- Yet another patient at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital that House has a low tolerance for... As much as the team want this patient to live, the patient, as well as his own son, would rather 'let him die' to take the chronic pain away.

From Season 5 Episode 12 ''Painless'': At Cameron's (Jennifer Morrison) urging, the team takes the case of a suicidal man who suffers from excruciating chronic pain---pain that mirrors House's (Hugh Laurie). Meanwhile, Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) discovers that caring for her newly adopted baby leaves her little time to run the hospital.

Nice to see security has improve since House got shot.
LoL
funny thing is i saw that moment and thought, wait I'm not watching that episode...
Tbf, that guy probably checked in at the front desk or Cuddy first.
Wait house got shot?
Was house's theory correct?
seeing all this, with chronic pain and painkillers and suicide, you'd think people would be more concerned for house. i would've been terrified for the guy.
I think its demonstrated pretty well, given that characters like Cameron and Cuddy and Wilson demonstrate a really unceasing care for House's well-being from pilot to finish. They at least see past the veil of his arrogance and his hoarse personality and want to help the real House, the drug addict beneath.
They would if they really cared for him, but they take his attitude the wrong way. At least if what I’ve seen
@@jeremiahscott2032 later in the series chase actually has a very good understanding of him
@@jeremiahscott2032 I think it's more that they've known him for so long they've kind of grown tired and/or used to his antics.
Even they don't really seem to get him at times because of this.
The episode where he finds out about Wilson not fighting and his eventually blurting out how often he thought of killing himself and that life is pain is a pretty clear sign they knew him so well it looped back around into not knowing him at all.
Makes sense. You're much more critical with people you have no knowledge of. Which at the end of the day is rather silly because it's those you think you know who will screw you over the hardest and surprise you the most.
(This is why the vast majority of crimes are not perpetrated against you by strangers. Strangers are the people you don't give a chance to do so most of the time. It's trust and familiarity that leads to bad judgement calls and danger.)
@@dillzilla4454and because of that arc I expected a better eulogy from Chase, how House was really a sensitive man who put up a sarcastic and hated front to avoid receiving pity to his misery from others
When Chase hears House answering “Yes” to having more bad days recently and looks over him concerned I was like “Yes man he needs support and love”
I thought he was surprised that house was acting vulnerable and honest
@@justincase7848exactly what I thought too!
@@wantnoodles fun to analyze fictional characters:)
Chase was always the only coworker House had that truly had something of an understanding of House.
"Can you blame me? last time I got shot"
He's got a point. 😄
As much Vicodin House takes you'd think his team wouldn't question him on The Pain Killer theory.
TBF, his theory relies on the injury already being healed, Houses injury is very clearly NOT healed
Vicodin contains too much acetaminophen which is toxic to the liver. A doctor as smart as House would be taking oxycontin.
he did get better after he went to rehab and therapy
The amount of Vicodin he took should have destroyed his liver with the amount of acetaminophen he eats everyday
Exactly.
“Good thing i am not the patient” every doctor
House: "I think he's faking"
Everyone who's not House: *DAFUQ*
Omg Fr fr even Sherlock Holmes would raise some eyebrows
@@sunsetanimator4187 House is Holmes. Sherlock Holmes would have come to the exact same conclusion.
When the mother said, “Please, don’t let it be what his father has,” gave it away, too. Not that House needed to hear that statement to put two and two together anyway.

It’s House!
It turned out that the guy actually had Epilepsy. Something to do with his groin muscles and the way that the brain's wiring was triggering it or something like that. It was too deep in the brain for them to find before they knew to actually look for it. Once they knew what it was, it was entirely treatable.
it was testicular seizures! seizures don't always originate in the brain, they can also be cardiac, abdominal, or in males, testicular in origin. this was also before epilepsy medication was used as treatment for chronic pain with no explainable cause, which is why none of the treatments worked. these days, an epilepsy dx would be easy to miss if the patient was already started on anticonvulsants for pain
Thank you

Did Cameron actually want House to take this case so he could see that there's still hope? If she did then that was just mean coming from her because the patient being finally cured and House being still trapped in his broken body at the end it's heartbreaking.
I do think she meant well, we as the audience see a lot more into House’s pain & thought process than his coworkers do.
CAMERON:
32-year-old male with chronic pain all over.
HOUSE:
This is the favour? I was expecting something involving whipped cream and tongue depressors.
CAMERON:
He’s seen 7 different specialists over 3 years. No diagnosis and no relief.
HOUSE:
Oooh! I am fascinated already. It’s like I’m treating myself. He gets cured and I get to learn a valuable lesson about the milk of human kindness.
CAMERON:
If I thought you learned lessons, I never would’ve quit.
HOUSE:
So, you’re wasting a favour because….
CAMERON:
I think you can help this guy.
that kid did an amazing acting job, i actually felt so sad for the kid
Not great enough for House 🤣
I for one completely disliked his acting. Seemed so ... fake, over the top.
I'm pretty sure he meant the actor, it was supposed to look a little fake but still a kid best attempt, and still show sadness for his father
Jake Cherry. He’s really good!
@@j.h.898 It was too fake and forced.
I always giggle when the house extras just carry on while someone needs help. "Like I'm not paid enough to act stopping a heart attack"
"Someone else will help them..."
Foreman didn't correct him, even though the last guy looking for House had a gun.
lol cuz they never buy it😂😂
He's not taking a bullet for his boss~😅
Foreman looked back at House rather than at Carrick so Carrick concluded that “the big Black guy” wasn’t actually House
This is the one thing that always made me laugh about the show, everyone hates house so much but he usually ends up saving a patient three to four times before curing them🤣
I love waking up some mornings to a new House M.D. upload lol
The child can act.
Thanks for the constant upload of all these clips 🤗
This is such a great show! 😊❤️
House is the definition of a doctor working for a long time, and it makes me wonder how he was on the very first day. 😂

I’m so early, this has never happened before. I’ve been binge watching these clips for the past three hours and I literally can’t stop. Send help.
Nope. Don't fight it. Enjoy.
Take a couple of aspirin and call me in the morning if the pain still persists.

I lost my father at the age of 8 and i can tell you that being that young would be HARD HARD HARD on his poor mama, as well as tough to be missing out on soooooo many opportunities and activities that he would otherwise miss out on.😭
It’s not real
This mercy kill has me mixed. I did with my dog but this kid seem like he did it because he wasnt his dad anymore, a stranger to him. However, I do see what others will say, the dad is suffering so much it didnt change his behavior but his personality. In any case, a child shouldnt make the decision to facilitate and encourage a death with good intentions or not for another human and it alarms me no one tries rectify the kid from this stunt. Then again, this is a tv show and good acting.
The child didn't make that decision, the dad did. The child simply agreed to aid his attempt. In that case of your dog however, you were the one who decided it (since they can't make that decision, or at least can't communicate it). My condolences btw. Didn't mean to criticize you for that, just to point out that it's the dad deciding here, not his kid. If his dad hadn't asked for it, he likely would never have chosen it himself, even despite his dad not being the same anymore (since it's pretty evident he still loves his dad).
@@ArawnOfAnnwn I disagree he was forced, the child made the choice. The child wasnt forced, coerced, or under duress he simply carried out a request. Like you said, he was asked and I agree that if he wasnt asked he likely would have carried it out however, he was following and carried out an newly open option that aligned with his thoughts, no negative consequences awaited him if he refused. He was not forced. Again, his dad wasnt acting familiar dad and saw him more as a stranger now. He, as a child, wasnt ready to make the call. I decided for my dog because he was bitten by a snake and the flesh was literally melting and falling off of him, an open vet was too far away. I made the choice for my dog because I was the one most knowledgeable of the two of us and likely knew the outcome if this continued, a true suffering demise. Of course the child lacks medical knowledge for the this situation of a mercy kill and is not equipped to make the call especially with doctors and adults present to make a more informed decision. In hind sight, I doubt a common random vet had the exact species of snake anti venom antidote at hand.
@@CaseNumber00 "I disagree he was forced" - I never said he was forced, I said his dad made the choice. He just agreed to help with it. But it was his dads' life (the dad is also the adult here), which he decided he wished to end. The child didn't decide that for him, just went along with it.
There is nothing to rectify. His father was at least honest with the kid as he could easily manipulate him in doing other things which would net the same result.
Furthermore you are able to decide that for yourself. So what if it is illegal, will they put your corpse in jail? 😂
Living just to live is not life at all, just fear of death.
the glamor of this show...
1:43 got me rolling on the floor. That look tho..
that diagnosis from house was correct, for house
It is a good medical theory though! a lot of patients with chronic pain have their pain dialed up because of the meds. that's why a lot of times doctors take you off the drugs if you been on them for a long time, because your body start to develop a resistance
Would being off prednisone and drinkin everyday cause inflammation
It's not theory it's fact, it operates on the same principles of additiction.

the son was being selfless
Is this the actual doctor house channel or just a fan made channel?
So anyone else notice the guy house named dropped in a threatening letter was moments a doctor in the background when the kid was faking it?
Good thing I am not the patient
The patient is hooked up to monitors, but he thinks if his kid starts screaming in the lobby five seconds after he's downed some rubbing alcohol, an entire hospital will be too distracted to prevent him from dying.
It's irrational. Bringing his own son into it is selfish. We could say it's bad writing. But the dad isn't a medical expert. He's just desperate. REALLY desperate. So the series of events kind of work, in this situation. It is unlikely (right?) that he would have died or even altered his own health in any significant way from this attempt, under these circumstances. That doesn't take away from the meaning of this scene.
eh, it depends on what he took. if you down a bottle of bleach then every second counts to save you. if would have taken a couple minutes to get a gurney for the kid and take him away. in that time the poison could have done ireparable damage to the dad's internal organs. sure, he probably wouldn't have died then and there, but if he was that desperate, i think he would have accepted dying within a few days or a week or two
Actually, he would have died, by the time they had realised what he had done, it would have been too late.
Diagnosis of the ep: B A L L S

I think the kid took acting lessons from the 30s
Imagine being in a hospital with your screaming kid, then 20 doctors in lab coats come running to ask what's wrong. XD
So relatable amiright O_O
3:20 one of the few times he looks genuinely upset and concerned for someone else in the show.
Is it bad that I laughed when the kid was on the ground
You don’t have any family do you
Left them all on Krypton lol
The least realistic part of this isnt the rare disorder but that the man wouldnt have been taken off his pain meds two dozen times cold turkey and had to change doctors and endure thousands of painful procedures due to opiophobia
Yeah, one of those moments where this show was irritating. Obviously House is such a genius that in an instant he recognized that kid, who could receive an Oscar for his act, was actually faking and immediately came with FULL certainty to the only possible and logical conclusion that he's doing that to distract everyone because dad drank poison and hid the bottle under his sheets. Surely xD
That's some "Near figuring out who X-Kira is" levels of bullshit
House is "certain" often and can still be wrong. So him coming with full certainty is not surprising. I was wondering if he was faking also, not with certainty, but I'm not House.
To be fair. He does that with everything xd. He has been wrong a Lot of times. But because he always seems to sure then it looks like he knew
Is it just me or is that rigs from greys ?!
I think so. Also, Jack from Virgin River on Netflix.
Good thing I'm not the patient.
did the patient get cured?
Yes. In the end House figures out it's epilepsy.
Yes, he had abdominal epilpsy. You can just look the episode up in the wiki.
Does that cause leg pain?
'Testicles.'
- Gregory House, M. D.
@@matthijsvanemous7046 House said if epilepsy spreads to the sensory regions of the brain and "rewires the pain neurons" it can cause pain. In certain areas of the brain it is invisible to the EEG and that's where it was. It wasn't "abdominal epilepsy".
House doesnt identify himself since he got shot. Lol

I really wish that the US had a single doctor as good as House is. Unfortunately, they do not exist. I'm not even certain they can exist in a capitalist society.
They do exist. Stop being cringe, you commie.
@@redfordreddington8834 You should be greatful you haven't needed one but Ive encountered countless people who suffer with doctors who do the bare minimum. They are never diagnosed properly and given medications to dull pain without the will to diagnose & treat them properly. I'm not saying that all doctors are bad but they do not have the will to truly diagnose patients correctly and device a treatment plan to cure them. I think you are being completely and utterly blind and American Exceptionalist.
@@standingalone001 i think you're making things up as you go along.
@@redfordreddington8834 No. I previously had a clinic as a licensed acupuncturist and literally saw hundreds of patients who had been to thousands of doctors. These patients had nothing but complaints are were very poorly diagnosed and treated. The majority of doctors work within corporate structures within the US under an insurance system which does not promote the diagnostic investigation necessary to help people who are truly suffering.
This is a stupid comment.
This feels completely unrealistic to actual medicine. At 1:09, the patient used an out-of-ten scale for rating his pain, I don't think any patient has ever done so in reality.
Apparently you've never been in a doctor's office. They have posters of the scale on the wall ....... FOR THE PATIENT TO REFERENCE!!!!!
Not really Im a nurse and some of my patients knows ill ask pain scale after vital sign check (TPRBP is the mnemonics it stands for temperature, pulse respiration, blood pressure and pain) so they just automatically answers after bp. 1-10 scale is subjective so its valid if they say it.
