    I like the way you drive your Volvo, very safe & always having both hands on the wheel. I wish I could learn from you if I ever decide to be a truck driver. Thank you for your driving stories.

    The "powerbutton" on I shift shifter does not affect the power of the engine, it is how the clutch operates when you for example reverse into a dock or connect a trailer, then the clutch is more direct to give power.
    Nice videos, I drive the ancestor to that truck in Sweden, a Volvo FH460hp with a 12 speed I shift and I-SEE automatic crusie control. Boxtruck and a dolly and trailer grossing 141 095 lbs and its working great.
    So remember, the powerbutton is only how the clutch work, nothing to do with some extra power.

      The "powerbutton" affect the engine and the transmission, not only the clutch. You should read facts before commenting.

    I have driven both
    2020 cacadia and now currently driving 2021 Volvo 760. I gotta say volvo is better choice if I was to buy one. Let's compare little bit. Volvo has excellent big mirrors easy to see when turning or backing up you can see all round. Secondly volvo ride is very smooth compared to the cacadia. You enjoy it while driving it. Cascadia is more stiff. Third the volvo has better fuel consumption than cascadia. For example I will tell you in kms if I drive the cacadia from full to empty can get up to 2500 kms which is pretty good compared to the previous generations. The volvo you can get easy 3500 kms cuz the tanks are bigger. Fourth Volvo is easy to drive and back up...you can turn any angle that you like...cacadia Is a little hard. Five d13 is way better than the dd15 Detroit on the cascadia. So overall volvo is best bet.

    I hope the mpg improve, coz I'm disappointed in your numbers. With that rear end, and 20yrs advancement, I was hoping you would be at 10+mpg.
    I have a 1998 Volvo D12 mated to a 10spd eaton w/ 3.90 rears and I cruise at 59-63mph (14-15.5K rpm's) ---- this is getting me 8.5+mpg in the northeast /Shenandoah's. I gross about 70K lbs on my runs.
    You numbers are not very encouraging given the carrying costs of a new truck.

    I have 2019Freightliner Cascadia and calculate by hand and my MPG on the display is off 0.5-0.8
    showing more
    My lifetime so far is 8.6 MPG
    My average speed is on cruise control 65 MPH
    So I'm not driving for efficiency
    Truck and trailer have full aerodynamic package
    Super single on the truck
    Regular tires on the trailer
    With a load around 30k pounds Midwest run I get 9+MPG
    I have DD16 Detroit 600 HP 2150 torque
    DT12 Automated transmission with predicted speed up before the hill and other things
    And I have much better MPG than what you talking about
    My average load on the box is 40 000 + all the time
    I also had demo 2020 Volvo VNL 860 with Volvo engine 500 HP 1750 torque drow for two weeks and my average was by hand calculation 7.4 MPG

    I can't believe that trucks are allowed to travel unto 70 or+ MPH in the USA in the UK and Europe were restricted to 56 mph

    • @me-it9jn

      brian wheway most company trucks are governed at 65mph

    • @alialibeyoglu7532
      @alialibeyoglu7532 Před 5 lety +4

      Why you can't believe? Those cube shapes cabover trucks has no stability and good aerodynamic without a hood and small surface area. That's why on high speeds they have huge risk about rolling out easily. Simple physics. How wide and big your surface are, you will be more durable and less likely fall. As soon as EU won't increase their roads width, they won't have conventional trucks and the speed limit will be 56 miles max.
      Don't forget EU trucks made for medium length trips and maneuverability against tight roads. NA trucks made for longer roads and speed.

    • @CoherentChimp
      @CoherentChimp Před 3 lety

      Speed kills.
      Mass X velocity = Carnage.
      Simple physics.

    • @peterl3417
      @peterl3417 Před 3 lety

      The main reason for 55 mph speed limit for trucks in EU is Fuel Economy and Safety due to their Cube Cab Over Design and very short wheelbase / High maneuverability design

    Freightliner and Peterbilt slow on the hill huh that's some good information right there I was looking at the Volvo but the price tag which I don't know I am assuming it is very high
    The only other truck than a Volvo vnl 860 that I would buy as in a situation of Shut Up And Take My Money would be a Western Star 5700 XE
    I've driven day cab Volvos with the I shift 12 speed transmission it did not fuck around it grab gears and hauled ass and bobtail forget about it grab a gear Jump Up 3 grab another gear Jump Up 3 and no time you were at cruising speed
    I have driven 2018 Freightliner day cab not to impress but a hell of a lot better than a fucking International lt625 day cab International was worse as far as wide quality and performance compared to the fucking Freightliner but Volvo smack the shit out of both of them
    I used to do a local run with mail and you know how time-sensitive that is that is fucking go go go.
    My biggest concern is EGR cooler stuff like that on a D13 I know the Detroit engines a little too well if you get where I'm going with that but at least the EGR coolers on top of the engine a lot less labor to deal with maybe the D13 has changed where they place things but a dd15 dd13 water pump stupid easy to get to EGR cooler like I said stupid easy to get to I also I don't know if this is fact or not but I heard that Detroit Diesel has a turbo compound option just like Volvo's D13 I don't know about that but if it does oh shit
    Anyhow if y'all got any useful information slam the keys on the keyboard and let me know I'm not really a fan boy I just want performance and minimal downtime
