How to use the Xbox Adaptive Controller on the PS4

- Hi, this video shows you how to use the Xbox Adaptive Controller on the PlayStation 4. This might be useful if you are a limited mobility gamer and find using the Sony DualShock 4 controller hard.
Remember this is not supported by Sony and it will not work as well on the PS4 as it does on the Xbox One console. Hopefully in the future Sony will allow the use of the Xbox Adaptive Controller natively without any adapters. But until then it is still possible to use it as shown in this video.
If you have used this Xbox Adaptive controller on Xbox, Switch, PC or PS4 etc. then please add your feedback about it (good or bad) down in the comments as it will help others who might be thinking about buying it.
I have only tested it for a couple of days and I am able-bodied so there might be many things that I don't understand or have missed out in the video.

All console manufacturer should produce adaptive controllers. Let's hope this starts a trend.
They shouldn't need to, as Microsoft (and hats off to them for this) has done the hard work and released their brilliant adaptive controller already. Sony and Nintendo could collaborate with Microsoft and just release official device drivers for the it to make it work on the PS4 and Switch respectively. Fortunately, as that doesn't seem to be happening, we have companies like Brook who have stepped in to make it possible for people with limited abilities to be able to enjoy games on the Switch and PS4 too.
That's ingenuity right there. :)
Who would think that the old Buzz controllers that you get with so many used Ps2's or Ps3's would potentially be so useful so many years later? Really awesome of you to do Vince, and explained really well. I'm sure that this will help a lot of people who are disabled, or at least give them some wacky ideas on how to overcome their disability and have a good time! Great video!

Microsoft and Sony should team up and fuse their controller variations together, so that you can choose. x ○ ◻△ and ABXY should be in every game (even in steam).

1. Microsoft made these and are selling them for a massive financial loss and that's okay. They wanted to do this for the betterment of gaming as a whole. Research and Development are insanely expensive.

Really great to take so much time to detail something that is likely only useful to a very limited few - even better as this is likely very critical for those few and I too think it's fantastic Microsoft created this.

Why am I watching this? I don't have disablities, or anyone else in my family, and i don't have a PS4?
I got that Controller as a gift (been onehanded currently) but found it to be working so much better with the xbox than ps4. Microsoft has a copilot feature, allowing you to use a normal controller with the left and the adaptive controller with the feet, without any extra tools or issues. It just works. Currently playing witcher 3 again, finally!
Logitech has an adaptive Button set for 99€. It's good value for people how can't solder.
I bought the adaptive controller for a friend a year ago. He is an console collector and looses the ability to move his right arm and hand 2 years ago.

I'm kinda shocked that Sony never thought of making a Controller like this and the fact no 3rd Party company make a Universal Copy of it. And not just put out a dongle.

This adaptive controller would also be really cool if you want to create a custom controller setup for a specific game, like a space sim or something.

Really informative video ! is there any chance you could do a tutorial using wii chuck controllers via 3.5mm sockets with XAC? i can't lift my hands but can use thumbs and one finger (muscular dystrophy) would be great to use xbox again ! thanks :-)

Trying to connect my Adaptive Controller to PS4 via the Brook adapter but is not responding. Updated latest firmware on the website. Did you mention that Brook sent you a more recent firmware, specifically for the Adaptive? If so, could you possibly share this firmware? Thanks (hopefully)!!

They must have updated the firmware. I tried that exact converter in September 2018 and couldn’t get the adaptive controller to work on ps4. Going to try it again.

I'm a disabled gamer and only have a Nintendo Wii and a PC (Windows 8). Have you tried to connect the adaptive controller to a Wii? I can't hold the A and B buttons on the remote which would help me play golf and bowling on Wii Sports. I can play baseball and tennis, though.

Great video. Can the adaptive controller be used on a PC as well just by a different adaptor? I never thought of adaptive controllers for disabled gamers as I am able bodied for the most part. But kudos to Microsoft for developing the controller.

Hello, I'm in the USA and was wondering where I can find the analog joystick? I'm a C5 quadriplegic gamer.

please do a video about xb1x, avr 4k 60 hdr, 4k 60 hdr tv compatible. I'm having issues with my setup using auto return channel. ps4 pro and pc no issues at all, but the one x graphical issues happen after about 3 days. all I can do is disconnect and reconnect to make it work again but only for 3 days and graphical issues happen again.

Cheap electronics that you're not afraid to break. Start opening up game controllers for example (with a tutorial video parallel while doing it!!!) take your time. Learn. Keep on doing. Next hardware. Improve.

Hi, the exact same thing happened to me! Bought an Xbox series x. And then it asked if I want to update my Xbox adaptive controllers…. After I updated I can't use it on my PS4 anymore with the brook adapter either.... Have you found a solution?

They went with those big buttons because they're very multi purpose. You can hit them with hands, feet, the chin, use them as pedals, depending on your accessibility needs.
