Great walkthrough Mick we have the bass boat and are now looking for a slide on camper solution so this is very timely. Keep us updated with your camper and trips and hopefully we will bump into you one day.
Thank you so much for the video - it’s great to see a fellow New South Welshman with one not just all the US peeps. Just wondering how tall you are? I’m interested in getting one - only just found this brand through a Faccy post, but I’m really tall, over 6’. So would be interested to know if I’ll fit. Cheers
Thank you. I'm 6 foot on the spot. Once inside there is heaps of head room, when the roof is up of course. The only thing that I have done is not duct my head from time to time getting in & out the door.
@@liquid_existence7484 ah sweet. I’m 6’4” although I think I’ve started to shrink ☹️😁 The joys of getting older. I currently tent it in an OzTent RV but been wanting to upgrade… just not sure if I want to tow. Saw one of these on a Faccy Marketplace ad the other day and it blew my mind. I’d seen other slide on’s but not anything in Australia for tubs, only trays. Your video was very informative and I loved how you just told it like it is. So thank you again
I think 6'4 would be ok. I had an RV5 for close to 15 years and decided to go this was. Towing is fine but I wanted to tow my boat and I don't have to pay rego or blue slips every year. In saying that you would need to spend some money on your 4wd ute re a gvm upgrade and if U can airbags. Prob a cost under 10k these days.
Great vid, we're thinking of ordering one soon but not sure if we should change the rangers tub to a tray. Would be great to see a load and unload video...cheers
In USA, there's a much bigger market for topper campers and its a bloody shame they won't export to Australia. I've contacted quite a few. They're mostly designed for the bigger yank Ute's, like RAM, F150, etc, but the ownership rates are rapidly rising in Australia for the RAM, Chevrolet and Ford F series. The toppers like the AT Overland Atlas, Four Wheel Campers and other brands have a smaller aerodynamic shape to them. 🇦🇺
Thanks Chris. Your right, a yank tank are ideal for these campers. The only problem is they cost alot in Australia. Fortunately Australian cars are coming out with bigger gvms but have a long way to go before they satisfy the bigger slide ons.
Great Video mate. How did the wind drag effect fuel economy on the Ranger? I’m looking at one so like you I can tow the boat and still camp comfortably
Thanks Craig. There is a bit of drag. We just done a 10,000km trip and we were getting between 18-19 litres per 100km. In to the wind your going to loose a litre per 100km. Hope that helps
I like the concept, as I often tow a ATV Buggy, what is the individual weight of the camper full of water and gear? I have a Landcruiser Dualcab with contant 700kg springs fitted and a tray dimensions of 1850 W 1850 L and 1050 high heat bar will it fit?
@@AndyChristensen-v8w it's an Australian model that palomino do for the Australian market for flat trays. They market them as the same in Australia with the option of the American version

Great walkthrough - thanks for sharing!
Good work
Thank you! Cheers!
Cheers Corbs. One of these could def be on the cards for me one day and you have saved me a heap of time here. Legend
Cheers Mate. Yes the wildfisher would look good behind one!

Cheers. Yes there will be a outback adventure this year. I hope you find what you are looking for.
Man, the counter space, 12v fridge and flatbed storage cubbies have me pretty jealous here in the states.
Yes it creates so much room. Single cabs would have even more space.

Cheers. I do prefer the tray option only for the storage. I guess the tub option would have it lower to the ground and would never need chocks.

Cheers Chris. With all the gear I'm at around 800kg. For the camper I'm on a 1800 x 1850 tray. I'm sure the cruiser would be fine.👍
You said the whole thing was electric at the beginning but then you go inside and show us the gas stove I'm dying laughing
Apologies I was talking in regards to the legs and roof. Gas stoves and gas hot water.
What’s so funny??. I knew what he meant straight away when he said it’s all electric.
AA to get a week
Looks pretty good. What size battery setup? I want an aircon. Easy fit?
Battery size is 1 120 amp battery. You can get air con as a optional extra.
How much clearance do you have between top of truck cab and the shell?
At least a bit over a foot.
I am thinking of getting one, I have a 4 door triton ute, do you need to get stronger shocks?
Yes. I would recommend getting the gvm upgrade. It costs a little but worth it.
That's not an ss500
Oh ok. What is it then?
Not sure but it isnt an SS500 which has only a 40" base...this one is much wider..

Its a slide in camper not flatbed camper
No, it is a flatbed camper
