Important information... "Mountain Dew" Is a lore accurate Roegadyn name.
So would be 'Gushing Spring' for a Femroe Hellsguard......
basically any "adjective noun" are lore accurate when it comes to Hellsguard Roes.
If you wanna be EVEN MORE accurate, female Hellsguard tend to have names relating to floras, while male Hellsguard have names relating to minerals or things that are generally "earthy" like Boulder, Mountain, Diamond, etc.
But this isn't set in place, like how we have a notable male Hellsguard called Redolent Rose for example. And sometimes Hellsguard in-game also still have the old naming convention that Sea Wolves follows.

WELL LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING BROTHER, ROGADYNS ARE ONE OF THE BEST LOVEABLE RACES IN EORZEA AND THATS WHY DUDE, ROEGADYNS KEEP RUNNING WILD WITH ROEGAMANIA BROTHER!
I play Femroe in FFXIV, my character has become so iconic with my FC that while everyone fantasia's on a whim without anyone else batting an eye, I changed my characters hair and the whole FC lost their minds! I cannot change my Femroe in any way shape or form. But you know what, I wouldn't have it any other way! I love my Femroe! And I refuse to play anything else.
Oof, i played a max height fem roe for about 2 years and spent multiple fantasias just to get her eye colour just right to look impressive with most glams and got a ton of praise and /tells and made like 20 friends, but after those 2 years i wanted to try out some AURA out of the blue and right after that everyone was shocked and told me how much they missed my Roe and then after about a week i went back to ROE
until about about a month ago i tried out Viera 😂 and some of my friends started treating me like a traitor, but honestly i just want to test out all the races but its also having shocking effects on my ff14 friends!
I fantasia'd into many races before settling on my Femroe, now I just can't imagine playing my character as a different race anymore

@@soldierorsomething Got a male veira,femroe and male elzen now. I love sitting there and messing with character creation. Most of my old guild use to ask for my sliders(or whatever you call) for their characters when they Fantasia. Never got a horthgar good though. Noticed a few famous NPCs can be made with though
So funny note about the muscle sliders, every race has a range of muscle definition that is built in but the slider is hidden for other races
Muscle sliders would sincerely be appreciated on the other races. especially Viera!

I find it so funny, my ex who got me into ffxiv played a max height fem roe and was significantly shorter than me irl. While I played a min height fem miqo'te 😂
I'm a tall dude and I go back and forth between Max Height male Hugelander, or near Max Height Femroe.

No joke, me and my husband play with the same dynamic! I was the one who introduced him to the game, and he plays a male miqo'te. Meanwhile, cut to me, playing max height fem roe, and we think the fact we go from him being a head and a half taller than me, to suddenly half my size is funny.
(Plus, with my bad eyesight, that point about easily finding myself in a crowd isn't a joke! It's so nice actually, and makes it so much easier to play.)
As a Elezen, I welcome all Roes as friends.
As a person who plays a max-height roegadame healer, here are some of my favorite reasons to play roegadyn:
▫Wearing the biggest, tallest hats makes you a fashion idol that no one can deny. Any pointy healer/caster hat will make you easy to spot in a crowd, try the demon hat! When playing tank try the helmet from Odin's armor (Dark Divinity), the combination of roe height plus the absolutely massive horns on the helm means you'll strike fear into the hearts of bosses and off-tanks alike.
▫As a healer, your job is to carry the party while keeping them alive. As a Roe, you could probably literally carry the whole party on your back. Who needs healer LB3 when you can use pure roegadyn willpower to bench press the boss into oblivion and bridal carry the party back home safely in your strong, beautiful arms?
▫Being taller means you can be closer to Merlwyb. Someday she'll notice me...
As a Roe, i gotta say its nice to always stick out of the Masses but the ERPers man, didnt expect so many messages in that way XD
um yes i get "tall" told to me alot hoping to start ERPing with me. not a particualr fan of that till i kill them with kindness and say no. too much "mummy dom me" ppl out there lol
I don’t get messages from ERPers but I get called cute a lot. Maybe it has something to do with the home world but I don’t think I wanna go through that 😂
@SS I put in my character bio "decadent thicc fem roe, a lifter of men♡" and I guess that's an invite thinking I'm a fem roe domme. I I've gotten the "tall" or "my your tall" from a few bun bois and that's a nope from me lol. I just keep forgetting I went extreme on all sliders. I'm death by snoo snoo in its fullest form lol.
@@darkmistress1980 my girl is also a max on all sliders (I keep wondering why she has such toned arms and then remember muscle slider is a thing) but I have a tendency to put floral glam so maybe that's why she's often called cute. Ah yes, maybe that's what attracts them. And yeah bun bois can be quite "enthusiastic" I've encountered some who would purposefully turn to stare at her chest when they noticed that she was standing near them 😂

But I don't stand around in cities for too long...so that might be the reason.
As a six and a half foot tall dude I am proud to still be the tallest in my FC as a green-skinned FemRoe :)
I actually started my character's life as a Viera, but the annoyance of not having hats bugged me so much I fantasia'd to a max height, max muscle femroe, and gave her the hardest sounding Sea Wolf name I could come up with: translated, if comes out to "Iron-Willow, Daughter of Black-Wolf". I adore her a lot, and couldn't imagine ever being anything else.

my first ever character design I did was as a FemRoe who I styled after Xena Warrior Princess. No regrets.

But he's an Au Ra. The armor just makes him look like a roe.
I've been a Femroe ever since I started playing right before Endwalker, and while I fanta'd to a Lala and a Highlander, I've come back to Femroe every time.
It's just such a great feeling arriving in an Alliance Raid or doing stuff with the FC, and always sticking out above the rest.
I knew when I started this game years ago that I wanted to make a Gentle Giant character. I've been so attached to my Male White Mage Roegadyn even still to this day! I've finally started to level other Job, but White Mage will always be my main!
Also I enjoy how my character feels like he rounds out the Scions. We got plenty of Elezens, a good mix of Hyurs, Miqo'tes and Lalafels, but there's no BEEF on the team lol. (Well, the main team, I know there's some in the B-Team Scions lol)
Fellow mRoe. Always love how we're almost always out of frame when standing next to the smaller Scions like Alphinaud. I remember this one cutscene in Heavensward where my head was entirely out of frame because it needed to be able to show him and Cid next to me.
Also fellow mRoe here who mains White mage! (gentle giant trope my beloved) Haven't been playing that long myself yet but already know I will be sticking with Roegadyns they've stolen my heart 💙 tried to first play as Lalafell but that didn't get me far 😂😂

I gotta say, thank you for making these. They’re fun but also informative. I love the lore in this game but am usually fitting playing into a moderately busy schedule so a lot of it gets lost for progression. These are a fun way to learn some lore and also admire the many fashionistas in the game.
Femroe, for when you like playing as a beautiful woman but also want to look like you might actually beat things to death for a living. 🗡️🗿🛡️

OMG finally it's happening! WOOO! I'll admit I DID fantasia to an Au ra from Roe after your last video but only stayed for a few days before I really missed Roe. A few years ago I went femroe on a dare from my FC and I ended up loving it. As a fantasia addict I do keep trying to like other races like Au ra and Viera but I've found myself going back to Roe. The animations are fantastic and you can really dress up as punk and goth really easily (my two favorite glam choices) I go shortest Roe though because unlike other people, I am fairly short in real life and....I like it. In fact when I first went Roe I was concerned because I was SO TALL. But I got used to it and being a short Roe was fun. Like a spunky younger Roe sister. But when I went to Au ra I quickly realized that I just couldn't stand being so small anymore. Very sad because lizards are awesome but ah well. I have amazing animations to compensate.
I can't wait for female Hrothgar to feed my addiction more. I am just concerned, like many probably are, with what treatment they will get. But I am hopeful. I don't really care about being a step on me mommy but I am a larger built person so it is really nice to have something that feels more me in game. Having two will be fantastic.
I like this serie of video so much! Usually when people make video about FF14 races, it's just to make fun of them in a way and it's quite repetitive I think but you're taking a different approach with being positive about them and I think that's really great! I like that ♥
Love my roe. Choose roe at first because I wanted to be a big brawler type. Way too many hours of game later, I'm still trying to find the perfect glams for every class 😅 nice vid
Female roegadyn player. Point 10 is 100% accurate for me. I'm not going to say I will switch to female hrothgar once it comes out but I will experiment with character creation and check out the animations to see if it's a contender.

I'm very tall IRL, so I play a very short Miqo. I am, however, a great appreciator of Femroes which is why I have three of them in my grand company unit so I can dress them up all the time.
Random gift giving does happen in other MMOs, but it's much rarer
When I started the game I went femroe since I saw they were the least played race/sex combo. It’s a lot of fun and interesting in terms of glam struggles. Being so big and so removed from the norm of female character body types you really have to work hard in order to make glams that work.
I'm tall irl. My main is a femzen, but I have a femroe alt, and glamour is my endgame. The fashion industry *claims* they love tall women and wants us to wear all the pretty designer clothes, but when you're also an hourglass shape, suddenly they think you don't exist. Which is the same comment I always hear from other XIV CZcamsrs about femzen and femroe players! Funny how that worked out.

The Sea Wolves have the best naming schemes because it's actually an old language. Like Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn in their language means "Sea Woman, Daughter of the Blue Fish".
Finally someone praise that.. when i switch to Roegadyn i create _my own_ Roegadyn Name (Lore wiki etc and a hour work) i also start to Translate other Roegadyn Names after that like "Ahldsky" means "Old Ship"

PS. The Name was Rhotahr Sthaltrachsyn what is translated in "Red Eagle, Son of Steel Dragon" (yeah im a Gunbreaker, Darkknight, Reaper (soon Dragoon) Player.. how did you know?)
I feel #7 called me out specifically. My first FFXIV character is a femroe, max height. I am 5'2" irl.
Highlander is it's own race. Please do.
I second this mostly because it kind of infuriates me on petty grounds that the data that gets collected on them is always mixed with Midlanders. You have perfect examples of sub-categories within the same race like Sun or Moon Miqo'te that add some unique characteristics to every WoL, but I'd bet if you'd ask most people who play them most of the reason why they'd choose to play as one is because of the cat characteristics. This type of relationship, though the details might vary between what is divided in the type, is repeated for almost every other race expect Hyur. I don't think people play Midlander for the same reason they play Highlander. Midlanders have a perfect appeal to people who like the Isekai, dropped into another reality, aesthetic - that's not a jab either, it's just human nature to want to put ourselves sometimes greatly into a narrative. Midlander's are very flexible because of this because there are many type of people and the sky is the limit to what can be created; they are the D&D fighters of FF14. Highlanders even at their shortest height to me are always extra. They are extra muscular, extra emotive... and yes extra thicc. But that makes them a bit more narrow in terms of what at least I think stays within the realm of suspended disbelief. I've played female highlander for so long that I've gotten used to the goofy nature of my choice. Like I'll be playing Paladin, my first job, even now in level 90 content with a set of serious looking armor pieced together from many different things (Eureka, Raids, Artifact gear etc)... and then I'll get some random quest I'm doing to fill out some time where it asks me to emote >rally to raise the spirits of someone... and I'll look like the silliest thing swaying my body, always using various unsubtle hand gestures. And I kind of love that odd disparity. It's like Cynthia from the Pokemon anime if that's a good reference people will still get. She's strong, supremely capable, and sometimes so intimidating that others will avoid contact altogether... and then she opens her mouth and says something silly which makes all that pressure turn to confused bemusement.

I love the hellguard names cause you can give your character a deep and still treight forward name, like my femroe Able moon.

I picked max size femroe the moment I started playing this game and literally the only thing I would even consider fantasia-ing for is hrothgals, if they turn out good. Thanks for making the case for the giant ladies! There are dozens of us! DOZENS

Great vid, funny thing for me was the fact that I was a lalafell since 2.0 and decided I wanted to be a unique race that was rarely played... on the female side :3 Fem Roes are highly gorgeous and elegant to my eyes and have been significantly more fun to glam than my usual of glamming a male lalafell to look like a female lalafell (but with the dark tipped ears for being male). I pretty muched tried as many glam options as I did back then but when you become a Roe from Lalafell, everything hits significantly different and it took some time to truly find the glams that worked best for me.
Now I also get some people who want me to basically be their mother but I never understood why. Nobody messes with lalafells but when I became a fem roe, it's like the old school protect healer skill buff finally disappearing due to the duration hitting 0. On the bright side, no more being treated as food or an evil demon because of other lalafells.
Max height, max muscled male Hellsguard Roe here, and I constantly get absolutely moist looking at myself in various full armour sets (Eden/Abyssos set, Odin armour, you name it).
I always have a challenge of which to pick between Elezen and Roe due to how gear looks on them. They know how to pull off some amazing gear that otherwise looks odd on other races.
From the beginning I started as a Hellsguard FemRoe (Face 1 for extra rarity and because I could make a round soft face, those giant shy girl vibes) - and the main two reasons were because they were the rarest option (I *never* see a clone, even among other FemRoe players) and because I am very short irl, so yeah, ultimate fantasy wish fulfillment.
That their racial dance exists purely for jiggle physics is too funny
I played FFXI back then and since Galka was exclusively male only race I dreamed of playing a female version of that race, and lo and behold I got my wish! Thank you for thie video, it really made my day! I cackled at the short note on this. Also, I'm an American player that plays on a Japanese server and fair chance you see any Roegy for that matter is like finding a shiny Pokemon lol.
The funny thing about Hellsguard Roegadyns: you could name one something like "Solid Snake," and it would be lore-accurate.
Before I watch know I’ve been playing a Galka going on 13 yyears now including XI and XIV. I am going to be critical of this list.
Sadly rathalos does not scale :(. It'd be awesome to ride a giant dino/dragon but alas, it is standardize throughout the various races. I love the bronco bike tho since that one scales 😁
What i love the most about being a roe is the expressivity of the emotes. I know it's a silly minor thing, but i love how outlandish roe emotes are 😂
For those wonder, 3:14 the weapon is called Edge of the Goddess. It's a Master Blacksmith IV weapon.
Some downsides of playing a Roe, from someone who's been playing Roe for far too long:
1. Your silhouette completely covers the NPC you're trying to talk to. Unless you consciously zoom in and tilt the camera, you might go through a whole quest chain without ever getting a good look at the NPC it's about.
2. Housing is so much more annoying to explore. I know everyone struggles with camera clipping in housing, but Roes have it worst. I like to imagine that every time my camera clips into the wall or behind a decoration, my character is bumping his head on a doorframe or wall mount in-universe.
3. Glamour. This one is specific to male Roes. A lot of outfits are designed to look sleek and slender, and that just doesn't work on a wide MRoe chest. On the other hand, some outfits that look okay on a slim waist look way better on a massive chest that gives the details room to shine. It completely changes which kinds of gearsets you end up pursuing.
4. Your walking speed feels slower. It isn't, to be clear, but your long legs take big steps to cover double the distance of a Miqote, so your walking cycle animates more slowly. This can sometimes make the game feel more sluggish than it actually is.
5. There's no point beating around the bush, let's face it - you're going to step on a Lala. It's going to happen. They only come up to your knees, it's only a matter of time. If you load into an instance and you see a Lala emerging out of your left leg like an amoeba, don't be embarrassed. It happens to all of us.
I was almost tempted to create a Roegadyn.once, intended to make him a White Mage.
This max-height, max-muscled Hellsguard healer, who, in character, is the biggest, softest, wimp you will ever come across. He would cry having to go kill ground squirrels.
And his name is Stoic Hurricane.
When me and my gf started FFXIV I made a lalafell character, and she made a max height femroe. Seeing the height discrepancy between us was and still is hilarious to see.
I truly get a sense how small I am whenever I peek at her screen.
I have a friend who plays a lalafell while I play a femroe... every time I get subjected to any sort of miniaturization I immediately stop doing whatever is important, find him and say, "I'm on your level now. I understand your experience."
I am also tall in real life; with every RPG I always hit the height slider to max on the tallest race because I'm not giving up on my looking down on others. :D
Also my FC leader is a collector of Roes; She's a Roe, I'm a Roe, and at least another four of us are Roes and we know more Roes from other FCs that we now have Treasure Hunt parties made entirely of Roes. Roe.
I've just started playing a max hight FemRoe and I'm having so much fun on her just seeing how taller I am to certain NPC's and other players.😅
Tbh my Roegadyn is called Jessie Bravo because she has Johnny bravos hair but just in white 🤣
I made a Hellsguard Roe named Himbo Mommy and didnt realize it was within the naming convention until later 😂
I main Hyur Highlander granted, but Roe’s the most common alternate form I Fantasia my WoL into. One thing I’ll always maintain is that Hellsguards have probably the most badass lore to them, and it’s all in the name.

Femroe here! Have been since ARR. Wanted to expand on Roegadyn names!
The naming conventions are actually surprisingly intricate for the Sea Wolves. Their first name is a combination of two words "Ahctbryda" (River Bride) and then the last name is the name of their father "Syhrblan" (Fearless Dark) + a suffix indicating the individual's gender. "Wyn" is daughter and "Syn" is son!
Put it all together you get a full Roegadyn Sea Wolf name: Ahctbryda Syhrblanwyn (River Bride, daughter of Fearless Dark) 💗

I play a female max height chiseled roegadyn hells guard by the name of Crazed Lunatic, I picked them exactly for the crush me mommy energy and honestly this was way before I was ready to get serious into this game, and now somehow completely accidentally I have hit several markers on this list without ever realizing it and holy hell is that hilarious to me

Roe was my second choice since I love the estetik of them. I did go basic B***h and landed on catgirl but I feel I must have a roe too, they just make me so happy ❤
i was convinced by my ERP partner to go fem roe cause i was tired of being a catto (lots of drama to say the least) and now i cant see my girl as anything else. i went max hight and max muscle for a fem roe and then added some "stuff" to make her better. i think i made her really stunning for a fem roe. and this is coming from a person who would have never imagined playing one.
Me, every time I get a Roe in a dungeon: "Don't be weird about it, don't be weird about it!"

I appreciate, as an irl big beefy boy, that ff14 has a big beefy boy race that isn’t butt ugly. Most games with big races are like orcs and trolls and stuff that is somewhat unflattering as a player that likes to make characters that look like me.

Depends what statistic you look at. There are more Roe than Hrothgar overall, but there are less active and/or endgame Roe players than Hrothgar (looking at individual genders, FemRoe is the least played there, so a bunch are either low alts or just sitting in character creator). Even then, looking at total stats, the difference is only about 50k. FemRoe and Hroth need to stand in solidarity LMAO 🤝

Ever since I tried playing FF14 on my friends account(with permission) and when finally making my own account, I picked FemRoe both times and have NEVER drank a single drop of Fantasia. I like my "chocolate-mommy" Hellsguard, either smashing enemies with a slab of metal or helping teammates (health) up or just shooting enemies to their face with a Roe-size cannon/gun. Also she looks good with glasses.

I’ve yet to have anyone ask me if I can crush them, but it’s prolly because I usually dart back and forth and don’t stay in public places or popular towns long enough for it to happen. Though I have recently noticed my muscle shirt wearing roe having some people hanging around my char when I come back from afk on occasion. Thank you for your video though. The last one I saw on classes made me feel like my char was just some clumsy, overgrown, not so smart ogre. Now I feel like a good looking giant. :D

i made a roe alt a couple weeks ago for a wedding on Diabolos. might keep it for RP or a 2nd fc group. my brynhildr group is great but our FC is like 26 people total.

Two things about mounts. The whisper go mount, roes don’t fit so you sit with your butt on the back and your feet on the chair. Immediate win for the race
But the trade off, one of. One of the friend referral mounts doesn’t scale, so your feet will clip into the ground riding it. (It’s the one that looks like a red Fafnir)

Started out as a female au ra, went all the way to the end of 5.0 msq before going roe and not looking back. Max height femroe for lyfe... or until female hrothgar come out. XD
