- The siege of Warsaw in 1939 was fought between the Polish Warsaw Army (Polish: Armia Warszawa) garrisoned and entrenched in Warsaw and the invading German Army.
It began with huge aerial bombardments initiated by the Luftwaffe starting on September 1, 1939 following the Nazi invasion of Poland. Land fighting started on September 8, when the first German armored units reached the Wola district and south-western suburbs of the city. Despite German radio broadcasts claiming to have captured Warsaw, the initial enemy attack was repelled and soon afterwards Warsaw was placed under siege.
General Czuma managed to gather enough forces and war material to successfully defend the city for several weeks longer. However, the situation of the civilian inhabitants of Warsaw became increasingly tragic. Constant bombardment of civilian facilities, lack of food and medical supplies resulted in heavy casualties among the city's population.
On September 26, Army Warsaw General Juliusz Rómmel, started capitulation talks with the German commander. On September 27, at 12:00 a cease fire agreement was signed and all fighting halted. Soon afterwards, Warsaw capitulated.
On September 29, the garrison of Warsaw started to hide or destroy their heavy armament. Some of the hidden war material was later used during the Warsaw Uprising. On September 30, the evacuation of Polish forces to German prisoner of war camps started and, the following day, German units entered the capital. City was occupied until January 17, 1945.

Need to mention that casualty rate at the end of the video could be wrong. Wikipedia gives absolutely different numbers in different languages. So more realistic numbers are: German lost 1500 kia and about 5 000 wounded. Polish lost 6 000 kia and about 16 000 wounded plus 100 000 POW.
The Germans would have more casualties in action the first stages of the war as their soldiers would be more exposed than those of the enemy's when advancing in the open fields, but their ability to maneuver would enable them to take massive numbers of enemy prisoners they encircle.
I don't think your information is accurate. I searched it on Wikipedia.
Poland lost 66,000 men on the German front and 400,000 taken as prisoners of war and about 230,000 Polish troops for the Soviet Union.
The German Army had 16,600 casualties and about 3,400 were reported missing.
@@danieldsouza8205 Im talking about siege of Warsaw only
@@LCMhistory oh okay.

These guy can't stop making masterpiece
People don't know how much work they took to make this
They made this so fast but so high quality
Thousands and thousands of frames, layer after layer of video and sound editing, setting speed, cropping, building sets, adding the effects. Days of work is in this...
Masterpieces like these are definitely under appreciated
It’s just amazing how much patience this took
@@Brickregentthere are so many better animators out there that are hundreds of times more underrated than this man is
@@seanthegamer4850 and you are definitely not one of them 💀
Lego: we want to make a toy that inspires creativity without violence. The child: haha ww2 in Lego make big boom.
ok lets make it official this is the best ww2 animation for the battle in the city
not the best, but one of the best lmao. there's a lot of animators and stop motion channel who does a good city battle
Really impressive
Agreed.
Best
Aggre bro
my respect to the boy who literally helped load a cannon in a battlefield.
This was great, the city background is very impressive and I liked the inclusion of civilians to make it more unique
thanks man )
My respect goes to the Polish army. They were brave and even fought on with no hope of winning.
Even though they were heavily outnumbered and outgunned especially when their Capital announced capitulation, they still kept on fighting until the last operational unit surrendered on the 6th of October 1939.
It's a great video. Keep it up mate!
WHEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIZED
Many fought without surrendering until 1945.
Poland needed enough supplies of food, water and ammunition with advanced weaponry. The Polish soldiers faced the enemy tanks with just anti tank rifles, howitzers, and bombs!
The Luftwaffe had 1300 advanced bombers whereas Poland had only 300 which were not really mordern.
But the Polish Air Force managed to shoot 126 bombers in the brief campaign.
@@niepowaznyczlowiek I agree. Even after Poland fell, a few battalions of Polish soldiers still kept on fighting back.
@@danieldsouza8205
Ha! More than a few battalions!

the broadcast at the end truly gave me goosebumps, beautiful animation whatsoever!
yeah... really touching moment of history
Thank you for this message, it is a historical truth, Poland resisted the entire WW2, did not collaborate, created an underground state, but suffered a huge sacrifice and was treated very unjustly before, during and after. I appreciate Your work even more! Regards
Ah nicely done, man. As always my friend. Keep up the good work!
I'm really impressed with your video
