@@wolfness27 That was his goal, when everyone hated him and he couldn’t trust nobody. Now that he actually has people he cares about and wants to protect, he’s willing to fight for them so that they can have a world to safely live in. Plus he’s willing to fight against the tortoise, to protect the innocent people that live in his domain. Maybe not selfless but noble in my eyes.

I really like how brazen Naofumi is in these scenes. It's a job. He wants it done properly. Not "honorably" or anything like that.
It's all meaningless to him if failing here means the few people he cares about will get hurt, and if that means taking care of the problem by himself he will go and do like he has prior.
It's why i really love his dynamic with Raphtalia.
She helps balance it out by reminding him that part of his life where he was completely alone is over.
In a job you don't insult and refuse to work with your employer or coworkers and doing all the work yourself it's unprofessional and idiotic.

In a military operation where lives are on the line? If you're dealing with dysfunctional officers that won't work together it is better to abandon them and try to work with those that will.
To put this in perspective, top officers arguing about what the best course of action is will usually be worse than troops being allowed to be flexible and organize.
In 1991, Saddam's forces were incredibly strict, arguing about a better strategy to deal with the US led coalition and it cost them dearly to the point the US had to decide when the killing ended.
The one time Iraqi forces remotely made US forces fight on even grounds was when several if Saddam's Republican Guard moved their tanks to meet US armor in the Battle of Norfolk, gaining respect of US tankers for staying and fighting.
@@dfmrcv862 you would be right if naofumi chose to work with anyone but instead he chose to ostracize everyone and take on the threat himself even though he doesn't have the power or the resources to do so.
@@wolfness27 I wouldn't say he "ostracized everyone". He told them off, even saying he would follow any strategy they proposed, but basically warned them that if all they would do was squabble then he wouldn't bother with them and he would go handle the threat himself.
He didn't deny aid, he just said he wouldn't work with them if that's how they intended to operate.

Naofumi (and also the other heroes) is a perfect example of "look at the actions of a person, don't listen to their words"
because not matter how brazen and cold naofumi sounds his actions show compassion towards those who need help and is mostly allways doing the good/right thing. as opposed to the three other heroes who talk about justice, virtue and such things but their actions usually boils down to "I want to be the best/strongest/most liked/appreciated" and their actions reflect this perfectly by how they act impulsive and like others are beneath them.
I love naofumi so much, he’s so selfless even after all he’s been through

It's funny how the guy who says he isn't a hero is most certainly the real hero in the hero of four since he actually cares about the people in danger, sure his priority is his friends and comrades but he still cares for the people that are helpless in defending themselves while most of the people around the table seems to care more of who gets the credit for "defeating" the enemy wave!!
And that's why Naofumi is the CHAD he is. The Anime MC that our world needs right now.
It's the scene with his fellow Heroes discussing the best attributes of a weapon all over again, only this time with much bigger stakes. He's as fed with the BS now as he was then. XD

@@VinsBloodshotEye In the Light Novel, Naofumi......is kind of a selfish person. He dosent care for anyone but Raph and Filo. So when the generals get cocky about the leadership, Naofumi gets the "Hero Mode" and gives a spech. Read the Light Novel

That’s what made me start watching this show haha
Yeah, it 100% went down in quality, The art style is still there, and I still like the anime, but the detail and animation went down enough that it's noticeable. If the detail went down to increase animation for fights, that works, but it's just not, so the quality is worse than season 1.

Is this really still the same studio and writers? What happened? The pacing is way too fast. There's been piles of exposition introducing tons and tons of new things but very little time given to character development.
I feel like they've lost what made the first season so great! The biggest things in season one were Raphtalia and Naofumi overcoming their traumas and growing closer together. struggles
Who the hell are all the new cast members who apparently joined up OFF SCREEN?!

What the hell how did Yuno from Black clover end up here.
This was literally just Japanese defense bureaucracy. Everyone constantly arguing on how to handle a situation and nothing getting done.
From these two episodes I lost my hope for the continue of this anime. Will the story get better in the LN or is there something special like the first season to watch?
If your looking for a diving in point for the LN's then just start at vol 1 since theres a ton of little things in between that pace out the story better, season 1 is basically vol 1- the first part of vol 6.
these first 2 eps seemed a bit off to me idk why.

I don't see naofumi coming up with any strategies, it's easier to criticize than to do better.
Actually he is very smart in the opening scene of the first episode of shield hero season 1. Naofumi was playing what looked like an MMO shortly before he left his home to go to the library where he finds the 4 heros book. There was also an excerpt of the light novel from the day before naofumi got summoned

Yea he made a scene over nothing. Nations arguing/discussing plans of action, formations, leadership, ect is totally natural, even if it seems childish.
