- We bought this 2016 RG Colorado 7 as a daily driver and tow vehicle back in 2017. Slowly but surely the 4x4 bug got its way and the modifications started. In this video I go over the various mods we have bought over the last five years. I talk about the issues it has had and the mods that are planned for the future. Bottom line, really love this car and it is a jack of all trades.

LOVE your videos mate... I'm eagerly awaiting your next installment when we can all get out there again (as I'm sure you are as well) :)
Thanks Dougal, appreciate it man. Yeah super keen to get out. Has been a long time. Think everyone is going to be hitting the road when we are allowed.
Mate what a rig , once you get a front locker I’m scared 😳. Great video and editing mate well done and well done on the build, Ive watched from the start and seen this car develop into what it is today 💪
Cheers Shad, thanks mate. Yeah we've been in touch a long time now hey. Hoping we are all out and about again soon.
@@OutdoorsCBR yeah I definitely need to get out soon
Great to see a run through of the rig. You’ve got the basics covered but there’s always more mods to do!
Yeah there is always something 😄
Love the authentic dialogues! Very entertaining.
Thanks for the comment.
Love it! Easily the second coolest C7 in Australia 😜
haha yeah good call 😂
The bus is lookin sick mate!
Cheers Jay
Nice vid mate keep up the good work
Thanks James
I love your rig!
Thanks for that mate. I always look back after parking it 🤣
Sweet vid. Just come across your channel, the Mrs is looking to upgrade our Pathy for a Collie 7. I was a bit hesitant at first but your vid(s) help assure me we can still do it all with the newer bus.
Any buyers beware tips you can share?
Yea they are good cars. I haven't had any troubles with this one. Could be worth researching the torque converter issue that some people have experienced. And there was a particular year model that used engine oil, worthwhile finding out which one that was.
Great vid. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate.
I searched Lockleigh Enterprises on google but does not return any matches in Canberra. Does your mate have a contact number so I can organise some sliders please.
@@marcusloricchiella8579 Hey Marcus, try lochleigh enterprises hall? It should come up with a phone number. DM on insta or facebook and I can give you a phone number.
@@marcusloricchiella8579 just noticed - its spelt L O C H not with a k.
@@OutdoorsCBR yep that’s the one. Many thanks.
Fortuner/hilux rear shocks are longer and fit perfectly. I have them in my trailblazer same car.
Oh really!? Which brand and type do you have? Thx for the info
@@OutdoorsCBR I have dobinsons mrr myself but they do non mrr also. How much was you brake lines want to do mine as the rhr is definitely abit tight
mr59-50701 is the part number in mine
Thanks for sending that through I'll look into those. Will try find out the open and closed lengths. The braided brake lines were made up to suit, not actually listed on the APC4wd website. From memory they were $190-200. Something like that.
Keep up the great videos mate. Surely next set of tires will be 35’s?
🤣 surely, should fit. Haha. Thanks mate, will do.
Nice rundown! Miss your off road camping vids - hopefully we're out of lockdown soon, so you can do some more trips. 14:06 - LOL. Re: Uneek4x4 - I'm considering one of these... Is it pretty solid off road in terms of protection?
Thanks James. A lot of people around the country itching to get out camping. Yeah they are a strong bar, and are well built. You can see it take a massive hit in the slow-mo shot when driving Ranger Bob in Lithgow. Only thing is the price on the one suited to the Colorado has gone way up since I bought it.
Neat rig 💯🇦🇺
Thanks mate. It has done everything asked of it!
Awesome car mate. I have a Colorado too but the ute version and I'm keen on getting a snorkel but since it's my daily driver I don't want the snorkel to be too loud right next to my ear. So, what sort of sound and/or how loud is your snorkel? Cheers - Having watched this video imma get heaps of these mods with times to create a 4x4 weapon like urs. love it.
Thanks mate. They are great 4wds after adding a few mods. The snorkel on this is loud with the window down, I don't mind it unless I'm trying to listen to a podcast or something. 😆 maybe a safari snorkel wouldn't be as loud?
Hey M8, just curious how your rack mounts are secured to the rails. like the mounts you had made , how do they attach. I like having the rails but don't trust the mount points,
I have an mu-x but generally same same.
Lovin the content m8 , keep up the good work.
Hey mate, it's just six high tensile bolts each side straight through the mounts into the factory thread that are on the rails. M8 bolts from memory. Once it's all tied in together it's pretty strong. Get in touch via Facebook messenger if you want and I can send you some pics
Wicked mate
Thanks mate!
Great info there fella, been looking at them recently for a tow rig.
How does it go pulling the van?
Cheers Coop ✌️
It was great as it is with our 15ft van. No problem. We upgraded to a 17ft van and it struggled with all the mods plus the van. 33s, barwork etc. A stock colorado with heavy duty springs would tow like a beast.
I reckon once we are out of lockdown it might to time for a yalwal mission
For sure! It's worth checking out!
@@OutdoorsCBR been there plenty. Just keen to get back sick of not being in 4low haha
Where did you get the rear locker installed? Cool vid btw, these and the MU-X look like pretty good value
M & A Engineering in Mitchell. Thanks mate. Yeah has been a good reliable car.
@@OutdoorsCBR cheers!
Hi mate do you still have the design for the roof rack bracket?
Hey Connor easiest way to find it is to jump on the Colorado 7 / Trailblazer FB Group and search within the group. It should come up. If not, msg our Insta or FB page and I'll try dig it up.
Beer Time
Yeah probs a 1 or 2 beer video. 🍺
With the pos 20 rims did you need any body mods like front mount chop etc
Yeah, remove front mudflaps and body mount chop. Bullbar aswell.
did u end up sorting that rear shock?
Yeah mate. Ended up with a set of GU patrol Bilstein shocks that were modified to suit the Colorado7. The mounts on the shaft end of the shock needed to be changed to the pin type. Heaps more rear travel. Added extended braided brake lines and bump stop spacers. Sway bar out.
sweet, i just bought the same car about 4 weeks ago and shes stock as a rock but took it to esperence for the week and was super impressed with it to the point im looking to give it a full haul over. snorkel rock sliders, exhorst, lift, 33/35 sterio, lockers.... and well the list goes on if there are any mods u strongly recommend drop us a link. ps man this is a great vid, good editing and great on cam vibe
@MrGeddes85 thanks mate appreciate the feedback. That's a solid list, car is a weapon with a rear locker. Twin locked would be epic. Depends what you are doing with the car but mud tires go along way to improving offroad performance. 33s screw with the auto trans a bit, it doesnt know when to lock up the converter. I switch it over to manual mode all the time when driving now.
Mate I'm considering getting an L7 ( 2010 on) just as a daily driver and tourer up here in the territory. How is it getting basic spares given they are no longer produced etc?
I haven't had any issues yet. A lot of the major stuff I have bought genuine second hand. Have bought a few genuine brand new parts as well. Bought an aftermarket tensioner from Repco. I think there were enough utes made that parts won't be an issue for a long time
@@OutdoorsCBR Thanks Brus appreciate the quick reply. I am a diehard Pajero guy but I like the look of the L7, it is a Holden and they get very good reviews. I like the genuine 7 seat config with flat fold down in an instant. I dont need hardcore offroad just long highway comfort and the off bush bash hunting Buffalo. Might go the Petrol i think !
@@jmginthent651 didn't know there was a petrol model for the Colorado 7. Thought they were all diesels. And pretty sure the first year was 2012
@@OutdoorsCBR I think I need to do some more research LOL. I've only just started looking. I guess it's gonna be a diesel from 2012 onwards then?
Are the rear coils for Trailblazer 2016 same as MUX'S?
That's a good question mate. Couldn't tell you.
@Outdoors CBR I learnd that the hard way 😅
The dude who done the sliders do them retail can't find company on Google or ebay
Yeah he will. Not sure about freight though. Search Lochleigh Enterprises on google.
How many kms are on the collie?
Just ticked over 108,000kms.
