@Daran1972 Absolutely agree with you! Naturally HDF admited in his interview that their voices suited fantasticaly and that it was real pleasure for him to work with Anna.Ideed they have a fantastic chemestry. Bravi !
It's thanks to Donizetti that they sound good together. It's too bad their voices are so different because they are such great singers. If Florez could match her dark sound or if she would lighten hers the harmonics would match better.
Lovely duett, but must say that if Florez is the perfect Ernesto, not all the great sopranos with lovely voices can do correct Norina's. She is a too full voice for me; he in the oppsite, is a clear ray of a sunny voice, breaking in the stage firmament with a golden sound!!!!.Bravo both!!!
@Daran1972 My dear, the reason Nebs can't sing belcanto isn't because she has a dark color to her voice, it is because she can not trill to save her life. Its kind of essential.
Sounds like a teenager and his grandma ... I agree, her voice is too darkly colored for belcanto (and lacking belcanto facility) ... Shame, it's a beautiful voice in the right repertoire - Bel Canto is not it - those that cast her in these roles do her, and the audience, a disservice... I can barely stand to go to the Met now for Bel Canto operas, I know what'll be waiting!
Nobody eclipses the performance of Schipa and Galli Curci in this -probably the greatest duet on record. Schipa never let his voice drown out his partners as many do .
@Cissy97 agreed, but better duck before her fans neurotically leap to her defense with their hands over their ears lol. her coloratura is mediocre and she has pitch problems. nice basic voice quality though.

At minute 1:32 Florez sings "rinfranco il core oppresso" instead of saying "rinfranca il core oppresso".
their voices don´t match but both are excellent singers
