  • A look at our Hub Motor EBike Conversion Kits and all of the options that come along with them.
It can be a bit daunting to convert a bike to electric but here we try to distill it down so that the process is as simple as possible (as much as we can fit in under 23 minutes that is!).
There are certainly more options out there than what we presented in this video, but hopefully this covers the vast majority.
Mid Drive motors are a subject for a different video, this is just a basic look at hub motor installations.

Is that a rack with hundreds of battery packs on it? Awesome shop!

would it work on a bike with internal-gear hub?

Those generally need a front hub motor, if you replace an internal geared you're going to lose your shifting gears

I'm not sure any sensor for a bicycle brake to motor cut off is needed. It's not needed on a 150 hp motorcycle.. Why a 1 or 2 hp bike? I have never had a problem with an E bike motor cutting off after I stop turning the throttle. And suppose you don't want a cadence sensor? Just throttle .. 🤔

Hey Kevin these are great comments! Some municipalities require the brake sensors (by law) so that is one major factor, and the other factor is just a "backup" safety, in case the pedals accidentally move or someone accidentally hits the throttle, the brake sensors will stop the power.
And cadence sensor is optional! These can absolutely run on throttle only 👌😊

I've riden motorcycles for 30 years and have built a few ebikes. I actually prefer the cutoff sensor for a couple of reasons: there's sometimes a microsecond lag that I will say is like a stuck throttle. Two of my bikes have looped out because of this. The sensor cuts power immediately and saved my butt a few times. Also, it's a nice feature for slow tight turns when you just want to pedal, just pull the brake slightly and you won't get crazy assist with a cadence sensor setup.

@@paulmryglod4802Yes ,I have both assist and throttle fitted but no cut off brakes, when I'm using pedal assist and its still going while I break i just blip the throttle, this shuts assist off immediately 👍🤠💯

When I need to start stopping and also need to downshift. I need to pedal to downshift but I don't want the motor on.
