUCH
Your garden is absolutely beautiful! Wow!!! Very nice Shara! This was a great project. Plus, Bubby definitely approved! lol…. Thanks for sharing this one…. Have a nice weekend!
Thank you so much! Bubby showed up in the background of this video so many times 🤣 he kept checking up on me and trying to see how he could get involved. Lucy stayed on the porch in the shade like a smart dog haha. I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well and thanks so much for watching!
This was great to watch and easy to understand thank you
Totally awesome Garden Build! You guys rocked it out. The pavers takes it to another level for sure.👍🏾💯
Thanks so much! I’m just glad I had somewhere to put the pile of paver base I had bought for another project that didn’t work out 😆 I’m really happy it worked out so well!
Looks awesome job well done.
Wow awesome.
Excellent!!
Great job!
Great job! None of us is perfect so thank you for keeping it real. :)
Well worth waiting for looks great
So glad you enjoyed it! I was so excited to share it finally!
Love it!
I can actually help you on the post-holes.
Recently, I've been learning about how to DIY a water well, watching several videos about how to dig your own shallow well. Many of these DIY videos featured a manual augur, with a 5/8" shaft and a wood handle. This attaches easily to 5-foot pipes to extend the handle, so you can dig deeper and deeper wells... 5' 10' 15' etc.
I decided I must have one, so I headed to my local desktop PC to shop at Amzn. I found several apparently good augurs, by reading the Reviews section on each product.
What stood out to me was something I hadn't thought of (but now will never forget): Post-hole diggers.
MANY of the reviewers commented that they used their augur to dig post holes and ALL repeated the same thing: Once you dig post holes with a augur, you will never go back to that old two-shovel model post-hole digger again.
They did mention that rocks and roots could be a problem and you'll have to dig those out with shovel or other tools, but it seems to me that's a minor irritant that anyone would have to deal with.
So now I have two reasons to buy a manual augur. (I want to build a fenced garden, too.)
I'm thinking this is something you may want to look into.
Wow! What a great job! You've inspired me to do this!!!
Happy building! 🙌 I really enjoyed building this one 😎
Amazing!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Love it! I knew there were deer given what you were doing. I hope to build a grape arbor with the grapes covering the top for shade and proper residential grape growing. I hoped to put a garden inside. this is a wonderful idea on how to accomplish it in the center of my yard. The grapes have to be away from house and neighbor tree or they will destroy whatever they come in contact with. This year my garden looks like your beginning lol. We have had to remove the clay soil to get anything to grow and then had to cover it with burlap to block some of the heat and sun. At times I water it to create a steam cooling system. Climate change has been challenging. I hope to build what you have shown this fall so it is ready next spring. thank you so much!
This is so pretty. Definitely saving for when I get to build mine. I think I need to substitute the welded wire fence for hardware cloth or something to keep the birds and rabbits out of my blueberries, but it’ll be heavily inspired by this design. Such nice work. You made an instant fan.
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you! 🙌
Looks great! A clamp is a great set of "extra hands" in a pinch.
Beautiful!! ❤
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! 🙌
Looks nice. I have raised bed’s but I like your design better. Thanks for sharing.😊
Stunning
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video. This is almost exactly what I want for our garden. Now we have a reference !
So glad you enjoyed it! Happy building!
I love your garden!
Great job.
That’s really great work!
Beautiful! Love it! I'm thinking about one arbor in back , one In front, since my garden will have rows of beds on either side. I'll be planning tonight. Wanted to do something with my garden and as always you just happen to be creating the perfect answer to my dreams. Ty so much. This is the perfect idea, especially with many dee and black bears in my area northern lower Mich. I can always count on my favorite builder inspire me. Ty.
You’re so kind. I’m so happy this inspired you! Good luck with planning and building your own-an entrance in the front and back both is such a great idea too! I really appreciate you watching and following along!
Shara, that is awesome! Love what you do!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching! 🙌
looks great. i made garden boxes similar to yours with cedar fence pickets too. mine lasted 12 years before they needed replacing. thats under the wet pacific northwest conditions. this is great timing as i am getting ready to replace arbors that separate my front yard from the back. i’m going to incorporate many of your techniques in my build. 🎉
12 years is pretty good! And the other good thing is that cedar fence pickets are pretty inexpensive to replace 🙌 I’m glad you enjoyed the designs. Happy building! 😊
