This shit is insane. It seems like he hides the reality of the darkness he felt behind this track. A downplay for the people who might worry, a change in perspective because of the cameras, his mood that day, who knows.
The reality of this track is much deeper than he might allow us to see. The true window into his soul and essence of being. His passion is still there, no doubt, but the darkness is masked by his excitement. When he wrote this it was the last song he would make. That last chord was his soul leaving, the fireworks his brains spilling. This shit is phenomenal.

Quedo Rants Ima keep this brutally honest and to some people this may sound disrespectful, but I mean no disrespect when I say this and I’m gonna post this twice here on this thread and my own comment, but Mac Miller made an enormous rookie mistake on the night of his death. Idk who the fuck he had around him, and I know it’s not they’re responsibility, but when your rapper friend is a drug addict and he throws a party and you know he’s heavily drinking, and you’re sleeping over, his friends needa make sure he doesn’t do any thing stupid and check on him because as much as I love Mac and I do, this was the most unexpected, unnecessary celebrity death ina very long time. We’re talking shit faced drunk 2 empty bottles of alcohol found by his body so an enormous amount of alcohol in his system then on top of it he was doing cocaine and Fentanyl. This is where it gets sad if you take the alcohol out of the equation he would of 10000% woke up alive that morning. Neither the cocaine nor the Fentanyl he was using were lethal dosages it was the alcohol, and him mixing 2 of the strongest CNS depressants (Fentanyl and ethanol) together combined with a CNS stimulant (cocaine) that caused his death. Take the alcohol out of the equation that night and he’d be alive. The way his room was found with lines everywhere multiple bags of drugs found one bag being cocaine the other being Fentanyl and all the prescription drugs in his name found on the scene (multiple strong opiates, benzos, adderall) and this was AFTER his friends swept the crime scene clean I couldn’t imagine what his room looked like before they cleaned it. Do not mix opiates and alcohol it’s a lethal combination, and as much as he had problems with drugs the alcohol was more of a problem for him then any of the other stuff the alcohol caused him to drive his G wagon into that light pole and the night of his death the alcohol is what caused a non lethal dose of fentanyl to be extremely lethal. Also the cocaine has a lot to do with his death as well it did one of two things one thing I’m sure of and another im not sure of. The cocaine I’m sure of made him feel a lot less drunk then he really was the problem with that is cocaine is so short acting that if he did the Fentanyl after the cocaine (which im 99% sure he did) then technically at that point the cocaine was actually keeping him alive and he was doing one enormous speedball and as soon as he stopped doing cocaine and the effects wore off and all that alcohol and Fentanyl hit his system it was over. Its just a sad way for a legend to die completely unnecessary and even though the headlines wanna use the word Fentanyl to make the story sound more juicy in reality the alcohol is what killed him and for any drug user out there this is an important lesson anyone who does drugs learns. RIP MAC

This mixtape came out around the time I became really depressed. I started withdrawing from a lot of people I knew, and I just stayed inside a lot. There was a solid year that I really didn't go and see any friends. After that year, I lost a lot of friends. But I remember there were two friends that would text me every so often and see if I was okay. I never told them I was depressed and suicidal because I didn't want to be a burden on them, but they caught on that something was wrong. When we finally hung out after a long time, we were driving and this song came on. I almost skipped it because I was embarrassed of bumpin a song that was so open about depression. But I let it play and it was nice. It wasn't this weird awkward thing I thought it'd be. We were all just chilling. I still haven't brought up how depressed I was and still am, but when we were all just chilling and bumpin this song, I felt like they kind of saw into a part of my life that I'm still ashamed to let people in on.

You can see in the end of this video how emotional this song is for him. When I first heard this song it hit me in the fuckin soul man. I can’t thank this guy enough for making this whole mixtape, and making beautiful music in the incredible dark and vulnerable state he was in. I’ll always cherish this mixtape. that red room just had so much symbolism and depth to it man. despite being in a beautiful place once getting past that fear of not making it in the real world after leaving the comfort of his studio. including things like would the music be good enough. would the critics stop putting his work down? etc etc. he still lived with that fear either consciously or subconsciously, just in a different sense. he had fear that his demons would lead to his demise, music was the only thing that was there for him time & time again. it was his therapy. it was his saving grace. as long as he was working on music he wasn’t pushing his limits while partying. as long as he was creating, he felt purpose. as long as he was sharing his thoughts and feelings in his rhymes and thru his instruments, he felt less alone. wasn’t just in the red room studio. he knew anytime spent not working on music, could be the end of him. at the same time, spending too much time in the red room, in this case just in the studio in general, spending “too much” time working on music, was also hurting his relationships, romantic & platonic. it was hindering him experiencing things out in the “real world”. ya know that line, “i’ve done so much in my short lifetime but i haven’t done shit”.. that red room is a rabbit hole of symbolism pertaining to his feelings, state of mind, thoughts, fears, wants, desires.
oh what i would give for the red room to still be intact how he had it, and to get to spend some time in there. to admire, to reflect, to take in the vibes & energy…

macs always been my fav artist, but it’s so weird growing up and understanding more of what he went through with time. i went from having no anxiety/depression in high school to days in college, to being 23 and being afraid to do anything~ constantly anxious about the feeling of death around the corner. thoughts of wtf is even life, questioning the point of shit, everything. macs music speaks to me even more the older i get. hopeful to reach a point of peace soon, but a warfare in your mind is tough man. just gotta keep pushing through.
I feel you, im 23 too bro, felt the depression, anxiety in my body and brain since I was a kid, mac's music has helped more than I can remember in my life, like he has always been there, in the most profound pain, joy, neutral or whatever state I could be, I started taking antidepressants and life has changed 360 for me, I no longer feel the angst I always felt inside and I dont get affected too much by negative toughts, thanks to mac I got a more spiritual perspective like "I don't know shit, but im glad im here" you know, float a little and keep swimming, hope you get that peace of mind soon my dude, meditation has helped me alot too.
