  • During this pandemic, we have been washing our hands like crazy and a common issue that we are seeing is DRYNESS of our HANDS! I am happy you all are washing your hands during the COVID-19 pandemic but we are washing away the natural oils on our skin! This is DRY HANDS 101 with your CZcams dermatologist with up to date recommendations on fairly new products that hit the market recently and are the best for you in the year 2020.
    Healthcare professionals and parents are all suffering from xerosis of the hands and can progress to cracked, fissured hands. This will lead to inflammation and itching called hand dermatitis or hand eczema. This itchy rash can spread like wild fire up your arms and can even get infected with bacteria if left untreated. We need to break the "scratch-itch" cycle quickly with moisturizers and avoiding scratching.
    In this video, we will review my favorite AFFORDABLE moisturizers for your hands which contain humectants like UREA and GLYCERIN. Urea is great for drawing in water and peeling away dry skin (keratolytic) and glycerin is another great humectant. These products can be easily found at your local store or on Amazon.
    I also review dry skin or "xerosis" in general as well as gentle soothing body soaps/cleansers that can help in mitigating dry skin. Avoid frequent showers/baths and avoid harsh soaps as well as HOT water! The products are mentioned in my Amazon storefront at www.amazon.com...

    Hands/feet: Eucerin Roughness Relief
    Eucerin Roughness Relief: two versions that I like- 1) less urea and for large surface area of body (amzn.to/2xrZuFS) or 2) more urea and thus used as "spot treatment" on palms and soles of feet (amzn.to/3fac4dK)

    My aunt gave me that 1st hand cream 17 years ago for graduation and it’s STILL my favorite (“jus a dab heals dry skin”, no oily, no slippery, no smell) . I gave one back to her this year as a present and thanked her for introducing me to that hand cream. I haven’t found anything even 30% CLOSE to that ever since.

      Kristy Imada thanks so much for watching and I hope the tips help you! Such a common issue especially now that we are washing our hands constantly. Good q on hand soap. It will depend on what you can tolerate as not all fragrances and botanical ingredients are gentle on ones skin but I had found dove and Mrs. Meyers to be good. You wanna look for things with vit E and glycerin to help with inflammation and dryness. Lmk what you think! Thanks again and take care 🤙🙏🏼🤙🙏🏼

    I’ve struggles with eczema my whole life (I’m 23) and I’ve never heard of hygiene hypothesis. It makes total sense though! I’ve had success with colloidal oatmeal. Also, what are your thoughts on HydraFacials? Thanks, love your channel!

    • @danielsugaimd
      @danielsugaimd  Před 4 lety +1

      Lauren DeVera thanks for commenting and for watching!! That’s great you like colloidal oatmeal which is very soothing for inflamed skin. I have no experience with hydrafacials as they are typically done in a spa setting. It sounds nice to have an exfoliating 30min session similar to a face mask but in terms of longer term effects like a chemical peel, I can’t say that it lives up to a peel. I have done microdermabrasion before and don’t think it works that well. Take care! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

      Dr. Daniel Sugai, that’s great insight, thanks! There are so many fad treatments available now, and it’s hard to tell which will be worthwhile, especially since the average consumer doesn’t have as much access to the data and clinical trials.
