As a youngster back in the 1980's I recorded Jaws 2 off of network television. I rewatch that VHS tape dozens of times over the ensuing years. That version included this scene. It wasn't until many years later when I saw the theatrical cut that I realized that the scene was missing, as well as a few others. I think I would prefer the television cut if they didn't censor out the violence.
Vaughn knows Hendricks isn't up to the task. Never bet against Brody. I wonder if Brody was reinstated after being vindicated, or did he just stay quit?
It's a real shame they didn't include this, but at the same time I understand the reason. At least the clip still exists and gives the mayor some redemption.
Here's hoping that Shout! Factory could do a 2-disc Collector's Edition of *"JAWS 2"* with a HD release of the complete Extended TV Cut - which should include the deleted scene of Tom Andrews finding the underwater camera near the Orca wreck - that was seen in Brazil, but in English-dubbed. I would even love it if they did a 2-disc Collector's Edition of *"JAWS: The Revenge"* - Yes, I have a soft spot for that film, even if it ain't as perfect as the first two *"JAWS"* films - also with a HD release of the AMC Extended TV Cut.
Just watched Jaws 2 for the first time in many years -- it was kinda weird how the mayor just totally dropped out of the film. So much so, I recall making a comment about it after watching.
I think this should of stayed in the film. It added more depth to the mayor's character and the situation around Brody being fired. It would of also made Brody less of a heroic saviour character and more in line with who he is by not having it a case of just him against the world. This is because in the first film while he was on the orca for most of the time he was useless compared to Quint and Cooper.
Man say what you will about the mayor. Yes he did shitty things but just the way he stuck his neck out for Martin the whole time. They really shouldve kept this in the film like what the hell.
I really wish this was in the film. It would have been a redeemable moment for the Mayor after the first film.
Agree
Agree
Agree !!
And it would have gave us more of the wonderful Murray Hamilton as Mayor Vaughan.
This scene was in the TV version years ago.

I imagine he went back and punched Peterson right in the mouth!!
Always wondered about that
It’s also likely that Martin’s wife Ellen probably smacked Peterson harder than Martin would have, since she worked for Peterson.

Brody may have lost his job, but he gained respect from the mayor.
As mentioned in other posts, I wish this had been left in the movie. I loved Murray Hamilton in the movie "1941".
But he's the Mayor so why can't he veto the other council board member 😮😮😮

Candygram
But it was Mayor's fault. He didn't want the beaches closed.

Thx!!!🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
The best scene in the movie isn't even in the movie
