The rule i have by now is never to buy a product based on the company's promises
That’s a good rule to have!
Good on you for calling them out on dropping the Maschine integration. We need to get more attention from influencers and creators on this issue. They said on their forums "only a small percentage of users used both products together" but judging by the response on the forums and comments here that's BS. IMO they just wanted to cut costs. Such a shame that they developed a great system only to abandon it.
My hypothesis on this is, the Kontrol has a broader market than Maschine. Due to the fact that I see people who do not use Maschine using the older Komplete Kontrol.(Users of FL, Ableton, Logic, Cubase, etc.) So when they asked if people use both, they received the response that more people don't. However, the hardcore Maschine users did use both all the time. And together they were perfect. So it may look like we are only a small group out of everyone. But, with all of the responses about this, I think it will change. Hopefully soon!
The main issues you spoke of about the keyboards are exactly what I said in my video. What's upsetting is that it seems NI is making the Maschine software obsolete, which I don't know why because that's what makes the older models of the keyboards/drum machines enjoyable with it. I would use the new keyboard but I hate using Maschine as a plug-in in FL Studio and Pro Tools
Yea man. To me using Maschine as a plugin dampens the experience. We’ll see what happens. However, I see some features with Logic that turns my iPad into a Maschine. lol
Obsolete? Don't say that, I've just picked up one and Loving it.
I do have the S61 however
But way prefer the Maschine MK3
@@DDS825 Ha, nice. Well, call me 'old fashion' but that's one of the reasons why I don't like these new updates, but it is what it is, I guess lol
@@oldskoolraver2024 it just hasn’t had any major changes in a while. I think they’ll provide some updates over time. It’s long overdue. Maschine is great! I enjoy using it. But, the combo of both is amazing!
@@jaunti what’s one of the reasons?
I think that unit has came a long way and being that all my stuff is NI with Cubase I like it now with the upgrade. It works with Maschine without the way it would with a DAW. I still have the NKS plugins come up in Maschine. Now we just need a upgrade to Maschine MK3 and seeing how we can make the experience better! Cool vid fam! Had to come through and support! Blessings!
Thanks man! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Yes, I agree. I enjoy the keyboard. But man I wish it could use it in the Maschine software. It would be perfect. lol But, for now I’m in Logic.
Great video!!
Thank you! 😁
It doesn’t seem Maschine support is forthcoming. Then, it doesn’t seem full midi 2.0 support is coming fast either, but the polyphonic aftertouch and the Logic + Komplete Kontrol integration is the primary selling point. Some VSTs take advantage of MPE expressiveness like Roli and Osmose, but NI doesn’t seem to be going there - too bad. I guess I just wait….
i spole on this for years on NI forum. Maschine HW and SW is a "thing", Smart Play and KK keyboard is a "thing"...then its KK SW. The new flagship KK keyboard is like "MK3" i guess. They got fix Smart Play across the board. Seamless with Kontakt for play and playback, and Maschine piano roll. Great feedback DDS!
I’m hoping we end up with the seamless integration with Maschine soon. It worked so well.
It's worked seamlessly for years.. It made no sense to Seperate them...
I use My KK A49 for a long time paired with my Maschine Mk3.
I wouldn't buy a KK Mk3 damn I've been looking at Arturia.
@@JayfkProductions876 Yea, it was a perfect pair. Which Arturia are you looking at?
Agree with you 100% that the Kontrol MK2 is a better keyboard than the MK3 if you are using Maschine. And that is a big step backwards. I use DAWs too but Maschine is my primary tool to generate ideas and that's in concert with the Kontrol S88MK2. Native Instruments really has some explaining to do here and I don't feel comfortable recommiending the Kontrol MK3 keyboards. Might as well go with an Arturia Essential MK3 which is what I bought instead as my second keyboard and has better integration with Arturia instruments.
Exactly! The Maschine and KK MK2 is Perfect! My KK MK2 just started glitching out, and that hurt. lol So I setup the new keyboard and started using Logic. Hopefully, they'll Kontrol MK3 work with Maschine soon. How are you enjoying the Arturia Keyboard?
@@DDS825 It's really cool. Especially with Arturia V Collection, Pigments, and I recently found a video where somebody was using the sliders to control the Fairlight page in Davinci Resolve. The Bitwig integration isn't too bad for working with an external DAW. So that will be a future project to try out. The companion software to the Keyboard that let's you edit and save settings is worthwhile checking out. I especially respect Arturia for their NKS integration with Maschine/Kontrol.
Great video, how do I connect and setup my S88 mk2 and Maschine Mk3 so they are fully integrated. People show you what they can do together, but no one show or tell you how to set them up, I have the new Motu 828 as an interface 28 x 32 and is it better to use the MIDI ports or USB many thanks
Thank you. The Maschine and Komplete Kontrol MK2 is plug n play. So it should work automatically. If not, you should check the settings in Maschine to see if the Komplete Kontrol is selected.
I was excited for the new keyboard until they abandoned the Maschine MK3 integration that was a complete let down...I was saving for it also but I just grabbed the smaller 32 key older one...and now I'm seriously thinking about snatching up the Live 2...and switch all together...The Maschine software along with the hardware was a vibe to me.... kinda feel like the wrong investment move because I like the ecosystem Native Instruments products had that's what got my attention!!! Now they're integrating izotope, u-he, brainworks etc but not integrating their own hardware is not a good move...are they even listening to the community at this point....!!!!! I'm giving them 8 months if I don't hear something about new or current Maschine hardware/software integrations.. I'm just gonna keep what I have and move accordingly and hopefully they won't stop the integration we have now!!!
I can understand all of that. I was majorly let down by that, as a full time Maschine user. I hope they add the integration soon. Only time will tell. People keep telling me to look into Ableton. I’m torn at the moment because I’m using Logic. But either way the Kontrol MK3 will work. Lol
I use it in maschine but its basic function at that point and the screens dont even match whats happening . Haven’t really even dived in solo yet so I prob could have just stuck with the mk1 but it does feel great ( 88 weighted ).
Exactly! That’s all it is right now. Which is disappointing. I would love to be able to use it with Maschine and see what I’m doing on the screen like I can in other DAWs. Maybe one day. Lol
@@DDS825 yeah I’m with you man. I have logic and I’ve been thinking about getting back into it. I used to use it for years but it’s been years since I’ve been on maschine so still pondering lol.
💎💎💎
Thank you for watching.
For a normal Midi Keyboard it's fine However for someone who used his NI Keyboard along with Maschine... They fucked up Taking away Maschine Compatibility THAT WAS DUMB
The MK2 and Maschine worked so perfectly! Yea, I was disappointed.
I feel NI keeps dropping the ball with their integration.🤦🏾♂️
I definitely think the Maschine software and this keyboard should have worked together right when it was released. Now you have to use another DAW to enjoy the keyboard. Hopefully, this will change soon.
NI is falling off when it comes to their maschine. To have a new keyboard and it’s not compatible with mk3 is insane. I don’t feel bad switching to Akai anymore smh
Hopefully, they are gearing up for something new when it comes to Maschine. What do you think about Akai?
@@DDS825 I love it just purchased the MPC X se. Reminds me of my old MPC 2000xl
That shit definitely is not worth it. NI has touted this as being abl÷ to adjust parameters on Kontakt instruments. Who is actually tweekingnparameters like that? Most people just load up presets and add effects. This keyboard is made of plastic, has no faders, and Maschine noncompatibility aside he does only basic DAW functions any controller can do. Arugula has way better controllers than this. The best thing about the Ni keyboards was tge sequencer they control-- Maschine. This clunky plastic toy is not worth $800 by far. This reminds me of the old Christmas specials where Santa used to be making wooden toys. Like who plays with that crap in these modern days?
There are some people who tweak sounds. I personally am more of a presets and effects person. I agree, the controllers are great with Maschine.
They straight digressed bro, how are you gonna move forward with one of the main selling points of your previous generation...GONE!!!
Yea that was the entire selling point honestly. That made them stand apart from everyone else. Hopefully, we'll get back to it in the future.
That wack ass keyboard shows tge business model of NI. They have never been concerned with beat making software like a DAW, or sample groove boxes like MPCs. NI's only concerns were to sell its virtual instruments. At tge time people were not buying virtual instrument suits like that, . So NI made the Maschine hardware as a basis for people to buy its VSTs. And people eventually started using them in DAWs. Personally the Maschine software is bunk and I see no reason to ever buy a Komplete suite. Abelton and a Push, Logic and a MPK, or FL Studio and its controllers, are way more of a better option than a MK3 or NI keyboard.
That’s an interesting perspective. I will say the Maschine MK3 is great, in my opinion. And they do make some great sounds. I bought the FL studio controller and tried it for a day and took it back. Lol
@@DDS825 dam, it was that bad 😬
@@mrsicc6100 once I left FL, I could never get back into it for some reason.
@@DDS825 I agree, Maschine MK3 and Maschine software overall changed the landscape of groove boxes and more. NI is the cream of the but, they are drifting away from their innovative and creative focal points.
