- Michiru Yamane is the legendary composer of the Castlevania series. Let's celebrate these beautiful songs with this 20 minute playlist :)
Composer's influence:
Yamane feels she grew an interest in dark classical through her Bach studies in college. She has also drawn inspiration from other composers including Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin. In high school, Yamane listened to Kraftwerk, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Yellow Magic Orchestra, with the latter being considered a major influence on many Japanese game composers.
Yamane has expressed enjoying music from other game composers, particularly Nobuo Uematsu, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yoko Kanno, and Motoi Sakuraba. She also explained that Tomb Raider and its sequel influenced the way she thought about sound design.

I find it interesting that the entire list is castlevania (even bloodstained) and then you got skullgirls mixed in the list

She even got her younger sister who is a professional opera singer to get in the whole thing and… oh my god, it’s one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard of in gaming history… the song is Requiem for the Gods by-the-way

Castlevania is nothing without Yamane's music and Kojima's drawings.
The two have already made their image in Castlevania , fixed their image.
Ayame I think has retired but Igarashi did manage to talk both her and Michiru into Bloodstained which is the spiritual successor
You know She's Special, when no matter what composition she makes, is able to make your mind dive into the Worlds she was asked to compose music for.
She's indeed very talented.

Castlevania games had such incredible soundtracks. It was a big part of the athmosphere the games had, and matched the visuals so well. Every time I hear them, I wonder, how can someone come up with compositions like that. I really need to listen more of Michiru Yamanes work.

I can never get over or ever get used to Abandoned castle , ever since I was a kid , first stepping into that castle seeing the giant and hearing that song always sent chills down my spine and still does to this day , curse of darkness is responsible for my love for VGM

Dance of Pales is always an incredible piece of music for me. It could have easily been a composition from any of history's greatest and nobody wouldn't have believed it was them
Historic pieces for most part sound charming, "happy" and spiritful. Even the malencholic music of Debussy is him just being french. Post ww2 classical music is something else, as the destruction of two great wars made Psychological horror more apparent to the general populace. Creepy bone chilling music, be it classical or modern, is staple of Post war music, and even more and more of 21st century. And lastly, a music with vampires and demons in mind wouldn't have worked in past anyways, for obvious reasons

She has an incredible musical ear, the part from Lament of Innocence play in my head occasionally and the Abandoned Castle theme is unforgettable

wow! loved all of the music from the series. it is nice to find out who was behind that great sound. the games were great, however the music really made them cherished memories for me.

faltaron un montón del the curse of the darkness : Mortvia Aqueduct, mortvia fountain, garibaldi temple, Bajeh Mountains, Cordova Town, The Forest of Grijamount. Para mí su mejor música está en ese videojuego

A Konami infelizmente nunca se importou com a franquia, se não fosse os desenvolvedores e compositores que absolutamente amam e colocam a alma no universo do jogo a gente não teria isso, mas felizmente a gente ainda tem Bloodstained.
Yamane se mostrou uma profunda conhecedora do mais fino do barroco, foi com as suas composições que conheci no Castlevania que me fez começar a aprender o piano, sua música é catártica, e com certeza sem ela o jogo perderia muito do seu brilho, é uma pena que pra este tipo de arte é necessário tempo, técnica e paixão, coisas que hoje em dia sejam difíceis de conjugar no mesmo artista, dá pra perceber que suas músicas foram feitas com toda cautela possível, a única trilha que chegou perto de se igualar a obra na minha opinião foi a de the Witcher 3...
