Their voices are remarkable. "Love Can Build A Bridge" is my favorite song by them. The actress Ashley Judd is Naomi Judd's other daughter. Wynonna Judd has several really great songs from her solo career after her mom retired. "Girls With Guitars" "I Saw The Light" "No One Else On Earth"

Momma he’s crazy is another great Judds song! Naomi (mom) and Wynona (daughter) had a great career until Naomi had vocal cord damage and had to retire. Wynona went on to have a great solo career as well. The other daughter Ashley, was a good actor back in the 90’s to early 2000’s.

After watching y’all‘s reaction, I have to say that for my family, it was kinda unique, I think. My “daddy“ walked away from me at 2 1/2 years old. My mama and I lived with my grandparents until my mama met my step daddy, who had custody of his two children in 1973. My mama stopped working as a beautician and stayed at home with us 3 kids. My mama was at home every day when we came home from school. We rarely ever ate out. My daddy worked two and three jobs to support us. Back then, it truly took a village to raise us. Money was never really an issue until the economy changed and it forced my mama to go back to work. When I was 16 years old and in high school, I worked a part-time job and help feed my family. I bought my first car at 16 years old, which was a old car from my uncle. I was raised that if I wanted anything in this life, I had to work for it. This song is very nostalgic for me!

Wynonna (the daughter) is the lead singer. Songs: "Love Can Build a Bridge", "Mama He's Crazy", "Rockin' With the Rhythm of the Rain." Wynonna's solo career: "She is His Only Need" is an absolutely fantastic, gorgeous song. It was one of her first solo hits and is just wonderful. "My Strongest Weakness" and "No One Else on Earth" are also great songs of hers.

I remember the career counselor advising female students to get training in hairdressing, make up, cooking or sewing in case we couldn't get a good husband, I taught my girls to do home repairs, car maintenance, gun cleaning, etc and made them get a good education so they didn't HAVE to marry until they were good and ready. Tragically Naomi lost her battle with depression the day before.
    Thanks, Keith for that analogy.
There were a lot of good old but not everything.
I'm not saying there aren't other factors in a higher divorce rate but you are exactly correct as well.
Before the 1970s women had a lot fewer options available to them.
So unfortunately if they were abused, cheated on, or plain unhappy they stayed for economic reasons, especially if they had children.
Also culturally it was much more frowned upon to be divorced.
Love Will Build A Bridge(the video makes it even better) is a great one.

I don't think promises to a spouse were the only promises they were talking about. They were talking about a time when if someone told you something you could take it to the bank because people kept promises. And it probably isn't very politically correct to say this but they also mention a longing for a time when "people bowed their heads to pray". But of course now we are too sophisticated to believe in God. If you want to hear some more Judds, try "Young Love" or "Mama He's Crazy".

Wynona played guitar. Not sure if she is on this one. Wynona is always up front and Mom sang harmony. This song has always reminded me of my step-grandpa. He's the only Grandpa I've ever known. He was born in 1878ish and I would play with his snow white hair and ask him stories about his life. He would tell me stories about driving a 6 mule team wagon full of supplies from the east coast to the west at age 14 when he left home. He fought in WWI and WWII. He was an amazing man he died at age 87 by falling off their roof.

This song came out in the mid 80's, but it always takes me back to the early 90's when I was recording it on to blank cassette tapes off the radio as a little kid. In fact, for me those are the "good old days" that I miss so much. A lot of the lyrics are still very relevant today, as well, imo. The Judds are one of my favorite artists from the mid-late 80's, along with Randy Travis, Kathy Mattea, Ricky Van Shelton, Holly Dunn, Highway 101, etc. They all played a role in making the traditional country sound more popular in the second half of the 80's and the early 90's. The next Judds songs you should do are "Why Not Me" and "Love Is Alive" which I also love and were big hits from them. If you ever get to any of Wynonna's solo work, check out "She Is His Only Need," "I Saw The Light," and "My Strongest Weakness."

Turn it Loose....u will love it. It even starts out, "Some call it country with a little bit of rhythm and blues." Also....Give A Little Love....has a similar vibe as Turn it Loose

The Judds, Naomi (mom) and Wynonna (daughter and lead singer) were popular in the 80s and early 90s. They had to quit touring together when Naomi got hep c, I believe. After it was under control they reunited a few times. Just recently announced a tour too, however, Naomi sadly passed away today.

I remember my parents (dad was military) driving across country. Mom didn't drive. So he had to stop at a hotel out in the middle of New Mexico driving east. They wouldn't allow them to rent a hotel room without their marriage license. Mom, and us 3 girls had to sleep in the car so dad could get some rest. Women, were screwed backed then. Dustin recognized that pretty fast.

This was released 1985, women worked for the same salary as a man. My mom was paid the same as any man on the line. The other women had to take time off for the mildest cold. They thought flirting and shaking their backside was what they were paid for. They also would leave work for a couple months after giving birth. She didn’t do that because she needed to put a meal on the table for her 3 boys. . I’m a new grandpa, I am glad I don’t have the stories of the Great Depression or The Dust Bowl. We were poor just not as poor as my family was when I was a kid. Something they don’t teach anymore is look the person in the eye, square your shoulders, stand up straight, give the person a firm hand shake, and if you say you’re going to do something do it. A deal or a contract can be made with a handshake.

Grandpa is a great song and Winona and Naomi a mother and daughter team truly did it justice yeah it's about no Sunshine but it was about nostalgia in a world that was changing so fast that sometimes it was scary. One of them unfortunately developed an illness and they retired and the other attempted a solo career. But got that brings back memories so many memories. Great reaction guys as always.
