  • This is the BDH H1, a sim racing shifter that well surpasses the thousand dollar mark and promises to give the most realistic H-pattern shifting experience. I got one in for review so in today's video, I'll be putting the BDH H1 to its paces, telling you all the good, the bad, and whether this sim racing shifter is worth its staggering price tag.

    Dear @OCRacing
    As a BDH H-1 owner myself, I think a clarification is in order on this product review. It is in fact a 7 speed shifter, plus reverse. BDH can either build your shifter out to be mounted in one of two directions. If you were to rotate your particular shifter 180 degrees, with the bulk of the shifter enclosure facing your pedals, you achieve the correct orientation for 7 forward gears, and reverse at the bottom right.
    I feel this is a major misrepresentation of an otherwise amazing piece of sim racing hardware.
    Additionally, manufacturing costs of aluminum vs nylon knobs is not what everyone might think. Nylon is actually more expensive currently than raw aluminum. The low thermal conductivity of nylon is a huge plus in my opinion. Obviously, everyone's opinion is different.

    • @_batt
      @_batt Před 7 měsíci +6

      You can also change which side reverse is on, they have a tutorial on the website that you can see when you register an account, you click on the profile button and it's under "Support Videos". I did it on mine and it was extremely easy, the 7+R part was half the reason why I went with this instead of the Simvertex.
      It's quite odd how many "reviewers" get their hands on these without reading fully into how the product actually works...

      I agree. This is in the most a good review of an awesome product. Yes, I do own one, which I regularly use as a 7 speed. I also owned a Prosim prior to purchasing the BDH, which I promptly sold after I felt the superiority of the H1 Bazooka. The guys at BDH are incredibly knowledgeable about real-life race cars, in particular transmissions. What they've created is nothing more than an exceptional representation of reality. What you've done is misrepresent that through a lack of knowledge. How much research did you do beforehand?
      One thing that is also unusual is the finish, which you described as unacceptable. What did BDH say about that? My experience of them is a customer service that is second to none.

  • @Mefayor
    @Mefayor Před 7 měsíci +2

    I think that with the uprise of sim racing gear, which is good, one could probably either decide to stick with gear that falls under a certain vehicle type, or spend some money and have rigs and wheels and shifters according to each vehicle / race style.
    Just from watching you shift the gears I think that this shifter is pefect if you stick to road / race cars with manual gearboxes in real life and the feeling must be awesomely perfect, like this shifter looks like it would have a lot of use in driving school for instance, as well as races with touring cars, but that is imho about it.
    And considering that most sim racers probably have the money or resources to do amatuer - semi pro race classes in real life, where being pro at shifting a manual is a must, I think that this shifter will have no competitor for now.
    I can only imagine having a sim rig with this shifter, doing a couple of races (assetto corsa - touge? 😛) and having in your garage a road ready Honda or Bimmer or any touge car and after a couple of hours spent in sim racing, I think that one could easily shift (mm what a pun 😀) to the real deal.
