Tesla Converted 500hp Honda S2000 -- All-Electric!

  • Typically when a 500 horsepower Honda S2000 comes around it has a built motor with a huge turbo strapped to it all while making all the wildest sounds imaginable. But our friends at @rywire Motorsports Electronics had something different in mind. They took a Tesla motor and fully integrated it into their Honda S2000 in the cleanest way possible. This might be the easiest or the hardest 500 horsepower swap ever done, ha! The future is coming in hot… whether you like it or not.

      I really appreciate Ron's analogy of being in the Wild West and when he mentioned the similarities in "tuning". I'll always want a big, rumbling V8 or sick, inline with a turbo, but you can still geek out with an EV and customize it on the same level. Really dig the craftsmanship and quality of the build. I hope to see it shred the yard. 🤙😎

      Most of those haters, probably don't even realize how the fuel for their ice cars uses water electricity and cobalt just to refine it.
      And how their ice vehicle's also require multiple electric motors and a battery in order to function. That's right no batteries, no electric motors, no electricity equals no ice vehicle's either. 😎
      And many more are just salty that silent and sleek sedans are now kicking their noisy cars butts with no drama at the strip&on the st to. 😀

    • @piercewright1567
      @piercewright1567 Před 2 lety

      @@4literv6 Ok hold up, lemme say something here..
      I’m not feeling sick about the thought of electrical parts and currents playing into the performance of my Infiniti G37x..it just plays the part in how my car performs, and that’s cool. So yes, all cars have electricity built into them, infused into the fuel and whatnot, that’s just our modern technological innovations in the past years. Nice, idk why you make it sound like we are oblivious to the fact our cars live with electricity already, it’s just not the main point of the ENTIRE focus in an ICE car.
      Moving on, I think most of the haters here, are either…hating because it’s electric, (easy to see why, they swapped out one of the most legendary, and best performing and sounding Honda engines in recent past with a battery), or just dislike something this sacrilegious being done to a legend from Honda’s performance history. They have a right to feel a bit offended by this, don’t hate them for it, people are obliged to feel a certain way about certain things. It’s when the conversation gets toxic and personal is when things really get dumb. But tbh I don’t think most of the people disliking this car are “haters” per se, I just think they are passionate about the legendary heart that contributed to this car being so historical.
      And one last thing. I don’t care. People really shouldn’t care how quick a car is on a 1/4, 1/2 mile, or on the street. It’s infantile in my opinion. But I do prefer track-racing, cornering, aerodynamics, etc, so my opinion is kinda swayed. I just feel it’s un-right to point and laugh about one tiny unrealistic (and mostly un-useable) feat electric cars beat ICE cars in. Yes, they are quick, but can they do anything else besides? That’s the stuff I care about.
      Sorry I was in the mood for a long comment spiel. 😅
      (Edit) : BTW, I’m neutral towards EVs, don’t hate them, don’t love them. They’re alright, I still prefer the sound of a roaring VQ in my life, and that’s alright too. I do stand with the OC on the fact we should embrace new ideas in the car culture, so don’t take my rant as a sort of attack based on me understanding and siding with the passionate commenters in this video’s comment section. All cars should be appreciated for what they are in my opinion. 👍🏾

      Randy pobst wheeled a stock tesla plaid to a top 3 time at Laguna seca(and pobst holds just about all the top time's there

That's right his wife's model y with non slick tires and fully st legal out ran full on track car's. And the model y doesn't have a track mode yet either.

      @piercewright1567 Před 2 lety +1

      @@4literv6 Didn’t have note of all of those records, but thanks for the lesson, learned some new record info. 😆
      Yeah, I know EVs are highly competitive on track, Randy Pobst’s Laguna Seca run said that enough. The only real issue EVs had in terms of track perimeters was handling, weight, body transfer, etc; engineer all those niggles out of the equation and the competitiveness tends to show itself. Evolution was inevitable for EVs to surpass ICEs, if there is one thing wrong with a car, someone is going to do something to counteract that fault. It’s how petrol cars got better in every iteration after the Benz Patent-Motorwagen if you think about it.
      Still though, I tend to prefer the more “alive” feeling a petrol car gives, whether road or track. Gear-changes, running up the rev-range, and feeling out the engine’s performance.
      I’m basically repeating what Jason Cammisa summarized in his video with the CT5-V, F90 M5 CS, and the Plaid. Sure, the Plaid killed both the other cars by a landslide; but in my honest opinion, show up to a track in a CT5-V lined up next to a Plaid..who cares if the CT5-V is slower. The CT5-V looks like an absolute hoot, and sounds amazing. Guarantee petrol cars will produce more smiles-per-hour than any EV, whether Super Saloon v Super Saloon, or Hypercar v Hypercar. Don’t take that to heart plz lol.
      But for anyone who doesn’t care about all mushy stuff that and just wants all out dominance and sacrifice the feel of a living automobile, sure an EV fits that bill. Everyone has their preferences.
      I still appreciate EVs, I think they’re unreasonably quick lmao, and I can see why we have them now, but for as long as i’m legally allowed too, i’m going to be driving my lovely G37 for as long as I live, and any other car I obtain along the way. One or a few people can’t cause the destruction of the entire planet. 👋🏾

      yeah its hard to see this and think about the future of modifying cars. Yes all the work on this is great, but it's not interesting or exciting for me. I don't know if I'm just a gas butthurt or what but I'm with you on not being excited about seeing more and more ev builds as time moves on

    I was wondering today like I wonder if someone's ever done a s2000 ev and I'm glad I came across this video I knew it'd be way too much engineering with reframing and new harnessing and programing unless your doing a full interior custom swap. But I'm glad to see he didn't stray away from the s2k look. Very clean build and I bet it's stupid fast being its probably lighter than a p100D. I just hope you atleast took this sleeper out to gapplebees on some people before putting it on CZcams. Can't imagine what it'd do on a track day

    Such a brilliant build! Great vision and direction for the project in terms of its use for R&D and making the whole build a cohesive visual amalgamation to compliment the changes to the drivetrain. I just wish I knew more about the technology to know what's going on

    This guy got my love soon as i saw the modifed box civic, grew up around JDM and love old school.
    The real deal is accessibility to batteries etc is also a large drive on doing an EV setup not just the logistics of wiring, also as batteries upgrade you typically get away with just swapping them out.
    Go check out EV dragsters and the super high powered packs they have available now in small form factor if $$$ wasn't an issue.
    Like the iBooster idea seen that used on a few builds and its one of those bosch hidden gems

      They will not Tell. If you read the weight and understand something about sportscars and S2000 you would imediatly know they ruined the car. I would say somthing around 500kg (1100lbs) more than the Standart S2000. That's the everage extra wright for EVS...
