- The House of Representatives contacted the CZcams today to put them on notice that their new content policy related to firearm content is under investingation. The weaponization committee of the House Judiciary has subpoenaed all communications related to the change in gun policy as a means to derive their origin. Congress is seeking to form regulations on social media platforms and how they gatekeep the First Amendment in the United States.

Under Investigation by Congress. How many thousands of dollars an hour is spent by Congress, with little or NO return?
Sending a letter saying "bring me receipts and we might not subpoena your entire digital and finance records, and we might not strip your 230 protections as a utility" should go a lot further than just complaining in comments section.

I remember them asking for us to vote them into the majority and they would cut funding to rogue agencies like ATF, IRS, and FBI. But like everything else they do it's just talk talk talk. When words do not equal action people have to take notice, otherwise that's all we'll ever get.
At some point, the big wigs at YT are going to have to face the harsh reality that they can't be treated as both a public forum AND a publisher. You can't have the best of both worlds.
But they can because they do. Google is a defacto part of the government anyway just like most of their like companies. If not for Google propping up the regime with the algorithm and censorship the government likely would either have lost its legitimacy by now or the US gov would have gone to war with them

What does treated as both a "public forum" and a "publisher" mean? CZcams is a company and has the first amendment right to moderate content as they see fit.
@@markn866the 1st amendment is to protect speech, one of them is because CZcams and all social platforms have a backdoor for government influence... They are protected from anything posted to their site BY THE GOVERNMENT, therefore to retain those protections they should not be in violation of any part of the constitution.
@@markn866As a public forum they have certain Section 230 protections where they are not liable for speech that is posted by others on their platform, but they (CZcams) are attempting to disallow certain types of content from their platform, which is more inline with a publisher which doesn’t come with the same protections.

Setting the precedent that a private entity can face jail time for a non criminal policy change is insane dude. The most that should be done Is CZcams should be ordered to cease aggression towards firearm content in civil court, and sued out of business if they fail to comply.
@lolk4530 it's kinda hard to consider them a private company when they're influenced by the government. But yeah I agree to just put them out of buisness. Something better can take their place

I'm perfectly good with Alphabet getting busted up. It has been done before when a company has gotten too big and irresponsible, and it can be done again.
It is supposed to be done when companies get too large & start controlling an industry. Such action needs to start being used again like it has been in the past.
Alphabet has far surpassed the monopolism of anti-trust companies that have been broken up in the past.
After Alphabet they need to go after Apple, Microsoft and especially Meta

The problem is that those running our country into the ground stopped doing the things that we used to do in order to keep things in check.
The left has learned that if they simply keep passing unconstitutional legislation, it takes so long to get to the Supreme Court, if it gets to them at all, that they will eventually just ignore the Courts, our last vestige of checks, and reversals, of UNCONSTITUTIONAL LEGISLATION, that they will eventually just do whatever they want to enrich themselves while making the masses dependent and poor to the point where they have all of the POWER, and we no longer control our government or our country, the Rich and powerful people do, who are not half as smart as the average citizen.

@@GmanGSW Public Platform would be a platform owned by the government. That is not what YT is. YT is a company with the first amendment right to determine who is allowed to use their services. This is protected by the first amendment and reiterated when you agreed to make an account to use YT.

Facebook has been doing this also. Groups as benign as Cowboy Action Shooting and the Single Action Shooting Society have been "shadow banned". Content has been restricted, and sharing of posts has been denied. Threads that merely picture a firearm have been pulled without reason given. I'm hoping the committee goes after Zuckbucks too

Social media outlets should quit acting as editors and moral authorities or lose their government protection and be opened to law suits.
Moderating content on your platform is protected by the first amendment. Any law that conditions giving up first amendment rights is unconstitutional. You need to accept that you have no right to social media.

Google is a government contractor, Google owns CZcams. What else could be expected but to do what your possibly largest customer asks. It’s business at the expense of the consumer.

Unless the government is compelling, influencing, etc CZcams to make the changes, Alphabet is a private company and can restrict what is on its servers. While I don't approve of what they do, they do have the right of "association".

I wouldn't focus on it being firearms related. I would focus on arbitrary changes unrelated to law negatively impacting an existing contractual arrangement. It's an unregulated manipulation of a business relationship.
I doubt this was *pressure* by the administration as much as attempts by some liberally managed companies to kiss ass. Same thing (far more obvious) happened with Trump; not censorship specifically, but businesses taking specific actions just to gain favor. I have no issue calling out Liberal asshole companies.
