Michel Camilo (born April 4, 1954) is a Grammy-award winning pianist and composer from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He specializes in jazz, Latin and classical piano work. Camilo lists some of his main influences as Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Art Tatum.

And such beautiful compositions as well! This is truly a masterpiece and he is truly a treasure for the ages.

Knocked out after hearing Michel and Marc Johnson and Joel Rosenblatt in Stockholm Sweden 1987. Got to meet Michel, Michael Bowie and Ignacio Berroa a couple of years later when they played at Club Nefertiti in Gothenburg. Drove the trio to a nearby festival next day. Hung out and really enjoyed!!!
After watching the video, I till not sure how many people were playing! Bravo!

I knew and I following him since...there is one of his performance in Lyon playing solo the same track, at the end of a classical gig. And you can see the orchestral conductor sitting down and laughing at the level of music and interpretation of this amazing pianist...

With Antony Jackson, and Dave Weckl.
I had no idea who he was before that night.

This had the same effect when I saw Pat Metheny warm up Jean Luc Ponty.
Both of those nights changed my life forever.

This era of Cliff Almond's drumming is quite possibly my favourite era in any history of drumming.. There, I said it!!

And P.S.. The cameraman it should be drawn and quartered for his inability to document Cliff's solo properly.
This is insane drumming and I don't know if I've heard more eargasmic drumming in my life. The cameraman also missed the most impressive parts from Michel's insane octaves.

@@diegohidalgogarrido4864 I'll agree with you that when El Negro joined it was incredible, and over-the-top to watch live in fact. But to be honest I was more a fan of Cliff, because his drumming had to do more with fusion linear, and metrically modulated stylings reminiscent of Colaiuta (at the time) . El Negro's playing was more dense polyrhythmic and independence focused playing. Mind blowing really! But to me Cliffs drumming was more musical, and 'sat' better with the band overall!
