The differential Pinion Flange is part of the universal joint that connects the drive shaft to the rear differential. Years of water and salt could rust or seize the flange, or cause other problems. This video shows you how to install a new TRQ differential pinion flange on your 1998-2011 Ford Ranger.

How do you not have more subscribers!? I was a mechanic for 6 years but switched to engineering so I like to reference videos before I tackle a job and I gotta say this video was excellent. Subscribed.

Great vid, but why de-adjust the brakes? They literally have nothing to do with a pinion seal replacement...?

Appreciate the video but two things I don't like.
First, in a video like this fastener sizes/style should always be noted. It's always baffled me that the majority of "how to's" don't do it.
Second, I would contend that the method shown for measuring rotational torque is wrong and a click style torque wrench is inappropriate. You're measuring residual or break away torque (The amount of force it takes to get the pinion to move). This is not what you're looking to measure when taking a rotational torque measurement on a automotive differential.
In order to correctly measure it you need to use a beam style torque wrench whose measurement can vary. You then must overcome the break away torque and measure how much torque it takes to keep that pinion turning at a constant speed. That's the number you're looking for.
The measurement shown may tell you that you have the same breakaway you did before the repair but it doesn't tell you that your rotational torque is good and that's what matters when setting up a diff.

Great video. The only thing I would add is make sure you can get that fill plug out before you tackle this job. It would really suck if you did all that work and then couldn’t fill your diff at the end.

Man, this is a really great video. Too bad it made me realize that I'm taking my truck to a garage to do this instead of doing it myself lol.

Ugh, no mention of the size on the bolts or fill plug, "gentle bonk" then proceeds to swing like Thor fighting ice giants. And annoying. Give me an old dude on his back under a tree that tells you how to do it the easy way..
